Who or What is the Holy Spirit?
by FusionTheism intradition within christianity has long been that any time the phrases holy spirit, holy ghost, or spirit of godare used in the bible (especially in the new testament), it always refers to the mysterious third divine person of the trinity, who is fully god, co-equal to the father and son, yet somehow distinct.. i want to present a simplified alternative view: let the context determine the meaning!.
(one thing to keep in mind is that the meaning of the bible words used for spirit basically is unseen force or invisible presence.).
the holy spirit as the mind and personality of god.

Actually I disagree Lieu, I used to think the same and yes many of older writings in the Bible are a rip off from Sumeria. But if you read the book of the dead and other writings from Egypt you'll see that the ideas of Christianity came from Egypt and this concept of dieing your soul going to heaven after your heart is judged is Egyptian, also living in a paradise called the field of reads is also originally Egyptian. The Sumerians believed in an after life but did not seem to go into the same detail as the Egyptian. I also now believe that the Egyptian culture is older then the Sumerian, this is exactly the opposite of what people have said in the past. I think theirs some rascim in that thought. More modern archeology is also showing that Egypt came before Sumeria and thiers evidence that thier was even older cultures farther south in Africa. This also makes sense if you believe man first came about in Africa like the experts say. -

JW message becoming more and more relevant
by lsw1961 inmans requirements are limited which can be satisfied with a little and tension-free endeavor..
however man attempts not only to collect but also to grab and amass everything to the excess.
somehow he feels that he can be happy only when he has in abundance whereas others have nothingwhich seems to be the thread that runs throughout the history.

The DNA genome project was completed about 2004, it proved we came from a species the same as apes. The jw message is no longer relevant. -

Religion spoils the real truth? What are your thoughts.
by punkofnice ini can see how science is answering our questions.
okay, that's a sweeping statement, but it's the best way my empty head can express it.
i'm not sure if we're evolving as a species...that's another subject i admit to not reading about.

Most of Christianity is a rip off of the older Egyptian beliefs, they invented the idea of a spirit, so I'm thinking holy spirit is one of their gods related to this idea. -

My first post
by thewalker inhi, i just joined the board and wanted to present myself.. i'm active, in fact very active in congregation activities serving "where the need is great" in a foreign language congregation somewhere in western europe.
as a young brother, i'm seen as an example as i'm doing all a good witness should do.. i had doubts years ago but i decided just to ignore them and move to another congregation to preach more.
that worked for some years but i'm now at the exact same point.

Welcome, I suggest you pick a topic or teaching by the wt and search on this forum a discussion about it. See if what the wt teaches stands up to the scrutiny. -

you are invited to visit the equipment trailers to acquire items being liquidated by the rbc asset team, these items will be offered on a first come bases with voluntary donation.
if you see any item you like please be in position to take it with you at that time, after you return to your congregation then you will make a donation of cash or check in the congregation contribution box designated for the support of the worldwide work.

The fact that their selling the tools makes it obvious to me that they do not plan on doing much building and if they do it will be small scale and by outside contractors. With a net increase of 20k new members there's no reason to build anytime soon. -

Going along with girlnextdoor there are e two older flood stories the one she listed and that of Atrahasis both written way before the Hebrews wrote their story. The Noah story is almost a complete rip off with only minor changes. Names of the characters and that it was a global flood instead of a more local one. Even the lineage of Adam through to Noah is just a language change. The names are different from the Sumerian kings list but the translation or meaning of each name is the same.
Just about everything in the book of Genesis is a rip off of older Sumerian writings.
