Lots of people quit with out being hounded, if asked many say thier scared of large crowds of people etc. I think if you don't say any thing they'll leave you alone, because what can they do? Only those that admit stuff while meeting with the elders run the chance at being dfd.

New way to fade?
by dothemath ina brother in a local congregation has successfully faded, no announcements or judicial hearings that anyone has heard of.. his immediate family are all out, but they have lots of family still in.. if he had joined another religion, or the army, or put up christmas lights, likely the elders would be hounding them like crazy.. but no, he has accepted evolution(it seems to be common knowledge).. i would have thought this would be a disfellowshipping offense, but lots of time has passed, and they just leave them all alone..

$10 per pub. Money begging session last night
by StarTrekAngel inlast night, during our "christian life and ministry" meeting, we had a session on local needs.
elder opened the talk with a disclaimer saying that this was a reminder (cited psalms about how david loved jehovahs reminders).
he reminded us of how bless we are of having our own local assembly hall.

Books I read when I deprogrammed
by OrphanCrow inblondie suggested someone start a thread with a list of books that are valuable to read when exiting the jws.. i will start.. i left the jws way back in the early 70s and didn't actually deprogram until into the 80s.. one of the first books i read was "the orwellian world of jehovah's witnesses" by gary and heather botting.
canadian exjws from calagary.
an excellent book and one that still resonates with young people today.

Some thoughts on the new midweek meeting

here are my thoughts on how it is going so far:.
1) elders are looking frazzled from being on virtually every meeting and having to prepare unfamiliar formats for items.

If you look at history the Phoenicians we're in to child sacrifice and would kill a child to try to stave off a drought or being attacked by an enemy etc. The king would even kill his first born son. The whole ransom sacrifice of Jesus probably goes back to this. -

Yep God kills people to make himself feel important, he even muders his own son and not just a quick fast death but a slow tortuous evil death all because a newly created woman eats a piece of fruit. just giving you fair warning as your time may be better spent somewhere else.. so, i'm sitting on my lunch break, bawling my eyes out, and writing on this forum to people i don't know yet probably have a great deal in common with but at the same time, used to scare the daylights out of me.

A conversation with my dad
by magotan ini talked to my dad today, after i text him when i was angry after a night out.
i'm starting to get closure on my parents relationship with regards to me.the dynamic between them versus me is abusive.
my dad didn't think i had any reason to be bitter.he said i chose to leave "jehovahs people" and this is what i should expect as treatment.

I like to bring up Jesus in these type of conversations, he said all that believe in me have life as a gift. He said any who give or do any acts of kindness to his followers would be remembered and considered his brother, he said not to shun and that doing so makes one like a tax collector and he said to forgive 70x7. Then I would ask, since the JWs either don't believe in these comments or don't apply them or do what Jesus said then how can they be gods organization because God said this is my son my beloved listen to him. They do not listen!
