The engine options in the US are 1.6 liter inline 4 at 130 hp, or 1.6 liter turbo at 200 hp. There's also a 2.0 liter inline four at 170 hp. All seem to get the same fuel efficiency: about 30 miles per gallon.
I just bought a new car last November, so I considered this one. The 130 hp is waaay underpowered, and by the time you add the turbo to get the power you need, you're at about $24K.
I ended up going with a subaru WRX in a 2.0 liter turbo with 267 horsepower and paid about $26K. Still get about 30 miles per gallon.
But, I really like the looks of the Kia Soul. We call it the Hamster Car due to an advertisement that had human-sized hamsters driving the car, jamming out to the stereo. If I could find it, I'd post it.

Mathematically Measuring Evolution.
by towerwatchman inmathematically measuring evolution.. when judging relationships in terms of morphological characteristics we will always be bound by the subjective.
morphologically one cannot exactly measure the distance between two organisms strictly in mathematical terms.
using the standard method of taxonomy we cannot quantify the difference between a horse and a mouse, or know which is closer mouse to cat, or mouse to fish.

'Jesus verified everything he said was truth by means of his resurrection, including his statement that the Old testament was true.' -towerwatchman
And therein lies the problem. This was listed as your main argument.
And from that circular reasoning you go searching for "scientific" evidence to prove that founding assumption.
And after finding one piece of evidence that seems compelling to you, you ignore the many other lines of evidence in proof of evolution, even going so far as to chasten posters who point these out as 'not addressin the OP."
For your sake, I really hope you are a troll, because otherwise your ability to reason through a subject leaves much to be desired and leaves you open to any kind of propaganda.
Spock out.

Who is this "evolutionist" you are referring to?
If you are talking about more than one, you need to add an "s" to the end to make it plural: "evolutionists."
Sorry for the derail; third grade teacher here.

My Old Kingdom Hall being merged with TWO other congregations!
by pale.emperor inthis can only be a good sign.. my old congregation in liverpool has had a lot of money in it's bank account for years.
for a long, long time (almost 8 years) they've been looking for land to build a new hall.
the one they're in now is literally falling to bits.

Different perspective. I'm in the US. My "local" kingdom hall is 25 miles away.
Having to go 8 or 9 miles to another hall sounds entirely reasonable to me, not that I'd go anyhow!

I Smell Fear...
by pale.emperor inmsoneone of fb sent me this.
looks like they know they're being exposed as the frauds they are.
this plus the theme of the next convention "don't give up" just reeks of desperation.. stash: /intesoft-inc.appspot.com/post/b21fe47ca2644a0ea2f6e28fe6401145.html

That convention theme is unbelievable.
Maybe next summer it will be "But, we're not frauds! We really aren't!"

Covering the territory
by Ding inhow often are jws trying to cover a given territory nowadays?.
logically, they should be trying to cover the territory more and more often the closer armageddon gets, but it seems to me i see them out far less often than i used to..

Maybe the slow pace is a function of the aging of the members.

A major misadventure!
by Bungi Bill inhi, everyone.. i haven't posted here much in quite a while, but having just been laid low by injury, i'll likely be a frequent visitor for some time to come!.
two weeks ago, i was involved in a workplace accident that left me with my lower l.h.
leg fractured in three places (the tibia and fibular both broken clean through, plus another crack in the "neck" of the fibular for good measure!

Can you convince them that the kind of physiotherapy you need needs to be carried out in a warm pool?
You know, "It's less stress on the injury!"

Disfellowshipping even repentent child molesters would be a good faith move to make clear how "abhorrent" child sexual abuse is.
Yes, I absolutely think it should disqualify one from being in the religion. Disfellowshipping is the only way that the congregation gets a formal warning about this person's poor judgment. Since the cong can't /won't tell the reasons why, keeping someone disfellowshipped is the only way WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE RELIGION to guarantee that members won't have contact with the pedophile.
Jeeze, pedophiles have to register on the child offender registry, are prohibited from living close to schools, and are outed on Halloween where they have to post a sign warning trick or treaters to stay away. For life. (at least in the US)
So, how, konceptual, is it a problem for admitted (by the very fact that they are "repentent" ) child molesters to be excluded from the congregation permanently?
And this doesn't even touch the fact that these admitted, "repentent" child molesters are unreported to the police, and none of those civil protections can be enacted unless the law compels them to.
DFing would be the only protection other congregants could get.
