  Are JWs the worst restaurant customers?

  (a little background info before i ask my question...).

  my sister-in-law (non-jw), who manages a popular chain restaurant near a kingdom hall, just found out that my wife and i have recently faded, so she decided to get something off her chest the other day... you guessed it: she wanted us to know that jws are the worst customers ever!

  she then told us some really embarrassing stories about how jws would request a table for 15 to 20 people (after a sunday meeting) and then (when the bill came) some of the jws would start deliberating amongst themselves on whether or not the waiter was diligent or not (to justify the low tip he was getting anyway).

  When I was in my early 20s and being very social I remember how so many of the young JWs were kinda out of place when going out to a restaurant, not knowing what to order and how to deal with the bill once in came as one check etc. It's as if they hadn't gone out to eat much at all growing up with their parents. I would usually handle the check take the money and kick in extra to make sure the tip amount was correct.

  I remember one time going to a Chinese restaurant where it was the norm for each person order a dish and everyone share all the dishes ordered by putting some of each on your plate. All the JWs there ordered only one dish, sweet and sour chicken. It was just stupid funny.

  both sides presented their arguments and now the judges will write an opinion (30 to 90 days).

  One would think the judges wouldn't even let them play the we don't have control of this corporation game. They must know that having mutipule corporations and shell companies are just for hiding things. If the legal system lets them get away with this then their telling the world their impotent

  A day for a lunar or solar etc year

  about 10 years ago there was a brilliant piece by a legend on this board - may have been farkel.

  it was where he showed how ludicrous it was to flit between solar days lunar months a solar day for a 360 day year but those years are 365 to come up with 1914. i have tried searching but struggled.

  does anyone remember it and if so can you point to it with a link please?

  I remember figuring up the dates both lunar and solar to see if there was anyway their 607 1914 bullshit worked. Another thing to consider is how they come up with Jesus memorial. Really the son of god is killed crucified by the Jewish leadership and the Romans and no one records a date?!

  Found the talk thanks to wifi bandit. It seems that what was really being said is that if you are part of gods organization then your now living in spiritual paradise. I remember when I was still in how much of a paradises it really was, puke !

  I wish I knew where during the annual meeting this was said because it shows how delusional they are. I would play it for my wife to show her how their just making crap up. This statement if said is really huge and we should try to find out if it was really said!!

  With phrases like this and others I've heard over the last couple of years it's kinda making me think they'll use a phrase like this as they shut up shop and wave good by. Maybe even claiming their being called home. So they sneak out the back door.

  I read somewhere that Russell said it about his movie he put out and that around the same time or after someone in Bethel was putting out a course that one could buy to make you a expert Bible peddler . The idea was to go out peddle the troof and get paid to do it by the people you teach , selling them WT books etc. The troof at some point was really a door to door sales job and being an expert in this was equivalent to having a college education.

  Did Jesus pre exist? Yes or no?

  when i first became a witness, i always found the teaching about jesus being the arch angel michael hard to swallow.

  i did however believe that jesus pre existed as a master worker alongside god (the first of his creation).. but now everything is brought into question having watched anthony buzzard explain why jesus could not have pre existed as it is impossible to pre exist yourself.

  also the fact that it all sounds contradictory to suggest, he was already alive millions of years before he was transferred to mary's womb to be born as a human - the son of man?.

  The Ptolemy 's created a god (Serapis) so they could try to united their empire under one religion.

  The Romans did it years later using the same God but adding some traits from other popular gods . Then took it farther by outlawing all other religions.
