  i salute you.. when i was in, i was a brainwashed idiot.

  it instilled an arrogance and made me part of a community that contributed to your suffering.. i remember when i would see a jw parent drag their teens to the meeting.

  some of these parents had converted recently, some had been some years.

  I feel ya. I'm 37. I was never baptized, but myself and so many of my JW peers are looooong gone. I'd say 95% of the kids my age left, DA'd, DF'd, or moved and faded, never to be heard from again. All of the old timers (including my parents) have passed away. What is left of this religion? Not much, not much at all. I'm old enough to remember all of the scare mongering of the 1980's Generation/1914 nonsense, which eventually built up into "this System won't last past the year 2000." The year 2000 was 16, almost 17 years ago. Crazy! I have a son who is now 12. He has NEVER set foot into a Kingdom Hall - EVER - and probably (hopefully) never will. What for? A lifetime of servitude, poverty, ignorance, & misery? "Best life ever!" - my azz!

  The internet has become a total game-changer for people in cults. The "truth" is only a mouse click away!

  Got my JC cancelled... (at least for now)

  so my wife and i have been in the process of fading for a few months now as per my original post here.

  about a week ago, i was browsing some ex-jw facebook groups when i saw a post that linked to the crisis of conscience book.

  i said "f@(k it" and hit share on it.. a few hours later, i get a long text letter from my mom (who was a fb friend of mine) telling me the typical "good luck finding friends in the world" and how we have "nothing in common anymore"; basically, it was a 'farewell' text.

  I would have called that Elder back and asked him what he's talking about? Then, when he claims you shared a link to CoC on your Facebook account, I would have acted totally SHOCKED!!! Shocked I tells ya! I would have feigned complete ignorance, and said that my iPod had been stolen somewhere, and that an apostate had hacked my Facebook account and created that post. How would the Elder's prove otherwise? They couldn't. I'd lie my ass off, then lie some more, and the top it off with a sprinkle of more lies. "Theocratic Warfare" at it's best. They'd never get me, and I'd NEVER do anything on social media that could nail me down, and I was never even baptized, nor do I have any living JW relatives!

  my new girlfriend asked me over dinner last night what jw's believe.

  as i sat there explaining it i realized how ridiculous it sounds and was slightly embarrassed that i used to believe this crap for 31 years.. try and read this and imagine hearing it for the first time.... me: well... jw believe that god's name is jehovah and that his son is jesus christ.

  they believe that jesus died on a stake and not a cross and that in the year 1914 he personally chosen the jw's as his one true religion.

  the new broadcast is - predictably - about being loyal to the gb.it's a shut up and sit down message.. one of the funny things they keep bringing up is the correlation between the gb and moses.those who don't listen to the gb are like korah.. this is a false choice, why?let's look at a quick comparison.

  (this is from the point of view of the bible).

  was moses directly picked by god?- yeswas the gb directly picked by god?- well no, we actually are not told how the gb are picked and why the qualify.. did god talk to moses?- yesdoes god talk to the gb- no, they admit they are not in direct communication.. did god inspire moses to write laws and judge.- yesdoes god inspire the gb to write laws and judge.- no, they admit they are not inspired, and they are always wrong and need to change things all the time.. did god give the israelites undisputable proof that moses is his channel?- yes, many miracles visible to everyone one around happenddoes god give jws undisputable proof that the gb are his channel?- no, there is no proof, actually contrary.. was moses ever wrong?- nohas the gb ever been wrong?- every time.

  Mandatory Tithing? Never say never! Imagine if you will, going back in time 30 years to 1986 and telling your former JW self that in 30 years not only would the New System NOT yet be here, but that the Book Study in homes would be deleted, Field Service would consist of standing by carts, cartoons would used to "teach" children, videos would be shown at conventions, and ATM's would be located to donate quickly. Oh! And that you'd be all lovey-dovey with the GB Members, as they parade around televangelist style!!

  Now ask yourself, what would your 30-years younger self had said to all of THAT? So "mandatory tithing", doesn't sound so far-fetched now, does it?

  like when he interviews a couple with 60 years service, the wife (who looks like hillary clinton) says how she had to leave missionary work because she was diagnosed with a serious illness while on vacation in the usa.

  then she says her husband had to get a job so he could pay her medical bills and i'm thinking where is jehovah's organization in all this.

  I've been saying it and saying it for a very long time:

  The money, help, and "love", only flow one way in JW-Land, from the average rank-n-file member to the top. Nothing is EVER reciprocated. The "Sheep" take care of the "Shepherd" in this pseudo-religious cult.

  So that Missionary with 60 years service, was left out in the cold to fend for herself, with absolutely nothing to show from the Org she served her entire life except, "....go forth, be warm, and well fed" ? And that poor husband, left to do it all on his own, with probably zero real life work skills, etc. Such is the "warm Christian Love", that oozes from this self-centered, self-serving, money-grubbing empire. "Charity" is not in the JW.borg's vocabulary. Neither is care, sympathy, or empathy.

  As always, "the beatings will continue, until morale improves."

  the new "business plan" for jw.org in europe has already received a name within the org: european prospective 2017-2022.. this plan is already on the table of the big guys in the us.

  in the practice it has been already getting the approval of the majority.

  so, no surprise at all to vote it.. essential features of the "business plan":- sale of all branches in the eu, except germany and uk (the latter benefits from brexit and certain privileged position)- all printing and digital material prepared and printed from germany- in each country, a local liaison office is left, certainly no more than 3-4 families.- free part-time worker is boosted from home, cheaper and hastle-free !- money to the new entity formed in belgium, as a non-profit organization (ibsa goodbye ...)- the most complicated ... who will care for the data of european jw ... confidential information and color envelopped with sensitive information.... enjoy the new european jw times !.

  So much for all that growth, aye? And when asked about such changes, the GB can claim that, "The preaching work is done! We're just waiting out the Great Tribulation, which may have already started!", and the pigeons will just bob their heads in agreement. It's a far, far cry from the religion I was raised in in the 1980's. Wow!

  just wanted to say hello, i have been visiting this site for a very long time and i feel like i know so many of you already, now you can get to know me but for now i'm fading so i cant give my complete story.

  i'm single but have "hardcore" siblings in the religion, thankfully i do have family who never expressed interest in the jws.

  i really checked out years ago from to much mental abuse and no recognition for all that i gave to this organization.
