It's your life and you have to live it! Do your research study the Bible and see if it's really the word of god.study science and everything else. In the end the choices you make are going to be with you the rest of your life. Most JW piss away the dreams desires and hopes to be a good JW. Then die broke and destitute forgotten by the congregation when thier to old or sick to go to the meetings.

Was looking at my childhood book "From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained" I found something interesting.
by Still Totally ADD ini was showing a friend of mine what kind of books my parents allowed me to read when i was very young.
no children books that was age related but the so called orange paradise book was my only children book i had.
she was taken back on how violent it was and showing little kids being killed by god was just unspeakable.

Does anyone here want to be saved or have the urge to worship?
by Half banana ini don’t know about any of you but does anyone else share my lack of impulse to worship anything?.
i became a jw when still at school and had been puzzled at the time by the posters outside of evangelical churches telling me to repent and come to jesus and be saved.. for me it was an irrelevance, i never felt like being saved...what from?
i was happy as an exploring type of child, i never knew of anything wanting to be worshipped and i didn’t need to worship anything either..

I always thought having integrity was the mark of a true christian standing up for what is right even under persecution. After waking up and dealing with the elders I soon realized most religions are all about following a leader.

Any atheists here? Have you come to terms with your new reality?
by kpop inalone, without my safety net of "god" being there to remember me when i die.
after much consideration, examining science, history and using logic, i have come to the conclusion that there is no "god" at least certainly no loving, personal "god.
" shortly before my final conclusion was reached, i read an excerpt from an expression attributed to marcus aurelius, .

It takes awhile and in my case I had to study and research and become convinced that the Bible is just a book and so are the other holy books around the world. I'm with Marcus!

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

Any ideas on why the wt would not file the brief on time?

The Danger of Settlements
by Tech49 ini was pondering the recent influx of lawsuits against wt, specifically in regards to the child abuse cases (ie.
conti, fessler, lopez, etc).. in each of these, wt has settled for an "undisclosed" amount, assumed to be in the millions of dollars each.
i know there are many many more cases, subject for a different thread i'm sure.. i was reading something completely unrelated a while back that mentioned the dangers of settlement agreements for a large corporation or business (not just wt).

The fact is the guys at the top are arrogant narcissistic scum. They think thier shit don't stink and would not even gone down the settlement road until some of thier attorneys told them they should at least do this to keep the reputation clean.

What not to say...
by joey jojo inhey guys.
i was recently talking to a old friend who is a very active elder.
i was talking about ' the truth' and he suggested i sounded like an apostate because i used terms like ' the society' and ' watchtower '.. i am aware that ' dubspeak ' has changed over the years and i am pretty sure that someone posted about it here but i can't find the thread.

Sample Disassociation Letter please?
by LifesNotOver ini want to send a disassociation letter to the elders at my old congregation.
how do i address it and what wording do i use?
i know it's not something i have to do, it's symbolic for me.
-
Crazyguy
Just send them two scriptures , Luke 21:8 and Duteronomy 32: what ever verse talks about being a false prophet. Then keep it short and sweet don't mention your dissociation until the end and keep it vague so they have to read the whole letter. I would also touch on the child molestation coverups and say how gods one and true religion wouldn't treat victims this way!

Observations from an Ex-Elder Part 1
by doubtfull1799 ini was thinking about the fog model this morning, particularly about the "obligation" part.
my mind went back to the last elders school i went to.
one of the parts in the section on appointments was discussing how we should not place too high a bar (human standards) for brothers to try and jump over when we are considering them for appointment as a ministerial servant.

So true it's not about helping people in to the Truff but the hours. 1 bible study is great but ten useless hours is better.

It will be funny when asked by the commission to the JWs " So what have you done , what changes have you made to protect your children in your congregations?" Then the Wt will respond " well um , um well , ah well we uhm , we umm , well ok umm, can you repeat the question?
