Delusions are given some leeway in diagnosis if it's a sincerely held religious belief.
For example, believing a loved one is watching over one from heaven.
Don't know if this would apply to the belief of living forever or not.
data-dog: i believe that many of them would actually be considered mentally ill, if they were ever tested.. .
great question and intriguing hypothesis.
lets take an armchair psychologists view and see what we shall see.

there are literally about thirty young single very good looking sisters in this one kingdom hall under the age of 30. that is just one kingdom hall.
in the circuit there are literally hundreds of young beautiful jw girls under 30 who are single and anxious to get married.
about two years ago, this one single good looking brother who is about 30 years old and who is an elder married this plain looking sister who is 59 years old.
Once dated a JW guy. Against my better judgment. We talked really honestly about everything that was wrong with the organization. We complained about all the rules that we were breaking.
I finally said that I couldn't be a hypocrite and be part of the org when I hated everything they stand for. His response?
"Why not be a hypocrite? You do everything else!"
He would have made a great elder, but he didn't live long enough. He refused a blood transfusion and died after being in an automobile accident only a few years later.
to all of you in the usa i wish you a safe and happy "independence day" and many more of them!.
cheers.
zeb .
Thanks! The rain has passed and it looks like the fireworks will be a Go tonight.
I always love feeling that rumble in my throat when they go off.
Must-eat menu for the Fourth: grilled hotdogs, hamburgers and watermelon. Yum!
happy independence day to those in the usa.
i can't help but think of our own personal struggles for freedom today.. "question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must more approve the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear."1.

Anyone watching fireworks tonight?
By the way, the JWs I grew up with always watched the 4th of July fireworks. You would've thought it would have been a no-no because of it being a patriotic holiday, but no.
They make the rules and break the rules.
what we can read in the wt 10/15/2015... they have really no shame!.

child murder, sodomy & corrupting the human genome are not new sins, they are old ones.
what is new is their institutionalization.
but even that isn't totally new.
Sometimes I think that choosing a side and shutting your mind comes from information fatigue.
There's just so much information available at our fingertips now that strong partisanship becomes a heuristic.
Thus, paradoxically, the advent of the net and exponentially larger bodies of information has helped create the hyperpartisanship we see now.
the latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.
he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.
not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.
Meh. The Gadsden flag is taking over the place of the confederate flag now it seems. More politically correct.
I'm beginning to see "Don't Tread on Me" and coming to the "all I need to know about someone" conclusion as well.

i'm having problems identifying a small cyst that i get every once in a great blue moon.
i like to call it a lollipop cyst because it looks like a really small lollipop.
so, it's basically a small cyst at the tip of a really small shaft (not my penis).
They tend to form in places where there is friction, so the inner elbow makes sense. Also, under breasts or where your underwear elastic rubs.
I've known people to just snip them off with manicure scissors and they say they don't even bleed.
