he was belittling those who had one excuse or another for doing less than (he thought) they should.
he mocked those who relied on the thought that "jehovah knows my circumstances and he doesn't think any less of me" or some such.

Yeah, the "Nobody's Perfect" argument doesn't work.
If you have illegally used sex workers (admitted) then you should definitely not be advocating for sex abuse victims. You're discrediting your cause.
That's called hypocrisy and is a far cry from "nobody's perfect."

It seems like, boiled down to its essence, Lloyd's argument is: "All of my Activism is so important that you can't throw me away. The world needs my Activism!"
Except it doesn't, because his work is easily replicated by any two bit keyboard warrior trying to make a living off of YouTube.
The information is out there. I, among many others, got the information the hard way, by reading entire books back in the '90s. This took weeks and months.
This bite-sizing of info into YouTube videos is trained-seal easy. And, he's not even good at that given his penchant for multi-hour videos.
So, no, neither I, nor we, nor anyone needs, in particular, a cheat and criminal user of sex workers to do that for us. In fact, I'd say he's likely the absolute worst choice possible right now.
Activism will go on by others more morally suited for it. Lloyd is completely surplus to requirements, unnecessary and detrimental to the cause.
Most of us can see the man behind the curtain.
Also his threats of legal action are pathetic posturing, a last stab effort to avoid the melting down of his life, livelihood and reputation.
He should be the one in fear of the legal system on account of his uncontrollable penis. This is so clearly projection. He projects his fears, namely that he will be locked up with men who will turn their uncontrollable penises on him.
This guy has just thoroughly fucked himself over and he doesn't even realize it yet. Or maybe he does, subconsciously, and this is just a bunch of diversion where he's deluded not only others, but himself too, because the truth is too terrifying to acknowledge.

It doesn't matter who downvoted me and you surely don't need to apologize for a differing opinion!
However, it is nice when someone actually verbalizes that opinion rather than simply downvote. It increases the quality of interaction.
You have an excellent point about time of life and the decision to rent vs buy. Retirees may prefer renting for many reasons.
The article was about newlyweds and that is prime time to get on the property ladder. In fact, many middle class Americans carry the largest part of their wealth in their homes. It's an investment that can be lived in.
Over time real estate has historically grown in value providing steady returns. One doesn't even need to sell the asset to realize benefits since, once it is paid off, the amount of the monthly mortgage payment is now available for living or any other expenses.
It's hard to argue against this scenario:
You buy a house for $225,000 and pay $1300 a month. After 30 years, the house has doubled in value, but your mortgage payment has stayed the same. Suddenly it is paid off and your mortgage is $0 monthly and your house is worth $450,000.
If you had rented for $1300 a month, your rent will have risen over the years as property values increase. You may now be paying $2400 a month. And you do not have the house as an asset.
This is how wealth is built over a lifetime and even passed to future generations. If you live your life with a short term perspective, you might not consider the value of doing something NOW that will pay off in 30 years.

Renting is a particularly bad deal right now.
Rent a place for $2400 right now while the equivalent mortgage on the same house would be about $1600.
It doesn't pay to be noncommittal and itinerant in the current real estate market.

Weasel Words coming from the Weasel Den on the lake in Tuxedo Park, New York. Or Warwick. Or an old missile silo.
A humble den where the weasels hibernate for the winter, or the extent of Covid, or indefinitely.
Why leave when weasel food is delivered electronically via Donate buttons, or occasionally from the local liquor emporium?
It's comfy there among the rocks, or, the, erm, granite countertops.
And, it's dark. They wait there for New Light, or the bright flash of Armageddon's fire and brimstone, or the light at the end of the tunnel.
And they play with words. And they play with lives. And they pray that Karma is not real.
"The Weasel Den: Come Retire With Us Today!" Or not. So many retirees have been made redundant, laid off, fired. The Weasel Den is cozy, but they can't have it too cozy, can they?
It's best that only the most Equal Weasels be residents. The better the distribution from the Donate button, or the liquor store, or the government.
All animals are Equal, but, indeed some animals are more Equal than others.
