Jewish God Yahweh Originated in Canaanite Vulcan, Says New Theory
by greek inthe cult of yhwh as god of metallurgy originated among semi-nomadic copper smelters between the bronze and iron age, suggests biblical scholar: and he was not worshipped only by jews.. https://www.haaretz.com/archaeology/.premium.magazine-jewish-god-yahweh-originated-in-canaanite-vulcan-says-new-theory-1.5992072.
according to amzallag, long before becoming the deity of the israelites, yahweh was a god of metallurgy in the ancient canaanite pantheon, worshipped by smelters and metalworkers throughout the levant, not just by the hebrews.
where did the yhwh cult originate?

El was clearly the top god of the Canaanites and is most likely the god introduced to Abraham by Melkizadek or who ever that guy is in the Bible story. The writings of that deity found at Ugarit show so many similarities. Later writings about the god Yhw show similarities as well as having the same consorts as El and later the god Baal Hadad. Other scriptures in the Bible show Baal taking over for El and absorbing his atributes.
Yes it can be said that there is a time that the Jews were told not to worship Baal but is this just propaganda introduced later or another Baal altogether since there was many local Baals in the area. Could it be Ywh was just another Baal that rose to the level of EL and Hadad and then became Yahweh? One other thing to consider the words lord and Adonia both mean Baal.
So could it be possible that the Jews were infact worshipping EL then Baal as well as other gods such as Ashurah, In the Canaanite pantheon all along until a later time when they were forced to worship another deity? I for one think so.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses always answer questions through the bible?
by MarieChii inhi.. recently i've been researching jehovah's witnesses and their beliefs and found out that they don't believe in blood transfusions.
so, i've asked one of my friends who is a jw as to what is the reason for this, and so far, they had always directed me to a bible verse that is in their bible.. clearly, i wasn't getting anywhere and so far, it's pretty much frustrating to even make my friend give me reasonable reason.
when i was getting somewhere, even a smidgen, they would answer with a question.

You have to keep asking questions that they can’t answer, for example about the blood transfusion topic you may ask about how jesus said in Mathew chapter 12 when taking about the sabbath and or helping people he said “we desire mercy not sacrifice “ you may ask how does this not apply to the blood doctrine?
Also mathew 15 he says “nothing entering into a man can defile him “, so again ask how does this not apply to blood?
Another thought is in Leviticus chapter 17 theres a scripture about how it’s ok to eat an animal found already dead and you would only be unclean until evening. An animal already dead it’s blood can not effectively be drained well , there would still be much blood left in the meat and organs. Anyway asking these questions you can only hope that a light bulb comes on in the mind of the one your talking to and they start to think.
It may take years of these little events before the person truly wakes up.

Need blood? Save your life, here's why.
by LevelThePlayingField inso here's the point regarding blood transfusions.
notice jesus asks the pharisees if it was lawful on the sabbath to save a life.
so, can you break god's law to save your life if it came to that?

Crazyguy
To add to your argument jesus also said at Mathew 12 we desire mercy not sacrifice and at Mathew 15 nothing entering into a man can defile him. Last but not least in chapter 17 of Leviticus towards the end of the chapter it says it’s ok to eat an animal found dead or even sell it to the nations and if you did eat it you would only be unclean until evening.
An animal found dead would still have blood in it so it wasn’t unlawful to eat blood. The whole idea of this chapter was to say that life is precious and if you take an animals life pour out it’s blood out of respect for the animal you killed.

New data movement this is what I see as their goals .
by Crazyguy inafter listening to the leaked videos this is what i think it’s all about.
first i don’t believe they will want to much personal information ie bank accounts etc do to potential legal problems down the road.
what i think is their goal is once all publishers are in the data base they then have no need for written information about any issue concerning a publisher and how issues are handled by elders and the branch etc... this information now is in their own data base and can be deleted or manipulated by them at any time.

I would have to disagree with you Dreary, your basically saying that 2/3 of all publishers in the USA including kids have at one time been pioneers, elders, MS, or gone to Bethel this would be way to high.

What i think is their goal is once all publishers are in the data base they then have no need for written information about any issue concerning a publisher and how issues are handled by elders and the branch etc... This information now is in their own data base and can be deleted or manipulated by them at any time. Records about an elder child molester that’s moved from one congregation to another and the branch knows about it , this information if it is demanded by the courts can then mysteriously disappear.
The second main reason for this data collection is to keep tract of publishers and thier movements. If a publisher moves to another congregation so as to fade, the data can be moved to the jurisdiction of the new elder body of the territory. They will be informed of the new publisher and if this publisher doesn’t come to meetings or is not attending enough, measures can be taken to sensor or disfellowship the publisher so he or she can not potentially become a problem for the other members, possibly waking someone up.
Whats interesting, is in the video the speaker mentions the published number in the US of total publishers and then goes on to mention that out of the 1.2 million publishers only about 750,000 are in their current system. He acts as though these missing ones are just not in the system yet but I suspect these ones don’t exist. That’s over 400,000 less publishers just in the USA. I’m not sure of the percentage but imagine if we take that percentage and apply it to their worldwide published numbers maybe we can get a more accurate picture of how many actual members are still left in this cult.
Ps. If my math is correct the missing publishers equals 33% of the total population of publishers in the US.

The right to record your judicial committee meeting
by UnshackleTheChains inok.. we have often heard secret recordings online of jc hearings.
but, what i would like to know is if individuals are entitled to the right of officially recording their judicial hearings?.
supposing i was to attend a judicial committee and i explained up front that i would like to record the proceedings and then place a dictaphone on the table.

Crazyguy
At my JC they asked about recording it and I said no I wasn’t, they even aloud me to keep my phone because the main elder knew I had a Bible app on it and used it when looking up scriptures. Worked out great , got off with just a public reproof, . Nothing was juicy enough to keep the recording so i erased it. but yea the whole thing is rigged in their favor the only chance you have is if some of the elders were friends or liked you.

Are you better off as a worldly person or a JW?
by Jules Saturn ini was having a conversation with a relative who has been inactive for several decades (part of the ‘75 generation) and he argued that a person that is a born in is better off staying in the organization rather than someone like him who lived as a “worldly” person but then became a witness later in life.
he argues that when you’re born in, all you know nothing outside of the organization, so you’re better off in than out, that’s why when born ins leave the org, they always come back.
i agree that as a born in, your social circle is composed of witnesses but i do feel that even born ins would be happier outside of the org than being in.

JWs do not live in a world or reality. Because of this the descisions they make are not always best for them and their families they live in a fog.
I noticed after I woke up how Raw the world felt around me. No one there to protect me or help me. We are surrounded by life and death all day long and it’s up to just us to make it, to support ourselves to protect ourselves. JWs don’t get it!

Two virgin births in the Bible, who knew?
by Crazyguy inin the famous verse from mathew chapter 1 verse 23 i believe the writer proclaims that mary a virgin was going to give birth to a son he would be called emmanuel.
he even stated this was to fulfill a prophecy.
thats prophecy is in isaiah chapter 7:14. .

James your missing the point , the prophecy was about another Emmanuel not Jesus at all.
