wifibandit - I just wanted to say that you have been truly a big help to all of us here on this board. All though your posts may not get the many replies that other OP's get, I know that there is a lot of people who still look at what you post though. As I think about it, with out you and Atlantis, we would not know what is happening inside the org as much as we do. You have truly been instrumental in helping us all know what the going's on are.
So a big thank-you-so much is in order! Some how you come across this info and decide to share it with us. You don't have to. No one tells you to. But you do. And I just want to say, "Thank you."

Luke 15:4 Has this ever happened in your congregation?
by pleaseresearch inluke 15:4. new international version.
"suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.
doesn't he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?.

pleaseresearch - I'm going to be the first person here to respond and so "No". The elders in my hall did actually leave the meeting, about 22 years ago and help a brother who was in distress. Yes, it actually happened. A brother, no MS or elder, just a lowly publisher, I knew him personally. He didn't have a lot of time in the ministry because he worked full time as a truck mechanic. He became mentally ill and went into the ER at a local hospital. The local elders dropped everything (three elders) and drove to that hospital and did whatever brother Lopez needed at the time. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks before being released, but yes, to answer your question, in my congregation, those elders missed their parts for that night, the MS's had to take up that responsibility some how, (can't remember how that was done), and took care of brother Lopez.
Now, here's the thing though. I would bet by the comments that follow, that this experience is very far and few in between...

Resolutions at Kingdom Hall
by sieborg inanyhow i got to thinking today about my days in the borg and the resolutions that would intermittently be made in the announcements for co visit expenses, sending a donation to society www fund etc.
my point is that while i was in (almost thirty two years) i never once saw anyone put up their hand to vote against a resolution that the body of elders proposed.
on a couple of occasions i heard a few hushed murmurs but i never saw one person vote against.

Sieborg - yes, to answer your question in the OP, I have seen when there was a resolution and there was some apposed. I was about 20 years ago, but there was about 10 or so who were opposed and they raised their hands, compared to the about 90 who were in favor. Nonetheless, the motion was still passed. But, I have to say, this is really rare. -

They will do everything they can to go right up to that line with out crossing it. What I mean is, right up to that line that is in the mind of a typical JW that is. It is way over the line for us, because we are awake and can see the folly in it. But the average JW always see the "good" that Jehovah's organization will do for his people first, then look for any faults waaayy down the line later, much later. So, in the case like this, I don't even think it hits their radar, nope, not at all.
But for us, oh yes, it stinks like sh*t.

Jehovah’s Witnesses’ lock down deal for $700M Brooklyn plot
by defender of truth inthe jehovah’s witnesses appear to have achieved a handshake with their bffs: jared kushner, aby rosen and lvwrk.. the pricing is roughly $700 million for the witnesses’ 733,000-square-foot world headquarters at 25-30 columbia heights and a 1.1-million-square-foot as-of-right development site at 85 jay st.. the same group purchased 1.2 million square feet in dumbo heights for $375 million in 2013 from the witnesses and are now leasing to such companies as wework and etsy.. tech outfits have been circling the brooklyn waterfront properties — and the large “watchtower” on the sign could someday be swapped for a name like “facebook.”.
bob knakal of cushman & wakefield has been running the sale for the witnesses, who are moving to warwick, ny.. multiple contracts were handed out for the properties and, so far, all are unsigned.. there has been interest globally, and local bidders have included l&l holding, east end capital, equity one and vornado realty trust.
when reached, the parties declined comment.. .

I started a thread on this two months ago that said I would pay out through paypal to anyone who could guess the closest to the sale. Looks like we are getting close...

This guy's a real jerk. Purposely with holding information just to get the Watchtower their money quicker?! But I believe it. Nothing is sacred anymore.

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse ini have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.

The GB is really getting intrusive in this whole blood thing aren't they. Saying that the liaison committee can have access to all your "relevant" medical records is really something. I can't believe I just read that. I think what I'm going to do is just have mine signed and copies to everyone, the whole nine yards and then tear my personal one up, and then if I ever have to go to the hospital, talk to the doctors one on one and let them know how I feel.
I mean, that document is completely useless until you can't speak for yourself anyways, and my wife was hounding me about it the other day asking where's mine. And if it comes down to it and I'm confronted with the issue then I will just stand up to everyone and tell them, Hey, I don't believe in the blood doctrine, sorry. And I can cross that bridge when I get there.
edit- actually I will just have it signed and then tell everyone I will get copies to them and the secretary but then never do. I will just keep my copy of it and leave it at that. If I'm hounded and hounded about it, then I will do it. But maybe, just maybe, I won't be bothered with it, and I will be the only one with a copy of it, well me and my wife that is.
