i'm giving 3 examples of this practice--that i know of personally.. .
my first wife--born in--divorced me over 30 years ago.
she totally shuns our son--now 38--d/f'd and now happily married and enjoying life to the max.. my pioneer partner--from the mid 60's-----he totally shuns his daughter---to the point of even ignoring her in the street.. a close friend of mine--in the 60's and 70's-----i was best man at his wedding.
Wow......the "Christian Love" shown by these posuers is ASTOUNDING.

Wow....the Adventist website and video's could EASILY be switched with JW.org videos. I find it amazing that growing up as a JW, I had never even heard of Seventh Day Adventists, even though I live in Pennsylvania, home to BOTH religions. Also, the similarities between the two is astounding. SDA is like JW-Lite. It's like SDA's believe nearly all the same things, even Paradise Earth, but celebrate all the holidays, yet still shun. My never-been-a-JW wife actually asked me about SDA's last week. I informed her I was actually looking into them and was interested when I decided to leave JW's, but once I saw their failed prophetic history, control, and SHUNNING methods, I told her it was just another flavor of CULT. No thanks!

over the past several months, we've seen a flood of youtube video's showing not just the advertising of the cities for the international conventions, but also of the "entertainment" happening at various convention halls and congregations.
examples would be the line-dancing, worldly music, dancing outside the conventions, etc.
many of us who grew up in this ultra-strict, thou-shalt-not cult are left with our jaws on the floor at this seemingly "worldly" display of showy, excessive, mainstream behaviour.. progress is happening.

Progress is happening. The old gaurd (Ted J. and others) from the greatest "Generation" have "passed away." The flood gates of progress have opened. The newer, younger Governing Body members are not as stupid as we'd like to think. They obviously have hired PR consultants to improve and upscale their out-of-date marketing and branding. There have been rumors that they now monitor these sites in hopes of staving off our sound logic with emotion based propoganda. We are now seeing the results. A facelift of the cult.....a long overdue facelift. Ted J, Nathan Knorr, and Freddy Franz must be knashing their teeth at this polished turd.
I find it curious.....very curious, about the more mainstream approach to music, singing, and even dancing that is happening and being shown online. These types of activities would have NEVER been allowed in the WatchTower of the past. People would have been marked or even disfellowshipped for such "brazen conduct." But this is no longer the "WatchTower." This is the new and improved JW.org we are talking about. I feel this unprecedented show of mainstream singing, dancing, and even choirs will become the new "normal" for congregations, and I also feel the orders came right from the top leadership to not only allow it, but encourage it as well. I fully expect to see JW choirs, piano's and other instruments appearing in Kingdom Halls in the near future. This is an attempt to appear more mainstream and less dull, and also to drum up some actual involvment with the stagnating Kingdom Halls. It is not a coincidence that these things are happening all around the country simultaneously. This ideas and been pushed and "allowed" right from the top down, and will continue on. I would not be surprised to see Congregation Picnics and other outings brought back and encouraged. Possibly even.....dare I say it? - Sunday School for youth? Why not? They already have a coloring/kid section in the publications. The set-up is there. They are trying to polish and shine their tarnished image up ala Scientology. I mean, how whacky is Scientology, right? Yet, it is sleek, cool, and techy in appearance and it still hooks unsuspecting, uneducated suckers right in. Truly, Satan makes his appearance as an, "Angel of Light."
I leave you with this fine new example of what we can expect to see more of. What shall I entitle this? The JW.org Tabernacle Choir? Why not.

PS: If admin could embed video right into post, that would be great. I can't figure it out.
mormon or jehovah's wittnesses... lds.org or jw.org... i almost can't tell the difference anymore, i remember saying mormons are crazy... lol i should have looked in the mirror.
just another modern day, western born, religious cult.
someone with a little money started a company.. .
Wow!!!!! The similarities in layouts between these two cult websites is incredible. I agree, they must have the same media consultant group doing work for them!
JW's used to take pride in being "no part of this world" and being different. Now, they are desperately trying to play "catch up" and look the same, in a desperate attempt to no longer look crazy. That's what this is all about....the website, the campaign, the sanitized new image.....a desperate attempt to not appear like the apocolyptic end-times 19th century Neo-Pharasitical cult that they are. It's now no longer even attempting to be about "Truth" anymore, it's all about image. JW.org is the Golden Calf.
Like so many others have stated, I don't recognize the religion that I grew up in.......it is a stranger to me.

