Why are JDubs scared to death of apostate websites?
by Sour Grapes inwhen i was an elder back in the 1970's i loved to debate and challenge ministers, preachers, and holy rollers.
now you can be a loyal jdub fully indoctrinated for 30 years but just take a peek at an apostate website and you are doomed.
yes, satan now has you by the gonads and all of the years of being at the meetings, all of the family worship nights, all of the conventions, and all of the personal study just go up in a cloud of smoke.

You have a really good point when you say that just one peek at an apostate website and POOF, there goes the JW's belief system, down the drain.
I remember on brother telling me one time that we should avoid anything or anyone even close to apostasy because he heard of an apostate who came to the meeting one time and whispered in someone's ear something and then that person never came back to the meetings again, ever.
I thought to myself when he said that to me, "well, then that person's faith wasn't worth anything if that's all it takes."
Really, hey, it's true. If you have the truth, then no matter who says to you "2+2=5 or the moon is made of cheese" type of comments, it don't matter. The TRUTH can handle scrutiny.
But that's where the rubber meets the road. THEY DON'T HAVE THE TRUTH.
End of story.

Ireland
by berrygerry inhttps://www.businesspost.ie/news/concerns-grow-jehovahs-witnesses-irish-child-sex-abuse-files-421695.
concerns grow over jehovah’s witnesses irish child sex abuse files.
the sunday business post (ireland), sunday, july 22, 2018 - page 11. the jehovah’s witnesses have been urged to give the authorities potentially hundreds of documents related to child sex abuse in ireland over fears the organisation could be forced to delete them after a recent european court of justice ruling on the religion’s data-handling practices.. this month, the european court of justice ruled that the jehovah’s witnesses church was not exempt on any religious grounds from certain elements of the newly introduced gdpr data protection laws.. the jehovah's witnesses had argued that its practice of door-to-door preaching was covered by an exemption to the data protection law, but the court upheld an earlier decision by the finnish supreme court.. it now leaves the religion's irish and british headquarters - known at the watch tower - with a conundrum in relation to the potentially thousands of documents related to child abuse allegations in both countries, according to jason wynne, a former jehovah's witness who is now a campainger for awareness about instances of abuse within the religion.. wynne told the sunday business post that while the new law allows current and former jehovah's witnesses to request the deletion of files containing sensitive personal information, it could also "have a knock-on effect to their child abuse policies.".

But for JW's it's many times in front of two or three elders, there for the clergy priviledge is out the window.

Field Ministry is like 1980 Milk Carton Missing Child
by LevelThePlayingField inimagine going to the door today and showing the householder a milk carton from 1980 with a missing child on it and asking, "have you ever seen this child?
" the householder looks and quickly says, "no i haven't, sorry.".
then the next door, same thing.

Imagine going to the door today and showing the householder a milk carton from 1980 with a missing child on it and asking, "Have you ever seen this child?" The householder looks and quickly says, "No I haven't, sorry."
Then the next door, same thing. Then at the next door the guy says, "No, never seen her. But you're doing a fine work and nice suit by the way..." and off you go to the next door for another irrelevant question to be asked to another person who simply replies, No, haven't seen him/her...and so on, and so on.
Today, I think the ministry of JW's is just like walking over to your neighbors house with a milk carton from 1980 and asking if you've seen this 7 year missing girl. The household is thinking things like, "What the hell are you doing showing me a milk carton of a missing girl from 38 fricken years ago. She's probably either dead or like 50 years old now!! What's the use?!"
And if you think about it, isn't their message pretty much the same, "What's the use?"
They preach, what, that the end will come when? How do you even explain it now a days? That the end will come in "an-overlapping-generation from now? How do you even begin to explain that to the guy across the street? He'd be like, um, well, a generation to me is like when I have kids, that's the next generation. What the hell are you talking about?"
The urgency is completely gone. Completely. Back in the 80's and early 90's when Witnesses went to the door, they eagerly and excitedly showed people at the door the quote from Matthew, "this generation will by no means pass away..." from 1914 onward, that generation is like almost completely over, so NOW is the time... and many householders would get the point.
But now???? Where's the drive? Hey, folks, it's gone.
Just think...remember the milk cartons from the 1980's with the missing children? Well, they are now in a landfill covered by about 50 feet or so of other landfill material. Many decades of daily life heaped upon it.
Everybody, keep your chin up. One day, the JW religion will be just like that 1980's milk carton.
Peace out. :)

