Using personal car for their "service"...car is getting worn out
by Sugar Shane inquestion: an individual (non-jw, let's say) loans a car to a jw family member, to drive for a year.
car is intended to be used for basic transportation needs.
the non-jw gets car back, only to find that it's basically been driven into the ground, racking up countless miles being used for d2d preaching, and shuttling other jws around.

Look, if you lent one of your kids (or stepkids) one of your older vehicles as a first car, good for you!
If you didn't "lay down the law" with said relative about how to treat, maintain, and let in the car, that is on YOU!
If you did not bother to look over the car's tires, engine, fluids, paint, shocks, exhaust, interior leather, etc for an entire YEAR, that is on YOU!!!
But will answer your question. If your relative was engaged in door-to-door field ministry as a regular pioneer racking up many hours per month, and this was a 4-door vehicle, than you can be damned sure that the Service Overseer or Group Overseer for any particular day, at some point in time, assigned a group of people to "your" vehicle throughout the month, and it racked up many, many miles. It would have been up to your relative to put their foot down and say "no, this is my parent's car, not mine, so we can't use it." But who under cult control is going to say that, and risk raised eyebrows, when they can instead be seen in a positive light?
If you are looking for someone to blame, look in the mirror. If it's your car in your name, this falls on you. If car is all messed up due to kids' treatment of it, there is an easy remedy for this: Immediate removal of car and kick them off your insurance. I'm saying this as a father AND a step-father whom taught my step-son to drive, loaned him $7,000 for a near-mint 2001 Audi TT (one owner, an older lady), and then watched him beat the shit out of it over the course of 4 years until it was unrecognizable. It took him 5 years to fully pay me back, which he did. He did pay for all repairs and insurance. It was a learning experience for myself, and him. I was responsible at 16. My father let me drive his BMW. Hell, I did the tune-ups and oil changes on it! Far cry from my step-son, who I had to show where the oil dip-stick was. My son on the other hand, could probably handle it. Either way, lesson learned. Some kids can handle nice things, others can't. Gotta gauge each one, and go from there.

This was absolutely brilliant! I caught something in the beginning of Earl's introduction that maybe others hadn't mentioned yet. Earl was definitely of the mindset that HE'D be the one to lead the conversation, and just ASSumed that Terry would be a meek, gullible, malleable, SHEEP that he could lead around with a WT leash. WRONG. I loved how right from the start Terry wasn't going to play "WT Ball" and immediately cut off the prayer, etc. I really feel like Earl was a presumptuous ass for automatically assuming Terry was some sort of Christian to begin with. How insulting! Terry could have been a Jew, Buddhist, Muslim, or Atheist, and asking someone of a different faith to up and pray to Jehovah is absolutely insulting!!!
The best part for me, was the set-up at the end. Will this guy be back? Who knows? He might be back with more questions than answers. We can only hope. Good job Terry!

Governing Body Members Autographing Bibles
by HereIgo ini have an online ex jw friend who pointed out to me that she stumbled upon a may 15, 1999 watchtower that had pictures of governing body members autographing bibles for people.
i have no bound volumes or cd rom copies anymore so i can verify.
two things came to mind, if this is true:.

Let's all notice one of the paragraphs shown. It actually talks about "paying them their due, showing them respect." Hold on a minute, I thought there weren't any CLERGY in the WT Organization? That Jesus was the only Master? Oh wait....I forgot......we have OVERSEERS, just like the SLAVES and PROPERTY that we are!!!!! In the WatchTower Cult, you are no longer an individual deserving of respect or treated as an individual human being. Nope!! You are the WT's, and by extension (Since they are Christ's ruling Brothers) SLAVES and PROPERTY. After all, the Governing Body is merely "keeping watch" out over Christ's possessions, until his actual return.
There, hope that clarifies how, in fact, these ruling class OVERSEERS are in fact a "higher clergy" and with that STATUS goes their "due respect" as YOUR MASTER.

Cart Witnessing in Giethoorn, Netherlands (My recent experience)
by Alfred inso i visited the netherlands last week and decided to stop by giethoorn.
this is a town whereby many (if not most) of the homes are accessed by small boats via narrow water canals.
during the summer months, the residents of this isolated picturesque town welcome visitors with their seasonal tourist attractions such as canal cruises on eco-friendly boats, restaurants and a small museum which highlights the history of the town.

JWs MUST Accept The Watchtower Teachings EVEN When They Are Wrong!
by minimus inisn't it unbelievable that a jehovah's witness must accept whatever the organization says or they can be disfellowshipped??
unless they tell you that their understanding has changed, you cannot believe anything unless they say it's ok. .
many years ago i questioned them about their ridiculous view that whenever the word "heart" was mentioned, it was a literal blood filled organ.

2 + 2 = 5
If Fred Franz held up a black bible and said it was Green, then it was Green.
A figurative number X A figurative number = A literal number
The measurements inside the pagan Great Pyramid of Giza = Proof of CT Russel's Truth!
See? It all makes so much logical and biblical sense! Why, even a fool can see that this is obviously da Truth! Now sell your possessions, get to Pioneering where the need is great, donate all your $$$ to the WTBTS, and take a vow of poverty.

Question...
by ironsnake656 inwhen you were an active member in the jwland, did you expect to receive any kind of help from a brother/sister, but they did not help you?
when i was in the jwland, i expected and was my belief that any brother/sister will help you in time of need, distress or trouble, because we were part of a "lovely organization".
but countless of times when i needed and asked for help, nobody from the org helped me.

I've been saying this for YEARS about the JW cult: Money only flows one way, from the rank-n-file Sheeple's wallets, to the Org's coffers! No money EVER comes back down out of the Ivory Towers, EVER!!!!
Jesus said you'd know his followers by the love they show one another. That the greatest acts of love were to love thy neighbour, and to care for widows and orphans. So tell me, how does the WT measure up? How many retirement homes, orphanages, soup kitchens, hospitals, treatment clinics, homeless shelters, community clothing drives, etc do they operate? Answer: ZERO. They beg for little Suzy's ice cream money, and show an old woman with an empty fridge donating in the contribution box, but give absolutely NOTHING back to the Sheeple. Is this how a "Fine Shepherd" tends to the Flock? Absolutely not! It's how a wolf in sheep's clothing, operating a money-sucking, mind-controlling CULT acts though!

You luv watches, but in your original photo you are not wearing one. Haha!!!!
I'm an oldtimer from WatchUseek, Timezone, Poor Man's Watch Forum, etc. I mean from like 15+ years ago and up until about 2007. My collection was easily $15K at one point. (Omegas, other Swiss watches, etc)
I cured my watch addition, but am instead into firearms and nice EDC knives, etc now. Oh man.
