Cutting of BS following WT plan: No more personal study or research!

since it seems the cats out of the bag on the book study being eliminated from small groups at homes, i feel it ok to discuss the "why" of the society's actions on this manner.

many seem to be confused as to why the wt would eliminate another evening of busywork.

some see it as a loosening of the riens on the wt's part to let the congregation breathe.....i see it as the complete opposite....i see it as another control tactic, one that has been in the works for a while.

Many seem to be confused as to why the WT would eliminate another evening of busywork. Some see it as a loosening of the riens on the WT's part to let the congregation breathe.....I see it as the complete opposite....I see it as another control tactic, one that has been in the works for a while.

Here is my opinion. Over the last several years, books have been getting smaller, soft-cover, pamphlet size. Everyone knows of the now infamous September '07 Our Kingdom Ministry box with the small paragraph pretty much banning all independent research of the Bible, other translations, the original Greek & Hebrew, etc with the exception of WatchTower publications. In other words, we the WTBS speak for God, and therefore you other sheep need not worry with the minor details or questions that you may have concerning our slanted Bible or failed logic....hand over all thought processes to us. Period.

Now.....what do we hear on here time, after time, after time about ideas being spoken openly about during the small home book studies? I can't even begin to count how many times I've heard on here about people that have asked questions at their book studies in order to make others think about the WTBS failed logic, prophecies, flip-flops, etc. This is especially true since the "revisions" of the absolutely looney Revalation: It's Grand Climax Book. I mean, can you imagine what questions must be being asked just from the changes to that book at studies?

You see, in short, the home book studies were not a completely controlled environment.....you could still relax in someone's home, study your text, and then pretty openly ask questions that maybe you'd NEVER ask openly in a Kingdom Hall setting, and this would encourage open discussion and of course - THINKING - something that the WTBS is scared to death you'll do for yourself. So, how do we eliminate this leak in the controlled system? Plug the leak - eliminate home book studies and incorporate it into a completely controlled environment - the local Kingdom Hall. How many people are likely to ask open questions there? Not many. Also, with all the Elder's there at one time, if someone does ask "red flag, dissident questions" Elder's are there to witness it and ask you into the back room right after. This is "streamlining" of the Theocratic Order at its finest.

These changes also coincide with what Garret Douche...I mean, Losch, has been caught saying in his various talks about Theocratic Organizational skills and also plays right into the special meetings for PO's and Elder's at Patterson this year. Get them all up there to see who all is on board (or not) with the new arrangement and control tactics.

People, this is some scary $hit. Can't you all see it yet? This isn't more freedom; it's more control and putting more of a watchful eye over everyone. No more somewhat safe environment to discuss or ask questions.....just come to the KH for your book study now and keep your opinions to yourselves.....only thing you have to do is read what you underlined in the book....no more research outside of the WTBS's publications..... If we aren't seeing 1984 developing in front of our eyes, I don't know what.

Um, it's your life, so tell your over-bearing relatives (Aunt?) to mind their own business and let you live it. I know all-to-well about overbearing JW relatives, I was raised in it just like you and also tried to play the JW good-boy......how stupid I was as well. The JW kids were far worse than the "worldlings."

First and foremost, when approached by JW's, whether they be relatives, Elder's, or just nosy-busy-bodies, DENY, DENY, DENY. Remember, the burden of proof is on THEM, don't give them any freebies. It's up to THEM to prove that you are in the wrong (if they can) and most JW's are too lazy or too wrapped up in the hamster wheel of JW life to sneak around on you. Only Elders would have the time to do that....and even than you can deny everything unless they have photos of you in bed with a worldly woman...in which case I'd have them arrested for stalking!!!!

greetings all...... i've been reading intently nearly every day on here.

it's like some sick addiction.

anyway, i'm constantly amazed when others on here relate stories of their relatives or ones in their congregations that are tired, depressed, sick, disgruntled, etc.

I've been reading intently nearly every day on here. It's like some sick addiction. Anyway, I'm constantly amazed when others on here relate stories of their relatives or ones in their congregations that are tired, depressed, sick, disgruntled, etc. I always find myself thing, no kidding? It's 2008, can you believe it! If someone had gone back in time and told my now deceased parents whom had just entered me into elementary school that somehow this system of things would still be around in 2008, I'm sure they'd become depressed, tired, and disgruntled as well!

Truly, can anyone on this board that was raised as a JW state that they thought we'd make it this far in the timeline and still be in the "this system of things?" Surely not. It was rammed down our throats as young ones that we'd never even graduate high school, much less have to work for a living to provide for a possible family we may have. Is there any wonder the sheep are wandering around like zombies? Only the fresh, new, young ones that are brought in or are too young to remember the rallying cries of the generation of 1914 dying off have any kind of zeal at all, and that quickly diminishes upon reaching high school graduation and having to enter the big bad world for the first times in their lives. It also ends for anyone doing any kind of research into their new-found faith or on the internet as nearly any person under 20 does for just about anything.