ToesUp, I couldn't agree more. Just think about the leaked videos showing how unable they have been to be a good steward with the congregants money. And even if you never saw any of the leaked videos, like a regular JW, if they have any memory that just a couple of years ago they said they needed to build 300 KH per year every year for 5 years. Now all of the sudden, "we don't need to build any" and "we will just make best use of available funds"
Well, very good. Good for you, that's the way it should be. But, wait....that's the way it SHOULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE FRICKEN START!!!
It shouldn't take you 2-3 years to figure this out. On one of the latest Mike & Kim videos, the leak video said that the GB didn't even know how many KH there were in the U.S. Hello!!! Finance 101. Know your inventory!
But the good ole GB didn't even know the 101. So sad for them. There ARE JW's who have noticed this. There are, they are not many, there are some. And the more time that goes by and more blunder, you can bet, the chink in the armor is moving along quite nicely.
Rant over.

Moving Back to Chicago - Don't care
by LevelThePlayingField inmy wife was diagnosed with ms about two years ago.
we have been living in ohio for the last 5 years but were recently assigned to a new congregation because of the dissolving and sale of our congregation/kh.
my wife's symptoms spiked after being relocated to our new hall back in january.

LevelThePlayingField
I can't believe it but my new boss just called me yesterday and said that they can no longer offer me the position in Chicago!!!! WTF!
But he did say that the SAME position is open in the area I live now.
The first thing I thought about was, "So what the hell is going to happen to my plan of fading?!"
My wife was very much set on moving as well. But maybe keeping the same apt ( we live in an efficiency apt) will be stable for her. And her MS is stable, but maybe this staying here will keep her grounded? I don't know for sure. I never told any of the elders about my moving. I was planning on just keeping it a secret, or until my "in" wife told everyone. As far as I know she hasn't yet. So maybe it's for the better.
Anyway, maybe work will have overtime and I'll be "forced to miss meetings" :)
Love you all in this community!

the first in a series of 8 articles / reclaimed voices / "this is our secret.

This is probably the saddest article I have read. What the hell is wrong with people?!
Elder says, "I touch your pee pee, and don't you tell anyone cause I'm high up in the congregation and I might do something to you."
I'm glad he's dead.

NWT support of John 1:1. Punching holes in it
by LevelThePlayingField inthis is what they have in the new world translation index 6a to support their version of john 1:1. they are not honest even to their own people.
they list the year of the bible, rendering, and source.
but there's only two sources that actually lend any type of support to their argument.

I'm not sure if the last three references are of the same book. It seems like it by the title.

Reclaimed voices respond to jw.org's recent public statement regarding the Dutch governments decision to investigate
by Diogenesister ini'm so sorry if this has already been posted but i think its too important and interesting to miss.. reclaimed voices chairman raymond hintjies responds to jw.orgs dutch lawyer's statement that the dutch govt.
investigating watchtower's 300 incidents of csa would be akin to"shooting a mosquito with a water cannon" .
i particularly like raymond's sensitive message to concerned jw parents, at around 3 minutes or so, .

He makes some very good, solid points. Seems like Watchtower only makes excuses.

This is what they have in the New World Translation Index 6A to support their version of John 1:1. They are not honest even to their own people. They list the year of the Bible, rendering, and source. But there's only two sources that actually lend any type of support to their argument. The first one’s actually from a Bible. The second one, The Emphatic Diaglott, The Watchtower had copyrights to it for decades and is a horrible translation. The the 4th one down 1950, "New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures, Brooklyn". That's the part they are being deceptive about. After each Bible, they list who the author is. They put, "Brooklyn". They don't even put, "by, Brooklyn". Because then you would think it was a person named Brooklyn. It’s the Watchtower’s OWN Bible and they are citing it here saying, “look at these other Bibles that support us”. Then to be more deceptive, the last 3 are simply reference works, NOT Bibles.
The New Testament, in An Improved Version,1808
The translators think there’s seven books of the New Testament that aren’t authentic.
They think that the miraculous conception of Jesus is fiction.
They don’t believe the Lamb is real.
They think that “everlasting cutting-off” of the wicked means restoring them to happiness.
They believe that Satan is a symbolic being.
Emphatic Diaglott, by Benjamin Wilson 1902
Wilson’s translation makes it hard to know if Jesus is a god or Jehovah.
He admits to allowing suggestions and opinions from friends to change the translation.
He says demons are not real.
The Watchtower says his translation is biased and has faults.
The Watchtower says they think that Wilson doesn’t believe in in the Devil, Jesus’ prehuman existence and that Jesus is in heaven with his fleshly body.
(So they are both horrible translations and the translators were very biased)
