Sad that the horror of abused children isn't enough for them to change their ways; it takes the threat of losing their precious money to get them to do anything about it.

Harvard, we agree on some things, others we don't.

I don't believe that the 2nd amendment gives carte blanche for anyone to own any weapon.

The purpose was to establish a well-regulated militia, emphasis on well-regulated.

Redvip, I would say to you that gun culture is different throughout the US, as well. I live in Maryland where handguns just are not a big part of the culture. The only open carry I've seen is on law enforcement and it's really difficult to get a concealed carry permit. And I like it that way.

Sometimes I feel like we are talking about 2 different countries when I hear the vehement differences in opinion over firearms. But, there's not, there's two different gun cultures.

I don't come from an area where there is a strong gun culture (other than for hunting) and other parts of the US have a strong gun-culture.

Sometimes I think that itself is a reason for such heated opinions on both sides.

That's interesting. Usually the pro-gun lobby aren't approving of drug legalization.

Glad you're teaching your kids gun safety.

I personally wouldn't have a loaded shotgun in my bedroom. Anybody could be tall enough to reach it with a step-stool.

I think it's important to keep a gun unloaded until you intend to use it.

Good on you for using a gun lock and storing the clip in a separate place, as well as getting a gun safe. They're expensive, but a good investment safety.

Hadriel, I did mention that the child should have been in a safety seat in my first comment on page 1.

The mother was irresponsible in multiple areas. So, my question is how do you keep irresponsible people from owning guns?

We hope you got some closure for yourself and also hope you are proud of yourself for making a difference for the children stuck in the cult.

Not all of us are in the position to do so and we thank you because we know it was difficult.
