Ladies: Circumcision or not?

the topic of circumcision has been brought up a few times recently.

then i wondered... .

how do women really view circumcision?

I'm an American and I did not have my son circumcised. My opinion was that I was sick as a dog for the 9 months it took to grow him, so I wasn't letting anybody cut any part of his little body off.

Also, the American Academy of Pediatrics found no benefit for it and could not recommended it.

My husband is circumcised, but did his research on the subject. Watching a circumcision performed and the screaming that resulted on the internet put him in the firm NO camp, too.

My son is 14 years old now and has not requested a circumcision, so I think we made the right decision. :)

What's a word that describes the way Witnesses behave as a group?

i can't recall the word that describes a group that keeps to itself like the witnesses do.

i thought it was "insular" but i don't think that's the one i'm looking for after reading the definition.

i remember an elder using the word "clannish" and that has the proper definition but it reminds me of a group of elves.

What's a word that describes the way Witnesses behave as a group?

The only time I see them is before the memorial when they deliver the invite. It's usually two sweet old ladies and I just smile and take the invite and say, "Thank you!"

They're just too sweet and friendly and elderly to bother them. I just let it go.

ok so a car pulls up to the house and 3 eldurrs from my dads congo come up.

they come in and have thee nerve to ask me to step out so they can speak to pops!!!!

this is the good part.....pops says...and i quote " whatever needs to be said..can be said in front of my son".

It seems like they've been taking the donations from older ones, along with the older ones themselves, for granted.

I know my parents donate on a monthly basis, but I don't know how much. They've got a decent retirement, but, hey that's all they've got to live on for the rest of their lives!

I don't give a rat's ass whether there's any left after they're gone, but I sure as hell would be pissed if they gave it all away while they still need it to live off of.

Maybe your dad could take that land he got back and donate it for a park or something that would actually benefit the community

Maybe a blood donation center? Call it the "Jehovah's Witness Memorial Blood Donation Center."

Just found out that my Mum is taking my 3 year old nephew to meetings!

to be precise, he is my brothers nephew but that makes no difference really.

mum is 71 and a true, hardcore jw.

she's a good mum but has a real blind spot where her faith is concerned.. i know her.

We had this issue when my son was younger. I went to visit my mom and I found a tot sized suit in a closet! This means she knew I would be unhappy because she hid it.

I took the opportunity to ask my parents if they had heard about Candace Conti and the trial that alleged that child abusers were left to run amuck in KHs without the elders being allowed to tell the publishers of their past.

They hadn't heard, but I told them to look it up and see if it wasn't true, but in the meantime, my son was not to go with them to the Kingdom Hall. I never heard back from them anything about it.

Funny, but recently my son was getting dressed up to go to a school dance. He said it reminded him of when he was little and his grandmother made him dress up to go the the Hall. He said he hated it. He liked talking to people before and after the meeting, but he hated how boring the meeting itself was.

however, it's still significant because it shows that the organization still has dissenting brothers in positions of leadership.. my thanks to the leaker.

If you maintain that you can only take care of people's spiritual needs as shepherds, then you can't agree to meet with people who have mental, physical or other needs that they expect the elders' help with.

So, they either need to refuse to meet people with these problems OR refer to other sources of help after explaining they have no expertise in that area.

They do neither, so that leaves them very culpable, indeed.

Travel recommendations?

hey guys.

i've decided that during this time of being dfed, maybe trying to get reinstated, i'm going to enjoy my time with myself.

that being said, i would like to do some traveling when the weather warms up across the us.

That should be: hedgerows of wild roses. You can get beautiful photos of the roses with the ocean and lighthouses in the background. Lighthouses all over the place there, too.

The barrier islands of Maryland and Virginia, including Assateague Island where they have wild ponies! Chincoteague, VA has their annual pony roundup in July every year. It's really unique and you can bid on a pony if you have a barn for him at home.

Also the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Never been, but I want to go. Wild and natural and lots of lighthouses.

Peaks Island, Maine is a small, bikeable island just off the coast of Portland and only accessible by ferry. There's a road around the perimeter of the island with hedgerows of wild rows growing between the road and the sea. Biking heaven. No hotels, though. You have to rent a cottage. Rocky shores, though. No sandy beaches like farther south.

My cat died suddenly!

i did not realize that they were symptoms that something was wrong with my cat -but i did notice that my cat was breathing a little differently for a period of about a few days.

i also noticed prior and after to that, that on occasion, my cat would cry at the litter box, but that was a very seldom event.. anyway, about a week ago i noticed the symptom that my very loved cat was breathing heavy.

so i called a taxi and i was going to rush him to emergency room for cats.

Oh, Fisherman, I missed this post! I am so sorry to hear you lost your buddy!

Cats hide illness well and losing them unexpectedly is unfortunately all too common. Please don't blame yourself. You loved and gave your little buddy a good life. A very lucky little cat to have such a loving owner.

I have several of my feline friends buried in the back garden. I don't think I could ever stand to sell this house.
