  in exodus 20:3-5 god is depicted as saying: “you should have no other gods” and worshipping them would bring ‘punishment for three to four generation’ and worshipping me would bring blessings for “a thousand generations.”.

  the sentiments behind this command is same as the one that was displayed by othello who punished his wife desdemona all because of a handkerchief (given to her by othello on their honeymoon) that was happened to be found with someone else.. if it were the real god, he would have said something like this: “you are my children, and you should not worship me.

  i can understand the clergyman being so baptist that he'd still use the name jehovah since it was popular in english and german churches for a long time during and after the reformation, but 607?.

  The Millerites got thier ideas and so did Russell from John Aquila Brown s book The Even Tide.

  Maybe john wrote that Jerusalem was destroyed in 606 or 607. Bottom line Nebuchadnezzar didn’t even take over from his father until 605. Houston we have a problem.

  i had a deep conversation with my elder father today about the bible.

  first i talked to him about luke 16:19-31. the one where jesus makes this crazy illustration regarding the afterlife.

  of course he had to look it up on the watchtower library to be spoon fed his beliefs.

  They really don’t, got into an argument with and elder over jesus not being his mediator. About two weeks later he came around and apologized as I was right but yeah their better at spouting off scriptures for certain biblical doctrines they believe in over the average publishers but that’s about it.

  They also don’t want to deal with thinking people as they kept pushing me off and then told me to go talk to a pioneering brother at the nieghboring congregation he new his shit. After taking with him a time or two I realized he just walked around with copies of subjects printed right out of the insight books.

  "Demons" Living In My Brothers Gym Equipment

  spoke to my younger brother dan yesterday (he da'd about 6 months ago).

  he was telling me that he got a visit from our older brother the day before.

  our older brother was raised a jw but never committed, lives a full-on "worldly" life - smokes, binge drinks, hangs out with non-jws, but he's been studying for about 6 years would you believe?.

  some might call this faith cold, strict, dogmatic but they're just trying to follow rules and give back to god.

  I would highly suggest you study the Bible so many become a slave and have no idea what their slave too. Read all the false prophecies all the contradictions and then ask yourself what you believe.

  As far as baptism there is not scripture where it says baptism is a dedication to god it’s only for forgiveness of sins.

  Job 26:7 “Earth is hanged upon nothing”—proof of inspiration?

  jws has been saying bible is authored by god because job 26:7 says: “earth is being hanged upon nothing.” and this verse in combination with isaiah 40:22 which says “god resides above the circle of earth” implies that earth is spherical and remains unsupported from above or from beneath.

  thus, bible contains the knowledge which science confirmed later.. however, recent understanding of science is that the whole visible part of the universe is only 4%, and the visible exists because of the invisible 96%-- “dark matter 26%” and “dark energy 70%”--which is a fifth and previously unknown type of fundamental force called quintessence, which fills the universe like a fluid serving as a support to the visible universe.

  i surprised mom with flowers and cake ,candy etc.

  she was so happy, i told her i was going to work.

  and couldn't see her for mother's day, she said she was just staying home,as none of my non jw bro's or sisters were taking her out for dinner.

  i had never thought about this until just now when i saw that nathan natas posted some early tract from rutherford, and it made me think back to what little i could remember of the history i was taught.

  i now know that in most cases the dubs will spin stories in their favor.

  so i'm now assuming i was told some fictitious story about what happened when the leaders were thrown in prison and things looked bleak for the cult way back when.

  Who are the 144,000?

  if i am understanding correctly only 144,000 will go to heaven, to be with jesus and help rule?

  these 144,000 are witnesses only.

  there is over a million jw world wide, what happens to the rest of the faithful followers.

  To answer your question, I believe the 144k represent the Jewish converts to Christianity and the other Sheep talked about in the gospels are the gentiles. Both groups are gathered in heaven before the throne of god as stated at chapters 7,14,19 of Revelations. These also join to together r with resurrected ones mentioned at chapter 5 and in verses 9-10 are said to reign on earth as priests . This is in reference to an older scripture I believe in Deuteronomy which says something to the effect of, the nation of Israel is a holy nation of royal priests’ .

  The JWs I believe to make for themselves a laity class made the 144k a special group that go to heaven to rule as kings over the great crowd now residing on earth. Of course the leaders are always of the 144k . This can easily be proven wrong because again the scriptures at Revelations 5:9-10 in the Greek clearly state they will not rule and are not kings and are on the earth.

  It can also be shown that the great crowd is in heaven using the Bible but again the JWs change the meaning of the Greek word Naos so they can claim the crowd is in the earth.
