The Creation of Genesis Chapter 2ff

i had long held the piece of the jigsaw puzzle which starts at genesis 2:4b – the yahwist’s creation story.

i knew that its authors had never heard of lamarck’s theory of evolution, nor had they read darwin’s “origin of species”.

the authors were addressing their own immediate culture, so i had to transport my mind to their times.

I’m under the idea that the Old Testament was heavily influenced by the Greeks maybe even writen by them. I read somewhere that even though the Greeks had their female god and in some cases the female was looked at as an equal in other parts the female was not so respected. Despite the lack of a female adoration in the Bible theres still proverbs chapter 4 which likens wisdom as female. One of the attributes of Ashurah was wisdom.

Also some of the character in the Bible people have thought were in fact a tale about a god. Could it be that some of the female characters in the Bible were a story about Ashurah?

hi i've been a jw for 12 years and got married 2 years ago.

I would move on with your life get remarried if that’s what you want and live your life to it’s fullest. You only live once, don’t waste it.

As far as religious beliefs are concerned the Bible has been changed over the centuries to fit the ideas of the church leaders. Many of the things in the Bible today were not there 500 years ago. If you want to check one as an example go to Revelations 5:9-10 in your Greek interlinear. In the original Greek you’ll find that they are not mentioned as kings and do not reign over the earth but on it as priest.

Then ask yourself if Jesus would really want you to destroy your life and future because of a liar? Is that loving ?

Lett woke me up when at a DC he said he was considered an apostate back in the early 70’s while at bethel. He said he was one of the few there that didn’t think that Armageddon would hit in 1975. What ? Wait we were told back then that only a few rogue elders cos or dos thought this and it wasn’t from bethel. What your saying now Lett is the exact opposite. Hmmm , I think I’ll do some research.

Whole families leaving the Org has increased

i have noticed in the uk a few families i used to know while in the borg have exited together.

some include former elders and ministerial servants.

i observed on social media pages that the kids have 'worldly' boyfriends and girlfriends and they look so much happier than they did in the org.

I think it’s important to note that Rutherford wasn’t persecuted by religions for calling religion a snare and a racket. He was thrown in to prison for sedition for encouraging men not to join the war effort as noted in his book The Finish Mystery.

Jwdeepthinker , I think you’ve been ready someone’s work that’s jumping over hoops to make his ideas work. First off there’s no record of any Darius the Mede. The book of Daniel is the only mention of this guy and it’s a 2 nd century BC writting where the writer doesn’t know his history. Darius was a Persian and the writer even mentions his lineage but he even gets that wrong. Darius the Persian comes later in history.

Another thing to mention is the Bible said Tyre would never be rebuilt yet it was no only still around for Alexander the Great to destroy it but after he allowed it to be rebuilt.

What's destroying Watchtower!

for me, beyond any shadow of a doubt, it's the extreme shunning policy.. at a recent sunday meeting, i listened to a complete brainwashed sister saying how important it was that we stick to the shunning policy even if it is a close relative.. i just thought.

wtf.

there is a big difference between the brainwashed and the awoken class!.

One other thing I think is reality. I mean the real world. People were really financially beat up back in 2008 on and the JWs got it as bad as anyone else if not worse. It’s got to be hard to keep believing your in gods only organization and he cares for you when your financial world comes crashing down and there’s no help from the big guys in the sky. I think many have left do to this.

Jesus Is A Myth

Saename, the myth maybe that Inanna clothes were removed as she passed into the underworld as well as other parts to the story may not be exactly like that of Jesus story.

Osiris was originally killed by his brother and cut up into pieces and then he went to the underworld. His story morphed over time to be resurrected in three days and not only became the god of the under world and judgment but also in heaven as the constellation of Orion. People would go to his temple and eat grain and drink beer . Not exactly the same as Jesus meal where they ate bread and drank wine but you see my point.

Later in the Dyonisus story they do drink wine and he is shown being crucified on a cross.

These stories all have to do with the dying and resurrecting gods of fertility and the growing season. By the time the jesus story was told it had changed again and again and again . But in almost every story the god is killed and then resurrected near or on the time of the spring Equinox. Even the Inanna story changed to do time and Geographical location. These stories also took on the elements of Astro theology and evolved because of this as well.
