we have all read and watched so many of the child abuse / sexual abuse scandals, and it makes us all sick to our stomachs, i want to touch on a different kind of abuse, i am not trying to draw a parellel between child abuse and being abused.
the abuse i am talking about is just as bad but so different.
i remember growing up a jw, basically having no choice, whether i wanted to go to the meetings or in service, and i always resented this in my parents.

I dont think any of us had a normal childhood or even adulthood. I had a good friend who HAD to go in service every saturday. Her dad (the PO) would tell them if they were sick he wanted to see the proof in a jar.....so if they puked or had the runs they had to bottle it as proof to stay home......

I am amazed at the response from men opposed to women saying what it is that a man can do to romance them.....
and EDTEE....you are the first woman that has mad any signs of thinking the rose pedals are romantic.....someone told me the other day that when she came home from work one day her husband had lined hershey kisses on the floor from the front door thru the house down the halls to their bedroom ...when she got to the room he scattered kisses ALL over the bed and had a big sign on the bed that said....*I STILL KISS THE GROUND YOU WALK ON*.....that one game me a big *SIGH*

There has been such a great response to my question and some really great suggestions for my friend...
to clarify a little more I have had a few not know if this is a new date situation or a relationship that has lasted a while. Well they have been dating for about a year and a half. But like all things that are new they become common place after a while and that is where the romance comes in to keep the flame alive. All I know is that all your help will keep him from having to register for ROMANCE 101....LOL

well, my disfellowshipped friend was seeking out an older, non-jw relative who he had wanted to invite to a monumental event in his life.
he wasn't able to reach her at her home so he eventually gave up and sought out his jw parents.
in doing so, he learned that the elderly relative had died a little less than a year earlier (a few months after he had been disfellowshipped).
I am so sorry to hear about this....it is a reapeted offense by them....5 yrs ago my sister died suddenly and my mother had terminal cancer..the 5 yrs I took care of her no elders came to see me or her and when she dies I told my ex that I didnt want to see any at the funeral home.If they couldnt see us while she was alive I didnt want to see them then. it is sad to see it continues...

WELL!!!!!!......if I recall right they also tell us we are not longer under the mosaic law and if they are trying to use this scripture then we ARE....and if that is true, then they are going against the scriptures themselves by not allowing the brothers to have beards or goaties because the scripture right above that one..(Lev 19:27) quotes..."YOU MUST NOT DESTROY THE EXTREMITY OF YOUR BEARD"
