The tree is up, the gifts are wrapped,
The annual bonuses have all been scrapped.

All they'll get is, "Merry Christmas to you!"

has anyone noticed how many jw's really seem to be rollin in it?
escpecially the elders, and they treat their subordinates like filthy gum on the bottom of their shoe?
just wondering because i too am poorer than poor and have spent a fourth of my life homeless already and i am 22.. another thing to consider is why domost of the population on this planet seem to hate the poor, even though we outnumber the middle class and the rich greatly?
Without trying to be cynical, some people just won't be able to cut it in college.
We can push that goal like crazy in our schools, but, realistically, some kids just don't have the cognitive ability to do university level work.
And, that's a natural limitation.
Sorry for the cynicism.
't is the season and my oldest is now 5 (and in school), it's also how long i've been 'out'.
i just wanted to share this story about my daughter.
you can find some of my history on these forums as well.. in the mean time, i've started a new family, i have shared custody (half the weekdays and every other weekend) with my oldest and my youngest is 2 and we are celebrating christmas.
This is a great story! I'm so glad you posted.
Yup, it's just another religion. Once they figure it out, half the battle is over.
this is interesting:.

"a whole lot of the time, i just don't like being a mother, and i generally don't fit well into this role.".
I'm glad my husband and I had 10 years together before we had our son.
It was rough going at first and I thought I had ruined my life.
Now I kind of like the little guy, well, not so little anymore; he's almost 6 feet tall!
The point is that I like the fun parts of parenting. I love playing with kids, reading books to them, even buying their clothing.
I like kids so much that I'm a teacher!
But, the unrelenting marathon of monitoring their food input (and output), monitoring their nightly sleep needs, monitoring their health, dealing with chronic and acute medical conditions, monitoring their schooling, providing transportation, the requirement to monitor his whereabouts every minute of every day. It's the Management of Every Facet of Another Person's Life that is wearing. I could only do it for one child. Thinking of having another was too exhausting.
However, the older they get, the more of this work transfers to the child himself. My teenager doesn't have to be supervised every minute. He is able to feed himself, wash his own clothes, get up on his own and get himself to school on time, and take his meds. I still have to monitor these things, but the 24/7 nature of parenting has lessened over time. This has reduced much of the stress of parenting and I have more emotional energy to bond with him than ever before. I love him more and more and more and now I am looking at letting him go in a couple more years. It's just heartbreaking.
I've come to realize that what I like most about parenting is meeting a new person and giving him the tools to be an independent person. It's a thankless job, and if you do it right, you work yourself out of a job. For me, it's about helping him grow up. I feel that way as a teacher, too. My job is to help them learn and grow, and at the end of the school year, to be one more year closer to independence.
There's a new person in the world. He looks like me. He looks like my husband. But, he's his own person.
And I'm unleashing him on the world in 2 years!
i bet most witnesses could not explain their blood policy, their understanding of the slave, and even simple biblical doctrines....they are an embarrassment to any old timer..
And if they told you from the platform tomorrow night that the lifesaving work is over, would you stop preaching?
I believe you would.
I believe you are a follower of man.
What could they possibly say that you wouldn't follow?
very stressfull and upsetting evening was had last night.
i dropped my 2yo daughter off to my ex-wifes home.
all seemed good until i got home.
This reads just like all the stories over at reddit, raisedbynarcissists.
Narcissists can't step outside of their own point of view.
This does them no service, however, it also leaves them at a disadvantage when trying to defend themselves, as in court.
They sare too shortsighted, and also incredibly isolated, to understand what will actually get them a sympathetic ear in an actual court or in the court of public opinion. (See the Royal Commission in Australia.)
Use this to your advantage; be the chess player who can think 4 moves ahead.
Just do your homework. Do more homework than you've ever done in your life. Have a child custody plan to present to the court, and have the reasons and references to prove it.
Then, secondarily, study up on the likely JW responses and plan your counter-responses.
It's winnable, pale.emperor. Ask around about others' experiences with the local family court to discover its biases and assumptions. Use this knowledge in your plan.
Plan. Plan. Plan. Play offense. Plan for defense, as well. Go in confident. Find a solicitor who believes in you, and you him/her.
This is your equivalent of your doctoral thesis. Make it your work. If you work 40 hours a week, put in another 40 in research and planning. Make it your fulltime job to fight for your little girl!
We all believe in you!
in my work, i rely upon google for quick answers on definition (denotation), pronunciation (audio), etymology, shades of meaning (connotation), etc.. what i really mean is, do you use an actual unabridged websters, the one you get a hernia lifting?
i ask because, last night, i was tired of fighting with my two ailing computers and decided to pull the big book off the shelf.
it was great, hearkening back to olden times -- childhood -- when i read real books and periodicals and wrote unknown words into a notepad (the paper sort) and pored over old noah's offerings.. your thoughts?.
I like the old phonetic spellings; I can't parse the new stuff.
Yeah, I technically learned it in college, but if you have to use a reference to use a reference...
i heard my hard out jw sister say that for the 1st time in many years and i'm hearing more and more jw's saying that.
years ago when i was in they talked about the new system coming any minute..
I just ignore, as well. I think they partly do it as a show of righteousness, so I don't give them an audience.