There is a man (now widowed) that when I was very young my parents originally studied with to become baptized. (early 1980's here) He was a down-to-earth gentleman with a kindly JW wife, and they had a son whom was in his late teens. This man was very opinionated and always had to chime in with his opinion on how he thought my parents should raise me - nevermind that his own son turned out horrible from their upbringing. They were hard workers but dirt poor, living in a trailer and raising their own animals in a make-shift barn. Uneducated, but nice, and completely engrossed in WT dogma. Anyway, I know he is still alive, and I am working up the courage to find his current residence (probably that same trailer) drive up some late Saturday, get out, introduce myself, and then procede to ask him what we are still doing here. When he asks what I mean, I'll flat out tell him this system of things. Why is my whole family dead, his wife dead, him elderly and me entering middle-age? Aren't we supposed to be in the New Order now petting lions and teaching the newly resurrected? (FYI - New Order is an old school term, and you were a die-hard if you used that term) I mean.....it all seems so surreal to me....still being here.....2008.....old system of things....a job, worldly wife and now son. I would like to ask him why I, or HE, should believe one word the WBTS puts forth anymore after being so dupped for so long. I would like to ask him what his blessing are for serving the WatchTower for so long? What have they done for HIM? Does the congregation take care of him, as my worldly relatives offered to do after each of my parents died? Of course we know they do not. What about the identifying marks Jesus said would identify his followers? I think just the reality of my straightforwardness would crack this poor aged man like an egg. That's half why I'm afraid to do it. I miss the guy, and feel terribly bad for him in all honesty. Part of me knows that if I had not, "made sure of all things," that somehow I would have end up like him - an old, used up piece of humanity living in some trailer with my son resenting me, nothing to show for my years of service (ok, maybe some kind of treasures in heaven, I don't know), with no retirement plans except for peddling literature. What a life!!!!

Somehow, I think this elderly brother's story is probably more typical than I myself can believe, and hence there are many depressed, tired, aged souls who are quickly realizing that not only has that generation of 1914 died off, but that 2014 is fast approaching. What a significant date in the minds of JW's whom are old enough to remember or care about what 1914 truly meant for us - seeing the New Order before that generation died off!!!!

And now? It's anyone guess as to when Christ's Kingom will come......and now the WT has again changed their doctrine. It's more of a mainstream Christendom doctrine now...instead of predicting dates - it's merely, "keep on the watch." And those of us old enough to remember the empty promises? We are left with our jaws hanging open wondering what's going on and why we spent so much time peddling those WT's and Awakes with the 1914 "Promise" printed on the front.

If that isn't reason enough to be depressed, tired, and disgruntled, I don't know what is.

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading my post.....I don't post that often anyway. Best regards to you all, and may Jesus light your way to His Father, Truth, understanding, and eventually His Kingdom. (when he decides it should come)

Witness owns Flower Shop-advertises-sells birthday-holiday arrangements

i have been away from the organization long enough not to know how this family is allowed to sell and profit from selling birthday and holiday gifts.

as far as i am aware they are active jw's.

they do a lot of advertising on the internet specifically for all the holidays and birthdays that jw's are not supposed to be involved in to the best of my knowledge.

It was awful

as i posted in a previous thread, i went to a friends funeral on friday( i'll call him peter).

it was my first time back to a kh in years.

as i walked in i overheard a "sister" telling her friend that she had to come straight from work and that's why she was wearing pants and that she hoped no one would think that she was "wordly".

That is awful, and I know how you feel. What surprised me about your experience, was that the service was only 20 minutes long. I mean, that is extremely brief. I remember funerals being nearly an hour, at least. This was back in the '8o's. In the 90's a more structured online was given, and now it seems it has gotten even shorter.

I have to say last year I was extremely lucky with my mother's funeral. Even though I was offered the KH, I had already set it up at a funeral home. A long-time Elder/family friend gave a very non-normal JW talk about what my mother and that she believed in the resurrection. Didn't say a word about JW's, 144,000, etc. This is probably due to my saying ahead of time that I thought JW funerals were an infomericial for the WT. As it went, I was very surprised and you guessed it - relieved - that I didn't hear an entire WT infomercial. In non-JW fashion, gave this Elder and his wife $100.00 and told them to have a nice dinner out on me. Previously, my father and grandmother's funerals were typical WT commercial. Boring, mind-numbing, disrespectful to the deceased.

I bet you got a good dose of the "Love" that made you want to leave in the first place, right?

do you remember judging and fearing the everyday activities of the people around you?

Here's how the Society can get out of the "anointed" dilemma

there's been several posts the past few days about the issues raised when the society dropped the "1935 as the end of the selection of the anointed" doctrine in may 2007 and reinforced the teaching with the 1/15/08 wt.. many ideas have been thrown out regarding how the society will be able to "spin" the almost assured large jump in memorial partakers this year and in following years.. it suddenly hit me how they can do it, and come out smelling like a rose:.

(warning: speculation ahead!).

go back to the "2 class" heavenly calling!.

I have to say that I think that's a really great guess.......even if speculative. I mean, that's almost exactly how I see it happening in reality anyway.

Doesn't Revelations state that the Great Crowd is in heaven, singing and bowing before God's Throne? It's a little read verse in JW land, but it's there. And I could totally relate to this and accept it. I think if they went back to this light, made the Memorial truly like a "communion service," people would not be so repulsed by the JW's. My worldy wife was totally aghast and repulsed by the Memorial I took her to, she was totally repulsed by the idea of "passing" the emblems instead of partaking of them as Jesus instructed. I'm hearing much the same on here about others whom have visited during the Memorial. Not partaking is what is known as a "denial of Christ," or so my research has told me.

Also, there seems to be alot of "regressive", "Old Light", being brought back and made "New Light." If the WT were to reinstate the old Russell idea of a 2-class heavenly kingdom and also the Paradise Earth, I think it would be pretty neat and also more believe as well as more main stream. I could find no fault with that reasoning to be honest. I have no problem with their being a literal 144,000 heavenly priests either. Big deal? Their are myriads upon myriads of legions of angels, so what's 144,000 ruling over a Paradise Earth with the Great Crowd observing and worshiping? Makes sense.

Good call, and good speculation. You may be ahead of them!!
