  Is the Watchtower organisation facing the biggest crisis of its history?

  recent developments make me think they might be.

  the problems they are facing are not just lack of funds but also draining authority, and the two could be a heady and explosive mix.

  one of the best analyses ever written of the watchtower was a book called "trumpet of prophecy" by sociologist james beckford in the 1970s.

  I don't think it's about money it's people. They baptised around 260k last year. These aren't new ones just mostly kids changing their status from publisher, but the Org lost 140k in the same time. People leaving dieing or being dfd. Most of these the Orgs not getting back. I believe the Org will continue to loose 150k + each year this is going to kill off the religion slowly but it will. They are trying to make changes so less will leave but they have also stopped trying in 3 world countries so in the end the numbers will get worse.

  i am at work talking to a current jdub and i am making progress (i think) with her and right now the theme is education.

  she says that the wt no longer looks down on education and is claiming that the wt no longer says we are close to the end!

  I think the key is teaching your children. If I had it to do over again I would of not left. I would of instead had a family study with my kids and showed them the proper way of being a Christian so to speak even though I'm an agnostic. Then with that go over the history of the cult so they would know about all the crap, hoping in the end it would help to wake them up. Now that I'm out I'm not sure they'll listen to me much.

  to me it is just amazing how much it parallels jws well any religion that people abuse..

  the disdain which the wtbts / gbojw has for higher education is well known among jw's and jw dissenters.

  the specious rationale for such disdain is also well known.

  however, it is a fact that there is no scriptural authority for..... a) prohibiting education at any level for another person.
