My son is 10 years old. He's never set foot into a Kingdumb Hall.
If that isn't a testament to how I was raised and a gigantic F U to the WatchTower, than I don't know what is!
the wts struggles to survive in the 21st century, what with the internet, social media, instant communication, instant video, instant music, instant porn, er, not that i'd know anything about that last one... but anyhoo.... as they struggle to keep the young ones indoctrinated, they've finally realized that sitting in wt meetings four days a week, and knocking on doors at least once a week is not appealing to millennials, and with all the new technology at their fingertips, it doesn't take but a couple of clicks of a mouse to find enough disturbing info on the wts to encourage them to fade away.. so what to do?
well, if you can't beat em, join em.
after years of demonizing the internet, televangelists, showboating religious leaders, and discouraging anything that could lead a person to question their authority, they finally figured out they can't beat em.

so i just watched the singing cart video.
i literally cannot describe how i felt watching that.. growing up as a jw was serious business.
we had to take the preaching work seriously, watch our conduct, give a good witness by our actions, and be on our best behaviour to ensure we made it through the great tribulation.. when i was a child, i had dreams of being a cartoonist.
No. It's not your age, but it is the "age" into which you were born or have grown up. The computer age. It's now, regardless of a person's age.
I agree. I had many "red flag" moments growing up in this religion, but it wasn't until I was around 19-20 years old and working in my career that had internet access that I started looking online to answer my questions. This would have been 1998, and all I did was type in "Jehovah's Witnesses 1914" into the Yahoo! search engine. Imagine the search results that came back to me and the mountain of information I had to sort thru, and this was in 1998! It was a domino effect, and the effect is still continuing on thru today as I learn things from the past, from long before I was born or even my grandmother was born (1918) from long-time researched members like Blondie, etc.
I will sometimes state my age as a frame of reference for others reading. In hindsight, the 1980's were a critical decade I believe. It was after 1975, during the Cold War, and Ray Franz had just released his book. Meanwhile, the WatchTower released an entire series of articles in 1984 (ironic I know) focusing on 1914, The Generation, Biblical Prophecy, etc that whipped everyone into a frenzy that lasted up thru the early 1990's. The End just HAD to be SOON, because the old geezers born in 1914 were up in years, and the Great Tribulation would HAVE to erupt. Even as a young child, it had a great impact on me. After 1995, the balloon of urgency started to deflate, and it has been nothing but flaccid since then. The evolution of this cult is such that we are left with what we see now, a mere shadow of what once was. It truly is unrecognizable from the religion of 30 years ago. 2014 marked 30 years since those WatchTower articles, and also the 100 yr reign of Christ proposed by the WT. And here we are!!!! 15 years ago my young 20-year old self was floored that we had actually made it to the year 2000, a date my parents (and traveling speakers) assured everyone we would never see this side of the New System. Now, my 35 yr old present self can look ahead 15 years and see age 50 being in this old System of Things. It was something that I was not prepared for, at ALL. I was told (no, promised!) that I would NOT grow old. In 15 years, my son will be 25. He has never set foot into a Kingdom Hall, so I guess I should be thankful that I have spared him the mind-rape that we have been thru.
And as for the WatchTower? There is ZERO sense of urgency emanating from that cult about "The End" or anything else like it used to be. Forget that type and anti-type "rhetoric", that's "Old Light." The focus has shifted drastically from end-times apocalyptic doomsday bible-thumpers, to real estate and techno-cool hipster dufos flavor-of-the-day, all smiles, join our happy-happy joy-joy everyday run of the mill religion. Look at our new website and apps! Look at the cool new age churches......errr.....Kingdom Halls we are going to build, with all the latest techno crap crammed into a sterile box that looks exactly the same no matter where you go! Come visit our new worldwide Headquarters up in the middle of New York, next to a lake, where we suppress outside information and work the slaves half to death! While you are there, be sure to kiss the pinky rings and Rolex watches of our Spiritual Overlords, the REAL 144K living it up in the ivory towers. What an incredible sight to behold. I do believe I heard the Harlot nearing her Grand Climax upon the Wild Beast.alert..............alert.....breaking news .......... john cedars of jwsurvey has pranked called governing body member anthony morris iii at bethel .
over 2 minutes of pranking .
as i type he is editing the recording into a video .
What I want to see, is a video where Tony Morris is confronted by Rick Fearon on a public NYC street. After TMIII refuses to debate with Rick, Rick then produces a cream pie and puts it into TMIII's face. Now THAT, would be funny as h*ll.
Cedars deep-seated anger towards the religion is what is being produced here. He's so angry at what the religion did to him that he'll stop at nothing to insult them.
since everything in life is supposed to be created by god, why did he create mosquitos, and vampire bats?.
mosquitos and vpbats live by taking in blood from other animals, and well humans too.
so my question is.....why would he forbid blood transfusions , when he made creatures who live off of others blood?
I think more balanced view would be something like this:
All things created by God in nature have to have balance. You cannot have infinite growth forever and ever, so hence creatures were created to balance out life with death. You cannot have one without the other.
You all think too much. Classic! Thinking bad......glorifying the GB, good! Be a good sheep now and stuff that contribution box, as we don't want to make our Spiritual OverLords mad at us?

