Wow.......this shit is truly warped. Wish I could say I'm surprised, but I'm not, cause I've heard/seen it happening where I'm from.

She had a hard life to be sure, but she also sounds like a covert narcissist, or at least NPD.
Classic signs are: lack of empathy, a "pity me" attitude, favourtism towards children (Golden Child vs Scapegoat), needs to be center of attention, drama queen, never wrong, has to have their own way, martyrdom complex.
Yep, probably a narcissist.

Facing My Mortality And Becoming A Donor
by pale.emperor inthis thread is quite morbid so i apologize in advance.. a few days ago i was having a conversation with my girlfriend in which she mentioned in passing that she's signed up to donate her organs after her death.
i was quite surprised because she mentioned it like it was no big deal.
i asked her which organs.

I also am an organ donor. In the USA's quite simple. When you go to renew your driver's license, they put it on.
My mother needed an organ transplant. She got it, but unfortunately it did not take and she died 3 months later after severe complications. However, without the transplant she would have certainly died anyway. It gave her one more chance than she had. Also, she had a high survival rate. It was just a fluke.....a failure of the new organ to function properly.

See, I don't get this about the food situation. Newboy claims food was scarce, so does Marcus Vaughn. Then you have Morpheus (also a trusted source on here), claiming food was abundant.
So, who do you believe?
I honestly believe it's a bit of both. Allow me to explain. I think it comes down to the job you work, and the table you are assigned. How so?
If you have a labour intensive job, you need more calories to function vs a sedentary job sitting in the Writing Dept or similar. And depending on your table head and where you sit at the table, you could be left with next to nothing to eat!!!!! Lunch (at least at the old NY location) wasn't some sort of cafeteria buffet, though it SHOULD have been!!!!!! Your table head had to get the platter and give it to the waiter and go, "Please Sir, may we have some more???" And then you got some more chicken, maybe a breast, IF you were lucky and at the head of the table, not the foot.
So, if you worked bindery, had a room farthest away, sat at the foot of the table, you were starved to death!!! However, if you worked in the Administrative Office, had a closer room (less walking) and sat at the head of the table, you were juuuuuuust fine!
So the reality is (at the old Bethel anyway, not sure how the new HQ is) it was much like a Nazi Concentration Camp. It's who you knew, your circumstances, and sometimes just a lot of pure luck.
I believe Newboy. I believe _Morpheus, and for damn sure I believe Marcus Vaughn. Marcus being one of the newer ones having been let go within the last 2 years. Also, his experiences totally match other experiences I have heard come out of Bethel to a "T", so it's not "BS" or exaggerations. Bethel is a physical and spiritual prison.

Classic situation at Circuit Assembly Day
by freddo inso i've just skived off to the car park half way through our assembly day - what a classic morning.. i'm sat right behind an early-teen kid with some sort of special needs (autistic?

(or married to an unbelieving mate?

@LongHairGal:
Well, just look at the names of most of the Governing Body Members that have ever lived. Sounds like some old German WWII troop reunion. Russell, Franz, Knorr, Henschel, Loesch, and the list goes on and on. It's only recently that they've included some British/Australian accents and (gasp!) an actual man of colour! You really have to research the history and period of time that the IBSA (Bible Students, AKA JW's) developed in order to truly understand their terminology, origins, and seemingly unique belief system. Here in Pennsylvania, we actually still have Dawn Bible Students around!! There are also Quaker and Christadelphian Meeting Houses, but they are few and far between, and some even museums due to being so old and historic. Boston also has quite a few, as America's founding fathers were usually Quakers, Christadelphians, Puritans, or Atheists. Most all were slave owners ironically.

By the way, "Order" is a term used in this area (Pennsylvania, Ohio) to describe certain sects. We have Old Order Amish, Old Order Mennonite, etc. They also use the term "Friends". Again, you'd have to be familiar with the multitude of religious movements and their history as it pertains to Pennsylvania.

It's actually quite simple. A lot of these terms come from the area of the cult's inception. You have to understand the religious demographic of the time, in the state of Pennsylvania and New York area. CT Russell was exposed to a multitude of different religions and groups of this area. They all had their impact on him, his not-so-unique belief structure, etc. We have Quakers, Adventists, Calvinists, Christadelphians, and various Masonic Orders and Lodges. ALL of these influenced CT Russell.
Saying "The Friends" is quite common in Quaker and Christadelphian Meeting Houses. And oh gee, "Meeting Houses" sure sounds familiar, huh? JW's attend "Meetings" and listen to "talks", instead of going to Church and hearing sermons? In the early days, CT borrowed a TON of imagery directly from the Masons. Back then, they were waiting for the "New Order", (now New System) to come. New World Order, is completely Masonic, as are "Assembly Halls", etc.
The belief in adult baptism (as opposed to child baptism and confirmation) is Ana-baptist, as are other beliefs stemming from Calvinism. Arianism and end-times BS are purely Adventist Annihilationism.
So you see, many of these terms have filtered down thru the years from the times in which this religious order began. Now, it's a full-blown CULT. Back then, I'd say it was an odd, but uniquely pieced together (from everything else around here) religious Order.
