Also, fully automatic firearms are not legal in the United States unless you possess the proper tax stamps, and MONEY to obtain them. It also requires an extensive, thorough background check and interview. Only people with excessive amounts of money even own fully automatic weapons. Case in point, the HK MP5 9mm sub-machine gun. Full auto runs minimum $15,000, and that's on top of the $500+ BATF tax stamp. You can't even sell conversion kits for full autos, or similar. Open bolts sold must be from 1986 or before, and again are carefully licensed by BATF.

You guys in Cananda, (and many in America), are completely ignorant of our laws and biased due to the ignorant and lazy reporting of the US news media. 99.95% of what people call "assault rifles" and "machine guns", are in fact semi-auto and NOT machine guns. (machine guns are bolt-open) I laugh at the people that don't even understand the classifications for firearms, much less what they are used for.

As has been stated, firearms are NOT the problem. Mental Health of people is the problem. Before OKC bombing, anyone could buy barrels of Ammonium Nitrate. Not so afterward....now it's carefully watched and cataloged, and you'd better be a farmer using the proper amount for your size field!!!!!

In the 1980's, then President Reagan started the de-regulation and de-funding of our mental health system. It has spiraled out of control since then. My mother was an RN, and worked for 10 years in the psychiatric ward of her hospital. (in the 1990's.) There are not enough places to put all the people, and 99% of the state run hospitals/asylums/institutions have been shut down. Big Pharmacia has promoted this, because they want everyone to be medicated. But guess what? No one can afford their sh*t, and half the nut-cases stop taking the meds once they "feel better." This is especially true of schizophrenics, because the meds make them groggy and feel awful, so they go off them once they feel "normal." They soon relapse, worse than ever! There are more people than ever in this country, and instead of more mental institutions we have less than ever before.....but plenty of drugs which only the elite or people on welfare can afford.

99% of the "mass murder" or "spree killings" like in movie theaters, schools, etc are committed by paranoid, delusional, schizophrenics, who stole weapons from family that they knew legally had them somewhere. The rest are THUGS and gang-bangers, or addicts using weapons to steal money for illegal drugs.

"Gun Show Loophole" is a media-hyped MYTH. Everyone selling at Gun Shows is an FFL dealer, and required to do the BATF insta-check, right on the spot. This is where they call in to the state and fed government to verify your ID, your background, etc. There is no "loophole". That is all BS!!!!!

In the USA, if he had been involuntarily committed to a mental institution, a felon, dishonorably discharged from the military, had any time of domestic abuse charge, PFA against him, open warrants for his arrest, history of drug use, then he would immediately by flagged by the insta-check system that ALL ATF licensed FFL dealers use when selling firearms. Either that, or he obtained the firearm illegally by stealing it, or buying it from someone else on the street who stole it themselves. That, or he obtained it legally because he had no priors (like I mentioned above), and then went nuts.

Crazy is crazy. If he wanted to kill them, he could have doused them with gasoline and lit a match. He could have run them over with a truck as they walked to their newsvan. He could have dropped cement blocks on their heads from above as they left this interview. If someone is determined to kill, they WILL. Look at all the knife/machette attacks in China, Asia, etc. Sheesh.

Honestly, I don't want to talk guns vs. no-guns. This man could have had a Samurai sword and walked up and decapitated / stabbed these people, as oblivious as they seemed to be.

He was nuts. He was also probably paranoid (everyone out to get him, keep him down, etc). This is a common trait of high-control groups and Cults - PARANOIA and the "Us vs. Them" mentality that they shove down your throats from the cradle to the grave. He may have thought these people had demons in them and were trying to hold him back in life......persecuted by white demons, etc and in his disgruntled mental state, up and killed them.

And like one poster stated above, all of these cases of murder by JW's is really high. Is it any wonder? Cult members (and ex-members) tend to be depressed, anxious, paranoid, schizos, angry, suffering from PTSD, etc, etc.

Guns aren't the problem; nutcases obtaining them thru theft is the problem.

Only a very, very small minutia of people kill other people with firearms in this county. More people are killed in automobiles by drunk drivers. The news media's constant portrayal of "gun nuts" 24/7 is what is causing the hysteria and copy-cat effect.

Israel and Switzerland (high ratio of gun ownership) ? You don't have these problems. It's also social problems and race baiting going on. I love to target shoot (I don't even hunt), and I'm not giving up my firearms because of thugs bein' thugs and ruining it for everyone else.

I just have to say, what I am most stunned about from his 1st person shooter video, is the fact that the reporter and the woman being interviewed didn't seem to notice this large, imposing, muscular man wearing all black holding and pointing a full-sized GLOCK only feet from them????????? Did these people not posses peripheral vision? I understand the camera-man not seeing the shooter, as he had a large camera at the side of his head.....but the two women?

And please don't misunderstand my post; I am NOT victim-blaming them. This was NOT their fault. The shooter was obviously a sick individual who was probably fed up with "the system" and/or "whitey", cause he mentions the reporter using hate speech against him, etc. However, I am just stating that I'm stunned at how oblivious people seem to be today of their surroundings. I see it all the time. Then again, my father was in the military and taught me growing up to be aware of my surroundings, exits, etc. Hell, I never sit in a restaurant with my back towards the door or windows. I always have a clear line of sight. Guess that's a rarity today. It shouldn't be, as people are freakin' evil and crazy today!!!!!!

Here is a youtube video of his Twitter account, where you can clearly see him mention being in the JW's as a child. This was a sick individual. How much of the "sick" was caused by the JW upbringing and environment? It will be interesting to see if the newsmedia picks up on this aspect of his past.
