Why don't we have dominion over the animals?
by Coded Logic ina devout christian had his buttocks mauled by a lion after challenging the big cat to a duel in order to prove the “lord’s power over animals”.. alec ndiwane, who has been described as a “prophet” in african media, was on safari at the kruger national park in south africa when he confronted the pride.. determined to prove to fellow tourists that god would save him, ndiwane is said to have gone into a trance and started speaking in tongues before opening his car door and charging at the lions.. but the lions were quick off the mark and bit him viciously on the backside as he clambered into the vehicle.. a warden managed to scare the big cats off by firing a gun in the air.. “i do not know what came over me,” ndiwane told ghanaweb.. “i thought the lord wanted to use me to show his power over animals.
is it not we were given dominion over all creatures of the earth?” he added.. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/6994224/devout-christian-has-buttocks-mauled-by-lions-after-challenging-big-cats-to-a-duel-to-prove-the-lords-power-over-animals.html?cmp=spklr-_-editorial-_-twitter-_-thesunnewspaper-_-20160311-_-news-_-394160343-_-imageandlink.

Feeling A Bit Down Today
by jacobm inhey y'all, .
i'm not sure about you, but i occasionally get those days where i feel a bit down, as if i have no friends.
i do have a number of great friends, though, and am very thankful for them.. i think it might have to do with the residual programming of having a "worldwide brotherhood".

Maybe think about the term Worldwide Brotherhood and then think about the fact that without ever having met every JW around the world, they couldn't possibly have been your friends.
Isn't it very clear that to be friends with someone, you not only have had to meet them, but you also would have to share enough interaction to build a friendship?
So, the idea of Instant Friends as promoted in the Organization is kind of disingenuous.
In the real world you have to put the work in to claim friendship with someone else.
I find the JW concept of friendship to be shallow. There were a lot of acquaintances, true. But, it is basically broad and shallow.
Real friendships have to be earned in time and understanding. A more narrow band of people, but deep friendships.
I'd take narrow and deep over broad and shallow any day.

Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

No, but I learned how to tolerate boredom for a looong time.
I also did a lot of what I imagine meditation to be: just sitting still and letting the thoughts flit by.
They say meditation is a good stress reducer, so maybe it was slightly beneficial?
And then I quit going once I was an adult, so it might have been stressful listening to the same thing for 30 years.
But, no, can't say I ever enjoyed them. Our bookstudy never even had goody night. Everyone just went right home. :(

Hadriel, sorry if I misunderstood. I never thought you were advocating drugs. I took your comment as being pro drug decriminalization.
I actually think there's some evidence that that might be a good thing, to take drug enforcement money and shift it to treatment.
I apologize if I misconstrued your comparison.

they make sure a person feels safe.
they don't hold back with legal information either.

Interesting that you said that money talks.
Sad that the horror of abused children isn't enough for them to change their ways; it takes the threat of losing their precious money to get them to do anything about it.

Juan, I'm just pointing out the inconsistency between calling for fewer gun regulations because of the 2nd amendment when it calls for a well-regulated militia. -

Redvip, I gave you a like for acknowledging my concerns while sharing yours.
I hear your fears about home invasions, and while I'm not sure handgun ownership is the answer, I respect your opinion.

Harvard, we agree on some things, others we don't.
I don't believe that the 2nd amendment gives carte blanche for anyone to own any weapon.
The purpose was to establish a well-regulated militia, emphasis on well-regulated.

Juan, I didn't make the comparison between gun laws and drug laws.
Hadriel did.
