Feeling the Guilt
by Saethydd ini'm currently disfellowshipped and living at home with my parents, but because they are both still devout jws i have to keep going to the meetings and crap because i don't want to risk getting thrown out until i finish college or find a job that will let me support myself and go to college.. yesterday, my mother rode with me to the meeting and told me how much my best friend and my oldest sister are missing me, and it just tears me apart because during the meeting i was practically counting the minutes till it was over.
it didn't help matters that i had to sit with my family because the library was closed off, thus forcing me to follow along with the meeting on my tablet instead of reading something useful or interesting like i normally do.. when i got home i just cried out in frustration because it feels like no matter what i do, i am making the wrong choice.
either i have to keep pretending to support an organization that has caused so much pain to so many people, or i have to abandon my family and friends to it so i can save myself.

River flowing from the garden of Eden
by joey jojo inhey there.. if this point has been covered before please forgive me.. i have had the principles of noahs flood used by jw's to encourage me to attend meetings recently and this has got me musing about the flood....again.. genesis states that a river flowed from eden and branched out into four rivers, two of which being the tigris and the euphrates.. heres the baffling part; if it had never rained before, how is it that rivers existed before the flood?!!?.
a brief google search tells us that the euphrates begins its journey as snow melt and rain ( as most rivers do) in mountains in turkey.. ecc chapter 1 mentions the water cycle and describes the rivers flowing into the sea but the sea not becoming full.
how did it work pre-flood?

so according to the nt jesus makes alive those that die in adam.. given the overwhelming evidence that adam as a man did not exist jws lose the battle on this verse.. however foolish christians like pentecostals and catholics like to call adam figurative.. okay... read it again^^^^^^... .

Sorry cold steel but the jesus story was a myth. Another part of the story that shows this is when he died it was said that a bunch of patriarchs and others were resurrected and then ran around Jerusalem. So a bunch of people rose out of the graveyards of Jerusalem (which is a huge event) yet it not mentioned by anyone beyond the Bible. Just like the resurrection of Jesus only mentioned in religious texts .
Jesus was a retelling of the Osiris myth and they used the god Serapis as thier templet for this new god they called Jesus.

Another family needlessly torn apart
by Visitor1984 ini'm feeling very angry tonight as i watched my mother in law end her relationship with my husband, her son, tonight.
we were happily inactive, enjoying a distant but decent relationship with my in laws until they saw some christmas decorations and everything changed.
i spent two hours getting drilled on whether my husband and i celebrate holidays, to be told that my laws won't socialize with us anymore.

Send her the awake article on piñata s and how it's ok for Mexican JWs even though it was used to celebrate the birth day of the Aztec sun god . Then mention Romans chapter 14 which says it up to the person. Also Colossians chapter 2 also says holidays are ok. Also you could mention Jobs children celebrating thier special day. Call her and her religion for what they are hypocrites!!!

Very good point no snow no melt no river. I did a lot of research on the garden of eden and found that the original stories were about a place called Deliun. My spelling maybe incorrect but anyway this garden was actually area near Kuwait near the end of the rivers not the beginning.

What is the basis for advising “Don’t pursue higher studies”?
by venus intwo elders who visited my friend last week encouraged her not to pursue higher studies.
it seems they are dishing out the same old stuff: “the end is imminent, and this is the time to do more in the service; hence don’t waste your resources on higher studies.”.
i wonder whether there was some official communiqué (something that is sent out recently like letter to the elders, or kingdom ministry article …).

It's sad to see so many so poor. I have a friend that does auto mechanical work and has several sisters and even a brother or two need work done on thier cars and couldn't pay for it. Thier desperate but put a good face at the meetings so most don't know.
My father, father in law and mother in law who was divorced from her husband all died destitute. Two didn't even have a home and relied on others for housing.

by NikL inso today's study article uses 1cor 3:17 as it's theme text.. i looked it over and if you read from 14 an interesting thing happens.... 14 but their minds were dulled.+ for to this present day, the same veil remains unlifted when the old covenant is read,+ because it is taken away only by means of christ.+ 15 in fact, to this day whenever moses is read,+ a veil lies upon their hearts.+ 16 but when one turns to jehovah,* the veil is taken away.+ 17 now jehovah* is the spirit,+ and where the spirit of jehovah* is, there is freedom.+ .
so my question is, is it by "means of christ" or by "turning to jehovah" that the veil is taken away?.
in any other translation i've looked at, the use of the word lord is employed leading one to assume that it's turning to the christ that takes the veil away..

You said the OT has been debunked well so has the NT. Most of NT Christianity was stolen from the ancient religion of Egypt. Christ was a retelling of Osiris and Horus with some Greek god stories and even some Babylonian thrown in. So this made up character is saying some thing about another made up character, hey it works.
