  the name ba'al (), apparently as an equivalent for yhwh, occurs as an element in a number of compound proper names, such as jerubbaal, ishbaal, meribaal, etc.

  Some speculate this based on a found translation of Duet 32:8. But one problem with this idea is Yahweh is described just like El. But there is some evidence that the God Elyon was a God above the God El and not El himself. Anyway it's hard to tell for sure since every city or community may have their Pantheon of Gods be just a bit different then another community. Another problem is names could altogether change, Baal had different names, and at times one can't tell if they we're refuring to the same God. Another thought is that yhwh wasn't actually refuring to one God but a family of gods. El,Ashurah, Baal,Anat for example.

  One other thought I have had recently is about the goddess Anat. She is never mentioned in the Bible but almost all the other top gods of the Canaanites are. She is a war God, so I'm wondering if maybe Yahweh isnt some form of her. Her name is mentioned in a Jewish stronghold in Egypt in a letter as Anat-Yahu. Just a thought but we find this kind of thing in Egypt where a God is an aspect of another God. Amen become one with Ra so does Atum and a couple of other Egyptian gods.

  reports that if the greenland ice sheet melts and the western sheet of antarctica do the same then the oceans will rise in a generation by as many as( 8 is mentioned) metres.

  now what is the above sea level height of the ny wt buildings?

  or the new palace they are building elsewhere in ny.. food for thought?

  "Freeness of speech"

  this was posted on another thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6040010839031808/christmas-tree-word-appreciation), but wondered about how others here would see this with one experience i had as an elder now as ex-jws.. when we were jw's we had to be extremely careful with what we said around the brotherhood.

  if someone said anything out of the ordinary, relationships among the involved were halted immediately, or were never the same afterwards.

  in this place, one can say almost anything without the fear of having a truck run over us.

  There are Scriptures describing Yahweh as having the same characteristics as Baal as well as El. They worshipped El as the high Creator God first then switched to primarily worshipping Baal because he was the fertility - rain God. Remember the word lord is a translation from the original word Baal. Re-read the Bible and every time you see the word lord change it to Baal and every time you see the word son switch it to Sun and you'll have a much more accurate rendering of the Scriptures. Do the same with the word God and make it gods, there you go the Bible as it was ment to be read.

  Wooly Mammoths

  a jw came to my door a while back and used wooly mammoths as evidence for noah's flood.

  he was a bit older, so i thought this must be some oddball out-of-date teaching of jehovah's witnesses.

  i could remember something in the insight book about frozen mammoths, but not much else.

  Panda's live in a cool climate I also believe great apes live in a cooler climate in Africa. I can't think of a woolly animal living in a topical climate, can you.

  If a year is really 365 1/4 days why 360 days to calculate 1914

  I pionted this out to a couple of elders in my hall and boy one of them started getting up set and yelling at me. When I braught out all the mistakes and times the Borg had made towards end times the other one said God did this as a carrat to get people to follow. Face palm. I later was able to get myself out of the mess by stating that in the book of revelations the word year was mentioned with no reguard to what kind of year. I just used this to get myself out of trouble. Lets say I used the same kind of reasoning the Borg uses.

  I have done exactly as they have stated removed Canaanite thinking from my life. I know longer support human sacrifice and no longer worship the Canaanite God El as my supreme God.

  Great work, by the way what do you think killed so many of these animals off? A sudden drop in temperature, if so caused by what since these animals seemed adapted already to ice age type of conditions.

  By the way the water canopy idea comes straight from Babylon yet they reject the older stories of the flood also from Babylon and Sumeria.
