  hey there.. if this point has been covered before please forgive me.. i have had the principles of noahs flood used by jw's to encourage me to attend meetings recently and this has got me musing about the flood....again.. genesis states that a river flowed from eden and branched out into four rivers, two of which being the tigris and the euphrates.. heres the baffling part; if it had never rained before, how is it that rivers existed before the flood?!!?.

  a brief google search tells us that the euphrates begins its journey as snow melt and rain ( as most rivers do) in mountains in turkey.. ecc chapter 1 mentions the water cycle and describes the rivers flowing into the sea but the sea not becoming full.

  how did it work pre-flood?

  On another note 800,000 years of ice core samples from Antarctica would indicate that the Bibles completely wrong on this subject.

  15: 21,22 rnwt: for since death came through a man,+ resurrection of the dead also comes through a man.+ 22 for just as in adam all are dying,+ so also in the christ all will be made alive.. .

  so according to the nt jesus makes alive those that die in adam.. given the overwhelming evidence that adam as a man did not exist jws lose the battle on this verse.. however foolish christians like pentecostals and catholics like to call adam figurative.. okay... read it again^^^^^^... .

  Sorry cold steel but the jesus story was a myth. Another part of the story that shows this is when he died it was said that a bunch of patriarchs and others were resurrected and then ran around Jerusalem. So a bunch of people rose out of the graveyards of Jerusalem (which is a huge event) yet it not mentioned by anyone beyond the Bible. Just like the resurrection of Jesus only mentioned in religious texts .

  Jesus was a retelling of the Osiris myth and they used the god Serapis as thier templet for this new god they called Jesus.

  Another family needlessly torn apart

  i'm feeling very angry tonight as i watched my mother in law end her relationship with my husband, her son, tonight.

  we were happily inactive, enjoying a distant but decent relationship with my in laws until they saw some christmas decorations and everything changed.

  i spent two hours getting drilled on whether my husband and i celebrate holidays, to be told that my laws won't socialize with us anymore.

  Send her the awake article on piñata s and how it's ok for Mexican JWs even though it was used to celebrate the birth day of the Aztec sun god . Then mention Romans chapter 14 which says it up to the person. Also Colossians chapter 2 also says holidays are ok. Also you could mention Jobs children celebrating thier special day. Call her and her religion for what they are hypocrites!!!

  Very good point no snow no melt no river. I did a lot of research on the garden of eden and found that the original stories were about a place called Deliun. My spelling maybe incorrect but anyway this garden was actually area near Kuwait near the end of the rivers not the beginning.

  What is the basis for advising “Don’t pursue higher studies”?

  two elders who visited my friend last week encouraged her not to pursue higher studies.

  it seems they are dishing out the same old stuff: “the end is imminent, and this is the time to do more in the service; hence don’t waste your resources on higher studies.”.

  i wonder whether there was some official communiqué (something that is sent out recently like letter to the elders, or kingdom ministry article …).

  It's sad to see so many so poor. I have a friend that does auto mechanical work and has several sisters and even a brother or two need work done on thier cars and couldn't pay for it. Thier desperate but put a good face at the meetings so most don't know.

  My father, father in law and mother in law who was divorced from her husband all died destitute. Two didn't even have a home and relied on others for housing.

  so today's study article uses 1cor 3:17 as it's theme text.. i looked it over and if you read from 14 an interesting thing happens.... 14 but their minds were dulled.+ for to this present day, the same veil remains unlifted when the old covenant is read,+ because it is taken away only by means of christ.+ 15 in fact, to this day whenever moses is read,+ a veil lies upon their hearts.+ 16 but when one turns to jehovah,* the veil is taken away.+ 17 now jehovah* is the spirit,+ and where the spirit of jehovah* is, there is freedom.+ .

  so my question is, is it by "means of christ" or by "turning to jehovah" that the veil is taken away?.

  in any other translation i've looked at, the use of the word lord is employed leading one to assume that it's turning to the christ that takes the veil away..

  They keep inserting the name jehovah all over the place in the NT. Funny thing is like in this case it makes it look as though Jesus and Jehovah are the same person. Idiots!!

  You said the OT has been debunked well so has the NT. Most of NT Christianity was stolen from the ancient religion of Egypt. Christ was a retelling of Osiris and Horus with some Greek god stories and even some Babylonian thrown in. So this made up character is saying some thing about another made up character, hey it works.

  Finished Mystery (1917)... The book that Jesus approved...

  so a few months ago, a friend sent me an actual copy of finished mystery which was published in 1917 (not a pdf download... the actual book).

  i must say, this was the most disturbing book i have ever had the displeasure of reading.

  but i only read it because this was the main publication that was being distributed worldwide when jesus supposedly chose the watchtower in 1918 and i basically wanted to see for myself what jesus saw in the wt that would compel him to choose this religious corporation over all other religious denominations.. anyway, if anyone is interested in knowing the actual contents of this book, here are some bullet points i put together from some of the notes i took as i read the book:.
