actually, it is, you must see the video no blood-------medecine meets the challenge.....there's no letting up on the blood issue.
before that part, is, assistance on obeying god's law on blood....you can even get your "blood" cards.....it looks like the hardliners won again!

Well, I'm not sure if you have seen that video or not. I saw it a year ago at Bethel. The only real scandal of it is that it shows how medical advances in recirculated blood, blood filtering, and so on enable you to avoid a traditional transfusion, but still get blood. Of course, it mentioned that this was a conscience matter. But it is clear to me that by showing this they are sanctioning these procedures.

i was in a hormonal state the last couple of days, feeling a little melancholy.....sometimes when i feel like this, i miss being a jw.
don't get me wrong, i have not intention of ever going back.
i've come to realize what i miss is the naivety, the black & white thinking, allowing the organization to pretty much guide my every thought.
One of my roommates at Bethel used to chew tobacco before he was a witness. When he would play baseball, he would put it in the space between his lower lip and his bottom teeth. Now, whenever he would play ball at bethel he would miss the feeling of chewing tobacco there in his mouth. He didn't want to chew tobacco anymore--he didn't crave it that often, he knew it could cause cancer, and he knew it was gross--but he still missed it.
To me, that's what being a witness is. It's that piece of chaw you used to have in your mouth. You don't need it or want it, but you can't stop tonguing that space. You know that you've lost something.

Um, Bob Raines was in charge of the Brooklyn laundry during the late 70's (now on the Operations Committee). Steve Edelman came to Bethel around 1980 and has been in charge of the laundry from 1983-present.

Umm, you don't exactly ring a bell. I met a lot of missionaries from the Dominican Republic--most of them worked in the Laundry while up at Brooklyn for health leave. I also went to a lot of latin dance parties, but only out in my congo. (I was in Whitney Avenue spanish.) I guess the only thing I can tell you is that I worked in the Laundry. Who are you??
i am fairly new to the san diego area.
being part of a large, well known jw family, my dfing was very difficult to deal with.
i was dfed about 2 years ago, and i am still having serious problems with the family.

i spent the first 24 years of my life as a jw, starting in danbury, ct, then to fayetteville & charlotte, nc, and finally brooklyn, bethel, where finally all of my negative inner thoughts and feelings were confirmed.
(from the ages of 14-24 i always felt something just didn't add up with the organization, but i could never quite put a finger on it) i spent my career at bethel in the brooklyn warehouse/purchasing departments and worked with some really great individuals.