from the wording of the letter it seems that the co has been given carte blanche with appointments and deletions.
nowhere in the letter does it indicate that any records are sent to and from the co to the branch office.
even if a body wants to delete an appointed brother and he disagrees his only recourse would be to write a "brief" letter to the service dept.
Incredible. Controlling, legalistic, CULT!
So the CO is to have a full report as to why you want to quit your "voluntary", unpaid, Elder position? How about, "None of your damn business!" I swear, the freakin' brass balls that these intrusive mo'fo's display is just incredible.
WT Legal's fingerprints are all over this letter, as apparently they are being raked over the coals and writing too many cheques to their victims. Death by a thousand needles to them I say. Did I mention lately how grateful I am to have escaped this mindf*ck?

my mentally in jw wife is trying to organize a "princess party" for my 4 year old daughter and her little cousins and friends.
she was looking at prices of a tent for the backyard party in case it rains.
she asked the hardware store how much and they said 90 dollars for the day.
You guys want to hear about "cold" in-laws? My 6-yr son & 14 yr old step-son went to a movie and lunch with their 16 & 20-yr old cousins and grandmother. At lunch, my 6-yr old son accidentally spilled his 20-yr old cousins iced tea on her outfit. He was given a prompt verbal lashing, to the point that people turned around to see what was wrong. She then opened her smartphone and proceeded to call him a "stupid brat" to hundreds of her followers on Twitter. I discovered this upon their return home that evening. My wife and I were outraged, and called her neice out on such behaviour. Know what my sister-in-law told my wife? To suck it up, get over it, and keep coming to family functions anyway. (EI: keep bringing forth the gifts!) My loving SIL also said, "Well, that's not the WORST he's ever going to be called." I have not seen or spoken to my neices in 4 years. The offending niece didn't even have the deceny to take down her hateful remarks, and these were after she had insulted me as well. (I had let that go, but not my son's remarks). She has since claimed that my son "acts older" so hence somehow deserves such a public belittlement. To add insult to injury, the grandmother has always preferred the grand-daughers, and so hence kisses their asses and allows them to get away with murder, and to hell with our family's hurt feelings or my son. Needless to say that due to this treatment and much, much worse since, we don't see or speak to my wife's sister's family, and pretty much not at all to her parents either. For daring to call them out on their hateful behaviour, my father-in-law told my wife last year that I'm no longer welcome in their home. He's 87. I hope he enjoys what little life he has left without his grandson, because I'll be damned if my son is going to be around someone like him or his toxic asshole of a family. They are holier-than-thou, self-centered narcassists who are masters at deflecting blame back upon their victims. I've never seen anything like it, and I'm appaulled; want nothing to do with them. They are Advent Lutherans. They can drop dead too.

i'm at starbucks .
just outside in the courtyard.. i'm trembling.
my hands are shaking.. wow!.
Terry,
Whatever you do, don't be hard on yourself. You did great, and got this young man to think, if even temporarily. Remember, he cannot "un-hear" what he has now been told. What you said may fester and grow and blossom until his mind is forced to open up and research and see this cult for what it is. Then, hopefully, freedom at last! Your interaction with him may just be the perverbial pebble in the pond, or pebble down the mountain picking up speed and mass.
In a few years, you may again see this young man, and he may thank you and relate to you his experience of leaving and entering college. What a fine "witness" you will receive that day! One can only hope. It was the things I heard whispered about as a young child (Russellites, measuring the pyraminds, 1975, etc) that got me researching the lunacy on the internet when I was 19 in 1998. What an awakening I had, and I find that I'm still learning on here even today old light that I had no clue about. (Blondie clued me into 1799 and Napoleon wars being sign of End of Gentile times or something and Barbour and others took that and ran with it, crazy!)

having been recently introduced to governing body member lett's "unique" speaking style, i found another video on youtube (and also on jw.org) of bro lett visiting the international convention in israel.
apparently his buffonery is not only reserved for video intro's to dramas, but also in real life as well.. i used to think those ol' time pentacostal and baptist ministers in tents would overdue it......i was wrong.
this guy has them all beat.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltvx_e4xe4e.
Mormons, SDA's, and Moonies have brought together Jews and Arabs as well. Doesn't make them any less a cult, or right either. lol.

