Yeah, they can talk. They say this while the VIPs go to sit in the fancy clubhouses of each convention site and enjoy air-conditioning, no noises from the rank and file, comfortable seats, no-wait ultra-clean restrooms for their wives and daughters, even tv reception of the program while they talk about 'theocratic' issues throughout the convention.

Control damn it! April 2004 KM on How to Behave at the Conventions
by truthseeker inmy god, this is worst than last years.
i'm not writing the whole thing out, but here are some "convention reminders" for this years district convention.. "let us exhalt his name together" page 3. para 4. please bring a lunch rather than leave the convention site to obtain a meal during the noon break.
this will allow all to enjoy upbuilding association and be present from the very start of the session.

GoodBye Veterans Stadium, you smelly convention site!

< Wanted to pop in and say hi, and also to ask if anyone is saddened by "The Vet"'s dimise? I'm not. It was nothing more than a sweltering cesspool in which the JW's had their yearly conventions. (usually in July) God, it was awful. The 1984 convention was the worst.....usually about 25,000 Borg members were in attendance there. I was 5 that summer, and I could barely stand it. This was back when conventions were about a week long, and 8 hours a day at least. Sheer hell on earth. >
I was there for 1985. It was a sauna and a heat torture. One time I just took a bottle of water and just poured it on myself. Each day I looked forward to its ending so I can go back to the motel and run into the pool. People were fainting from the heat. Every so often you'd see stretchers carrying people to first-aid where there was air conditioning. Interestingly in the club house they had closed circuit tv showing the assembly program, very cozy air conditioning, and delivered food or available food and drinks. Visiting WTS bigwigs, the highly connected, and their families enjoyed the convention in comfort while the rank and file sweltered in an open pit stadium. I think one person died in my convention due to heat stroke.
That's when I've noticed at other convensions the VIPs would take their seats in the prime closed areas of the stadiums, coloseums, sports arenas, etc. That was an eyeopener.

Take just as long to reply to their 'invitation'. Then say, "thanks but no thanks".

Highlandyr, that's news to me. They can't DF you as per their public website? Please let me know where that is. I'll keep it as my trump card - just in case. Nice to have something they know but will not let on that that fact is there.
You're correct. I don't want to leave the JWs. Or to be more precise, I don't want the JW rule makers slander me as "unclean" because of their petty self-importance. And cut me off from my family just because I don't want to follow the JW program anymore. If they can content themselves to leaving me alone as I've left them alone, then the watchtower and I will get along just fine. In my humble opinion, I'm a more honest and loving person now than I was a JW.
I've given my heart and soul to this organization and in the end they've torn at it and finally broken it. While I have regrets for being a blind watchtower slave for so long and for believing so much, I blame my own stupidity. I'm moving forward. I'm healing. I'm not about burning bridges. However I'm not looking back. Enough said.
Thanks all!
Wish me luck!

I want to thank ALL OF YOU for the great advices. I see good merit in all of them - from light to moderate. I got somethings to go with and I'll start practicing on things to do, prepare for, and have alternative strategies. I just was lost as to what to do and how to handle this. I think I'll make a street pioneer at a train station a little happy and get some of the latest mags just to be a little fresh on them, just in case.
I really like the parts about lieing to them, acting, and killing them with kindness. They have lied, held back information, and put on acts on me. It will be great to use Theocratic War Strategy back on them. What's the purpose for Theocratic War Strategy anyway? Something about witholding the truth to those who don't deserve it? Or something like that. I think it can work both ways, right?
Little Witch, I think you hit it on the head. The Memorial is coming. But I think it could be the CO too. So it is a combination of both. As I recall the CO comes visiting around Spring and Autumn.
Well, I plan to be kind, non controversial, and very smiley.
If all else fails, I like the broken record routine.
Yes, I thought about being sick and stuff like that but maybe I should get it over with rather than live with the shadow over my head that they make come by when I least expect them. At least with the shepherding call I know when they are coming. But, who, knows? I just may stall them just a couple of times just for fun.
I'm starting to feel better about this.
What do any of you think in my giving them the line that I'm sad and depressed. Would that make them leave me alone as they can't handle physcological issues. Or would that backfire and cause them to be "motherly" and try to visit with me some more?
I like that Fred Hall picture! I needed that joke.
Thanks everyone!
If there are more ideas, keep them coming.

Hi
I guess I've been away too long, the local circuit overseer is coming, or the local circuit overseer has come by already and got on the elders' backs. I got word from a relative that the elders would like to meet with me for a shepherding call. I guess to 'help' me go back to the meetings.
I need adivce on how to blow them off for the year. I don't want to leave the JWs because I don't want to separate from my family and relatives that still go there. If I can't blow them off, then how can I satisfy them for a year so they can write on their report card that they did their thing and that I'm not a troublemaker - which I'm not. I'm more of a drop-out rather than an exit-with-style or exit-with-fireworks kind of guy. I was just sick and tired of all the stuff, lies, and make-believe.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thank you
Rod

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 10-26-03 WT Study

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I think I read in one of Franz' books, I don't remember which one, where somewhere in the WT Society there was an unofficial kind of book where all their beliefs and teachings were cataloged and organized. It was just an internal way of keeping all their teachings straight - or straighter. But I think the story goes that when Knorr found out it that he had it destroyed. Now that the Old Guard are losing their memories and probably too old to do anything, I guess their teachings are best based on whatever the WT officially wrote in the magazines the last time, plus whatever anyone remembers.
Other organized religions have their articles of faith which everyone can read and understand up front. With JWs its all dependant on whatever came out at the last summer convention, or watchtower, whichever came lastest. I believed that it was just "new light". But I was fooled. The Bible is timeless.
Sometimes I think they just like to constantly keep spinning in order to keep their presses going. What other reason could there be???

This is very interesting, Blondie. Good research.
I'm curious about one thing. Why is it that they keep regurgintating (sp?) material from past issues? Doesn't anyone at the Watchtower write original articles anymore? Did something happen to their writing committee?
I'm just wondering.
