Children dumped at ministry group
by Mikejw init’s not right for children to be forced to come to ministry groups on their own without their parents.
the parents just expect others to look after them.. we have this happening at our group all the time.
early teens and even younger.. the parents just want them out of the house for a bit and put the burden on others to look after them and get them home safely.. there should be an announcement or something that youths need to be accompanied by a responsible adult and not just dumped at the group on their own.. who is supposed to look after them?.

Parents just want some "alone time" to practice the "3-fold-chord" missionary position in private.

@road to nowhere:
It's true that things are "borrowed" from time to time in literature, one would not expect something like this in such divinely inspired works as what WatchTower puts out? Why, that's unclean! Then again, they've done it before. The one pic of a beautiful woman (in red) in the water.....I think was in the Live Forever book and also a WT article, was actually lifted from some worldly publication. Total plagiarism. Still can't believe WT wasn't sued over that one, even if it was the 80's.

You can't make this shit up! LOL!!!!
Someone over on Reddit posted this illustration from some WT publication or website or whatever. The caption they had was, "Who sings like this?" Like in a weird group, but almost choir looking? Here it is:
Anyhow, that's not what caught my attention. Nah. As a long-time viewer of the NBC comedy skit show "Saturday Night Live", I was immediately drawn to one woman in particular. Church Lady!!! This was a notorious skit played by Dana Carvey in the 80's-90's.
I'm glad to see that (whomever is left) in the WT Art Dept apparently has a sense of humour. Oh the irony, of seeing "Church Lady" singing "Kingdom Melodies."
Now who could have put such humourous, impure thoughts into an artist at WT HQ? Whom did that? Could it have been:
SATAN?

AKA: WatchTower Cult Compound.
"Campus" makes it sound like an institute of higher learning, which it so obviously is not.

Uh.....good luck finding a JW in Muslim countries. Most Muslim run countries restrict or outright BAN other religions. There isn't enough money in the world that would get me to the Middle East or Asia right now. This isn't only due to religious strife, but also the air quality. The 100 worst cities for air quality are in Asia and the Middle East. You're literally taking years off your life by moving there.

I'll say this about JW attire "rules".............
Even as a child, I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that an Almighty, all powerful God actually gave a shit what you wore to worship him. Also, why were we mimicking the world by dressing to the nines in "business attire" like it's the 1950's? Ahhhhh! But you see, to the JW leadership it still WAS the 1950's. That's where GB 1.0's heads were stuck, the 1940's and 50's. Even my late parents (born 1947, 1952) were into that; living like it was "Leave it to Beaver." It was horrible.
Today, having to redo and clarify these Pharasitical "rules" about dress and grooming is ridiculous, and only serves to prove the point that they're a micro-managing, iron-fisted, CULT.
No child wants to dress up in a monkey suit in 90 F heat to go knocking on doors on a Saturday. I know I sure didn't. I hated every single second of the farce. Complete waste of time and youth.

Moving on in a new chapter
by redsetter2 inmoving on is the hardest thing anyone has to cope with.. i have officially left the org.
and now it feels my family have been waiting to do this for a long time, officially shunning me, even though they were practically doing this whilst i was still in.. it feels like i've accomplished a victory and at the same time i feel guilty i was tangled up in communication with someone who "hid who they were" claiming to leak information from bethel.
i got the call from the man who i thought i worked with.

Say, would your source happen to be, "Johhny the Bethelite"? I heard he's an NPG at WT HQ who's DTF on the DL, but refuses to come out of his closet because he'd be DOA by EOTD and labeled a BA and then sent packin' by his COBE, and I'm not talking packin' fudge, unless his DO is also on the DL, in which case he might get off with a secret DP and BJ followed by laundry duty. -

What's the Worst Advice You Heard of an Elder Giving Someone?
by Sea Breeze ini believe an an elder told someone who's daughter (14 yo) became sexually active with a 26 year old in the neighborhood, that maybe they should get married.
so, they did... with parental consent.
he turned out to be a ex-convict who shot his first wife in the face with a shotgun.

@TonusOH:
You are correct, the UN declared 1986 "The International Year of Peace." Interestingly, the first US-USSR summit between Reagan and Gorbachev were in Reykjavík, Iceland, in October 1986. So this really pushed the hype even further, as October has always had special prominence in JW past lore.
@LongHairGal:
I was very young in 1984; 5! But I can still see and remember these issues of the WT literature as clear as a bell in my mind. (though my nearly total recall photographic memory helps, I can even smell memories at times)
I too often wonder what people back then would think about today. For reference, I'm now 44. My entire JW family that I grew up with? Dead. ALL of them. All of the older ones my parents studied with and adored? That cared for me? Dead. ALL of them. They were kinda elderly then. Add to that, that 9 out of 10 JW youth that were my age have LEFT, never to return and you've got a weird vibe now. Only the most die-hard homeschooled children of Elders & Sister Piosneer Elderette's are the only ones that stayed. Anyone desiring a normal life or just plain fed-up with the hypocrisy, lies, false hope, and two-faced congregation BS, up and left - never to return!
It's a real shit show now....unrecognizable as the religion I was born and raised in. Always was kinda a cult, but now it's like they're not even really trying to hide it, it's an open secret. And any "worldly" person who MIGHT be interested, soon loses interest after a 5 minute Google search.
It's so bizarre to look back now after this much passing of time. Like, I pity my poor dead parents for not having the resources at their fingertips we all have now. I'd have been spared this BS and had a chance at a normal childhood and education.
