More bad news for the Organisation in Australia
by no-zombie init appears the the commonwealth government is bringing in a national compensation scheme for victims of institutional child sexual abuse with individuals able to claim up to $150,000 each.
it's clear that the australian government will not be able to fund this program without serious money from the offending churches.
so it's bad news for the organization today.. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-11-04/government-announces-redress-for-abuse-victims/7996092.

JW's and the forgotten Jesus
by LevelThePlayingField inso as i have been waking up more and more over the past 3 years...i keep telling myself i'm fully awake and then i wake up more, but that's a different thread.
but anyway, i've noticed a lot lately that the wt does not mention jesus or christ very much in their literature and neither to jw's in their conversations.
they mainly talk about jehovah.

So as I have been waking up more and more over the past 3 years...I keep telling myself I'm fully awake and then I wake up more, but that's a different thread. But anyway, I've noticed a lot lately that the WT does not mention Jesus or Christ very much in their literature and neither to JW's in their conversations. They mainly talk about Jehovah. And when Jesus or Christ is mentioned, a lot of times it's a quote from the Bible.
So I got to thinking. I wonder just how many titles of videos on JW.org are there with the word "Jesus" or the word "Christ" in it. So I went on line and here's what I found.
66 videos in the Children section and zero on Jesus
54 in Teenagers, zero about Jesus
26 in Family and you guessed it, zero about JC
112 Programs & Events, zero for JC
86 Our Activities, notta for JC once again
44 Our Meeting & Ministry and 2 videos mentioning Jesus. "Why Would Jesus Die" & "Remember Jesus' Death"
78 Our Organization, zip for Jesus Christ
58 The Bible, zero again
8 videos under "Bible Teachings" and one video about Jesus. But it's the same video as above. "Why Did Jesus Die"
38 in the Movies, zero for JC
54 Music, none for JC
116 Interviews & Experiences, nope, still none for JC
And in our new song book:
Songs (3 songs out of 151)
Song#13 Christ Our Model
Song#14 Praising Earth's New King (because they pump up JC heavily)
Song#120 Imitate Christ's Mildness
Obviously, with only 2 videos out of hundreds on jw.org that talk about Jesus and 3 songs out of 151, the JW's don't think much about Jesus.
Your thoughts?

More speculation on Kingdom Hall closers and money grabbing?
by Crazyguy inthere continues to be more and more rumors of more halls being sold off some even taking the first offer.
the borg trying to get thier bond money back from the court in san diego asap and there's been elders meetings about this consolidation.
my questions is why after selling off all this real estate in new york for over a billion dollars are they still acting like thier broke?

Everytime I turn around I hear thing like this. At the annual meeting all they did was release a new song book. And then they announced pretty much strongly at the meeting if you want one to download it. When I go back to the literature counter, well, there really isn't anything there. I asked the lit servant for a Trinity brochure cause I wanted to looked up the misquotes in it and he searched around for it and I noticed that there's hardly any literature in the place.
If you think about, when's the last time you can ever remember the offer of the month being a book? It's been a long time. Like years.

Coming to a Kingdom Hall near you
by FatFreek 2005 inputting it simply, kingdom halls are no longer the property of a local group of the folks that paid for and constructed it.
the lender, the watchtower society, now says that once a mortgage is satisfied, that congregation must then declare a resolution which says it will continue to make payments, usually equal to the amount they were paying on the mortgage.
and they must do so indefinitely.

LevelThePlayingField
And unfortunately my friend, you just spoke the truth with what you said just here. That's how it really roles in the Watchtower world, might as well call it the real world cause that's who's in it. Sad but true. -

Rape Victim Forced To Listen To a Tape Of Her Assault In A JC
by pale.emperor inthis is absolutely outrageous.
a rape victim was forced to listen to herself being raped while the elders stopped and started the tape claiming she was consenting.
even though during one of the assaults she was duct-taped, gagged and had a pillowcase over her head.

I know right. Just think about all the cases like this that don't get into the news. You know that this is not the only truly crazy case like this. Why on earth is it necessary to listen to it for 4-5 hours?

POP QUIZ: You're An Elder, And A Sister Has Suicidal Thoughts...
by pale.emperor inlets imagine you're a jehovah's witness elder.
you have zero theological training aside from what you've read in the watchtower and the currently still approved watchtower publications, you have zero counseling skills, and no medical training.
a recently bereaved sister approaches you in tears and tells you she just wants to die.. what do you do?.

LevelThePlayingField
If I remember right, part of this video was shown at a service meeting (what's the new name?) a couple months back. I asked an elder, so what if that sister went ahead and killed herself that night after the brothers left? He just got wide-eye and looked at me and said, well, I guess she'll be with us in paradise.
WTF!
I looked back at him, just as wide-eyed and said, yeah, but don't you think it would have been helpful for the elders to suggest for her to get some professional help at least? He just said, that's a good point.
But it's too late, the video is already out there.

You know, it's funny. The JW's would never produce a live stage performance like this, ever. What a difference in religions. But yeah, just throw scriptures at people is what elders do.

The Debate Is Over...
by JW_Rogue infor years theologians and historians have researched who the historical person known as jesus was and how much of the biblical account could be verified.
countless books have been written going into great detail.
this has been a controversial subject with some even claiming that jesus never existed.

I know, I felt the same way when I read the short article. I thought, that's it? Just a few quotes from historians of the time and that's your proof? Oh, and the Bible says so too, yeah, forgot about that. After I read the article I thought it was really lame. Anyone could have done that.

Does becoming (or remaining) one of Jehovah's Witnesses result in Poverty? Pew Research results differ from Watchtower claims.
by Balaamsass2 in"raised in the truth" during the 50s, 60s,and 70s i repeatedly read and heard from the platform how reading the magazines weekly "was the equivalent of a college education" and how many had turned their family economic situation around by being "trustworthy" and giving up expensive bad habits most "worldly people" had.
sounded good.. what is the reality?
how does avoiding higher education, and then spending up to 20 hours a week getting ready for, commuting, and then participating in meetings and field service affect family finances?.

Look at the Hindu religion. Complete opposite as the JW's.

by LevelThePlayingField inif only the gb did this!
notice how in this 2 minute video he says that he says he "accepts that abuse has happened" and offers an "unreserved apology" and "will not defend this failure on our part".
he said he is personally available to meet with survivors and to offer a personal apology.

He said he will be present personally each day during the Royal Commission and will attempt to keep you informed as it progresses. Wow. Can you imagine if that was Geoffrey Jackson saying all that? Well listen to the whole video for the whole thing because it's exactly opposite of Jackson said.
