this was in australia, but the khs i've seen (in the us) are designed so that you'd have to almost intentionally want to ram a building to cause this kind of damage.

My MIL sleeps and drives, but our state doesn't have mandatory retesting for older drivers. She won't voluntarily give up her license. There's no public transportation here, either.
She's not allowed to drive any of the grandchildren around, though.

second week focuses on those who are ill. this is somewhat surprising in that the subject was discussed recently in the wt study (dec 15 2015 edition - "jehovah will sustain you") considered at the end of february this year.. .

My parents would just assume it was the Great Tribulation and the work would be driven underground. They would find like-minded people and meet together in their homes.
Just because the organization collapsed wouldn't mean they would give up their faith.

My old computer is dead: long live my new CHROMEBOOK

Yeah, these Chromebooks are what our school system uses for the middle school population. They do the job.

Feeling A Bit Down Today

i'm not sure about you, but i occasionally get those days where i feel a bit down, as if i have no friends.
i do have a number of great friends, though, and am very thankful for them.. i think it might have to do with the residual programming of having a "worldwide brotherhood".

My parents moved congregations and I would ask them about so-and-so from the old congregation whom they had known for decades, and I'd get an answer something like, "Well, I think they're doing okay."
It was clear they hadn't spokem to them in a long while.

I think it's more likely that everyone knows a homosexual, they just don't know that they are gay.

Maybe think about the term Worldwide Brotherhood and then think about the fact that without ever having met every JW around the world, they couldn't possibly have been your friends.
Isn't it very clear that to be friends with someone, you not only have had to meet them, but you also would have to share enough interaction to build a friendship?
So, the idea of Instant Friends as promoted in the Organization is kind of disingenuous.
In the real world you have to put the work in to claim friendship with someone else.
I find the JW concept of friendship to be shallow. There were a lot of acquaintances, true. But, it is basically broad and shallow.
Real friendships have to be earned in time and understanding. A more narrow band of people, but deep friendships.
I'd take narrow and deep over broad and shallow any day.
