How Many JWs Really Believe Everything They Are Told?
by minimus ini think that 80% of jws do not truly believe in what they are taught .
the vast majority stay in because of family, friends, ignorance and a lack of caring about any of the facts regarding the "truth".
many people are lazy.

My mother is a true believer, desperately so. She resolves cognitive dissonance by burrowing ever deeper into the organization. She loooves all the new changes, seeing the technology focus as proof that it is a forward thinking organization. She believes every pronouncement they utter.
She and my dad are recently retired and now have the time on their hands to become ever more devoted and busy with"theocratic activities." I have no hope that she will ever wake up.

I've lost my mind years ago,
My body's followed suit.
I've lost my worldly riches, too;
There's nothing left to loot.

Platinum, my experience is that the right person comes along when you are not expecting it and not even trying.
You're more relaxed and more yourself. And it takes nervousness right out of the equation.
Mentally take yourself off of the market and focus on the gym like you've planned for 6 months.
I'm willing to bet that within those 6 months someone will show up that you'll be willing to put yourself back on the market for. ;)

Hi, Garrett! I've been wondering how you're doing.
I know you were going through a hard time and I'm glad to hear of your improvement. It sounds like you're getting the basis for a good career under your belt. Good!
And the improvement in your dating life is impressive, too! See, we told you that you were giving up prematurely! Make sure you stop in now and again to let us know how you are doing.
My thoughts are with the French people. I was devastated to hear the news last night and I am keeping Paris in my thoughts.

What would happen ??
by Clambake inthere is a certain elder in my wives hall that has seemed to developed a real interest her.
first he seemed to feel a need to make sure all her blood cards were signed before she gave birth to our child.. he sends her text messages if she misses a meeting saying how much " we missed you last night ".
he finally sent her a text wondering where her oct hours were , knowing she had some pretty serious tears from child birth and could hardly even walk, much less do field service ".

Text him back using your wife's phone saying she is indisposed, but he can contact you if he needs anything.
That way he knows that no text messages to her are private.
Then see what happens.

It says he was ordered to a treatment program in lieu of incarceration. But, do these programs work? I understand that these people aren't easily reformed.
Does anyone have more current information about the issue of treatment and reoffense for these types of sex offenders?

Did you know anyone who commited suicide in the org?
by JH inback in 1991, a young brother maybe 18 years old living next to my place committed suicide.
his father expected him to be very zealous just like he was, but the son never wanted to be like that.
he was always controlled by his father.

Knew a young man who got in a serious car accident and needed blood to survive. He refused.
That's suicide in my book.

My old hall in the '70s had these awful plastic bushes on either side of the stage. They were tall and there were so many of them that it looked like a jungle.
I took some Barbie dolls into the hall during cleaning night and posed them as if they were climbing up the trees in the jungle.
The next morning for the Sunday meeting I kept my mouth shut, but soon you could see kids whispering and pointing. But, they were camouflaged enough that the elders didn't notice them before the meeting.
Afterwards I managed to rescue them from their jungle expedition with the elders none the wiser, but the kids were laughing their asses off. It was th most fun they had at a meeting since....ever!

What the GB/Lawyers Should Be Worrying About
by XBEHERE inperhaps this was touched on in another thread so i apologize if it was ( i don't get to read all of the posts on here all the time) .
who leaked that october letter that was read about the midweek meeting restructuring and reduction in magazines?
it only could've been someone fairly high up in the organization or someone in the it department that converted it to pdf format, or someone from a branch that is in charge of digital correspondence, translation, etc.

Sorry...the above comment is on the wrong thread. I was aiming for the disaster preparedness thread.
Now I feel silly.
