Security cameras inside & outside the Kingdom Hall ?
by gingerbread ini recently heard from a family member who is still active about the new security system in her kh.. during the installation of the digital projector on the auditorium's ceiling, she said that the brothers who came to install it (i'm assuming some from the regional bldg group) also installed security cameras.. she specifically mentions a computer screen at the sound box that shows live feeds of - the parking lot, the carport/drop-off, interior view of the entrance, the lobby and magazine counter & the 'little room' ( the 'elders room' with conference table, computer and printers, filing cabinets, library, etc).. has anyone seen or heard of these being installed in a local hall ?.
comments?.

This is standard now. The system also includes door controls so after the meeting starts you have to be buzzed in by whoever is running the system.

Form a religion that promises people everlasting life if they do what you tell them. Self appoint yourself as god's spokesman. convince your members that they need to contribute money and years of time to build a high class lake front resort for "god's work". Tell them that when they do contribute time, money, and energy that they are making God happy. They feel fulfilled and you get your resort at no cost. Convince them that the project is necessary and proves that god is behind the effort. God needs volleyball courts, swimming pools, tennis courts, and a sauna.
Sell the development for a massive profit and then start over at another location in 20 years.

How to stop Warwick
by Skinnedsheep ini was thinking what a crushing blow it would be to the organization if the warwick project was stalled or held up in court.
many times a project will run into legal challenges over environmental issues or a lack of planning on the social-traffic- air quality - noise impacts.
political pressure on the council also can create headaches for the project proponents.. i saw a community once that had an indian casino planned.

There are environmental groups that can indefinitely stall projects. other partners might be cultural groups. Looking at the eis it appears that it is possible that "cult"urally significant resources could be impacted.

Interestingly in the impact statement no mention is made of visitors/tours to the facility. Every impact is based on the resident population of the development and not the daily population including the hordes of visitors dressed in anything but denim .

I saw a community once that had an Indian Casino planned. The council approved the plans but once the community got wind of the real impacts they went nuts. There were advocate groups, signs on plywood on trucks, mailers, commercials and a whole host of oppositional town meetings in an effort to stop it. The council had already made their decision and legally the project could continue. However the organized opposition of the community created such an environment that the Casino developer said screw it and built in another community.
The community arguments were....
no tax benefit to the community
increased traffic and noise
exta demands on police fire garbage schools and roads without revenue to ssupport
negative branding of the community as "the place with the casino"
damage to the environment, yellow belly garter snake butterflies
fear of an undesirable element corrupting children
Imagine the psycological impact it would be to the bus loads of volunter workers if they saw signs protesting the development. Imagine the bad press generated by a political firestorm of opposition against this project. Imagine the pain to the society reputationally and financially if they have to find another site.
projects like this have been stopped before

Lurkers/faders in the US - a heads up on next week's service meeting (Warwick HQ project to be discussed)
by cedars inhi folks.
atlantis has very kindly let me see a copy of the aug 21, 2013 letter to all bodies of elders in the united states.. they are being instructed to re-organize the service meeting for the week commencing september 2nd (next week) to include a special recruitment talk to attract skilled volunteer workers for the new warwick hq.. an interesting feature of the letter is its comparison of the project with nehemiah's rebuilding of the walls of jerusalem.
considering the relocation of hq is financially motivated more than anything, the analogy is more than a little bewildering.. here is a scan of the opening comments of the two-page outline, to be given in the next local needs item.... .

We are building a religion
We are building it bigger
We are widening the corridors
And adding more lanes
We are building a religion
A limited edition
We are now accepting callers
For these pendant ke y chains
To resist it is useless
It is useless to resist it
His cigarette is burning
But he never seems to ash
He is grooming his poodle
He is living comfort eagle
You can meet at his location
But you'd better come w ith cash
We are building a religion
We are making a brand
We're the only ones to turn to
When your castles turn to s and

This talk made me sick. The argument is that since the apostles had false expectations and asked Jesus the question " are you restoring the kingdom at this time?", that we are the same as an organization. We just had false expectations. Were the apostles false prophets? no, then jws arent either. Such a flawed argument....
1. There is a difference between asking a question and making a prediction.
2. The apostles didn't force others to believe their wrong expectation.
the meeting ended with song 116, the "light gets brighter" with the verse "our lord has given us a trustworthy slave to give us food in due season"
these types of parts prove that there is willful deception going on at the upper level of the cult.