THIS is the clown they sent to the very heart of the Jewish and Christian regions to speak? Maybe they figured he was the most expandable if WWIII broke out during the convention?
Anyway, a few items of note:
1:05: Is this the intrusive Elder shown in this years newest drama, the token black brother who stays in the filthy rich white family's basement apartment for a while and advises them on how to better serve JW.org....errr.....God? I think it is! I think they just inserted this guy for show! Talk about recycling actors! SIDE NOTE: He's grinning and shaking his head in the affirmative at Bro Lett like some ass-kisser. Meanwhile, the hot chick directly behind him (She is truly blessed with incredible features) is frowning at not having a husband yet and sitting thru this crap.
1:20: Here we are told the delegates were "particularily excited" when "on the first day, Governing Body member Stephen Lett" addressed them and blessed them with his very presence. How happi-fying! It really is like the Pope visiting and kissing their babies, isn't it? What an incredible statement to make on a very public address. The elevation and glorification of these "princes among men" continues to role on. SICKENING!!!!
1:23: Wide-eyed crazy person speaking! This guy would look right at home in the movie, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", as a resident! His posture is almost somewhat similar to Charlie Chaplin in silent movies.....like he's on marrionette strings or something. Is he a freakin' robot? Do you think Morris da Turd, or Mark Sanderson either 1.) pulls the strings or 2.) has their hand up Lett's azz, making him speak and move? One can only guess.
2:35: Here we see the banners made for the Brother Lett. They state, "We love you, and we'll miss you." Awwwwwl......look at the cute brainwashed cult members. No banners proclaiming love for Jesus or YHWH God, but let's all clap like seals and praise these men who rule over us. An incredible site......I've never seen anything like it.
I am so greatful to be out of this cult going on 15 years now. I could do cartwheels thinking about how I escaped such a controlling, man-made religion. My parents must be spinning in their graves if they can see this. At no time while I was growing up could anyone imagine being in the year 2014, and seeing such a twisted site as this. It is like some sick, twisted joke. I weep for the people still stuck in this farce and who truly believe these wolves in sheep's clothing.

old timers, or careful readers of the proclaimers book, are familiar with the "testimony card" used in the early days of rutherford-era door to door witnessing.
the jw would traipse up to a house, knock, hand the card over to the householder, and wait while he read it.. well, it seems that "everything old is new again".
here is an excerpt from a recent boe letter:.
So this is what the great teaching amd message of Jesus current Kingdom reign, and IMMINENT destruction of the wicked and the one lying in wait has come down to; handing out business cards without a word.
Aparently the stones WON'T be crying out, but these flimsy business cards with JW.org logo and scan will. How lame. Is this the best they can come out with? The dumbing down of this cult continues. It's like Animal Farm, except it's called WatchTower Farms. Jehovah = Gooood.......Worldly = Baaaad.
So all Pioneers have to do today to fabricate "time" to save their own skins is to stand beside a literature cart, or hand out business cards in a busy station and not say even a word? Hip-hip Hooo-ray! It's like Elmer Fudd joins Heaven's Gate: "Be vewy-veeewwwy qwuite....I'm huwnting convoits....hahahahahaha." ((Epic face palm))
The simplistic stupidity of this farce of a religion is just becoming more striking with each passing day. THIS is the best that God's true choosen mouthpiece on earth can come up? So Mormons, etc have their own satelite channels, and JW's are still handing out flimsy tracts and now lame business cards? Something is very, very wrong here. I can just see Lett handing out these cards with a crazy wide-eyed look and saying, "Would you like to learn more about how to worship our loving God, Gee-hoe-vaaaaah?" Then the recipient slowly backs away from the crazy man.