@ Nosferatu:
Your opening post could have been written by me, as it expels upon exactly how I feel as well. The Generational mind-f*ck was hard enough to take in, now all of THIS crap? But then again, look at the "why". I am 35. Of the 10-15 people in my age group from the local Kingdom Halls and that I went to school with, I believe 2 are still "in". Everyone else left.....even ones I thought at the time were "die-hards" got fed up with it before they were 21 and LEFT. Some were DF'd, but most just did a "fade", wherein they moved out of their controlling parents homes, moved away, and never set foot into a Kingdom Hall again. Seeing the "dignified" religion of my youth turned into this worldly, pathetic, undignified, joke of a cult has really left me with my jaw on the floor. If my parents were still alive, they would be OUT. No way would this fly with them. No way. My late mother died in 2007, and as I reflect on just the past 8 years it looks like a different religion. My mom was pretty much out anyway (had all of Ray Franz's books before me!) and if she'd be alive today she'd call pure BS for sure.
This cult has sold out, jumped the shark. They are as irrelevant as Scientology, and just as big a joke. The hypocrisy to have an internet TV channel showing 3rd world crap-hole congregations barely surviving, while you are wearing a designer suit and $22,000 Rolex, is just too much to handle. It's a real sight to behold. I'm glad I never donated much money as a child to this farce of a religion.
i just started to watch the february broadcast when i noticed a metallic rattle over the drone of sam's voice.
(does that man speak with a mouth full of chowin' tobacco or is he choking on the rubbish he reads off the autocue?).
yep it's his rolex.
@ Cantleave:
Yeah, I was thinking the bezel colour was off, and the dial is weird. I think it's an Invicta diver with their gold "meterorite" style dial. That, or just a plain old fake. (just like the GB)

So THIS is what the Congregation funds bought! Freakin' thieving basturds!
PS: I'm very fond of Glashutte Original, Evo Sport GMT suits me just fine!

This interests me, as I used to be pretty big watch enthusiast, with a decent collection.
The polished center links of the bracelet give it away as a true Rolex. Even Invicta's don't really have it like that. However, the purple reflection off the rotating bezel makes me want to say it's a fake. Real Rolex's don't really have a purple hue.....it's more blue, though different lighting can cause this effect.
I find it amazing that it's not even a "regular" gold Rolex Submariner....oh no! It's one with a "Serti" dial. This would extra $$$$$$ for sure.
Possibilities:
1. Real Rolex Submariner with Serti dial. Sam could claim a rich brother bought it for him, but what does it say that Sam kept it? Imagine how many Kingdom Halls a $22,000 USD Rolex watch could build in Africa, where Andre probably lives?
2. Fake Rolex Sam bought off the NYC street. Probably cost $75.00. It's fake, and what does that say about Sam being such a gigantic POSUER that he's wearing a fake watch to represent the one "True" religion? Irony anyone?
3. Possible Invicta homage. Invicta makes some good cheap watches, and they did at one time make one with a gold Serti dial. You can still buy them if you look around.
Hey, Judge Rutherford had not 1, but 2 16 cylinder Cadillac's during the Great Depression while JW's suffered. What's a Gold Rolex and an Infinity to these guys? Pocket change.
