Are you still considered an outcast because of your JW past?
by Quirky1 ineven though i no longer proclaim being a jw it seems to have tarnished my relationship with others, including family and even co-workers.
.
i feel as tho i am still treated differently than others..

Not me, I can walk into almost any church and be treated with the utmost respect., same with my non-jw family, and my friends up in Kentucky.

What convinced you?
by heybaby inas far as doctrine goes, what finally convinced you that this isn't the truth?
-

When they changed their doctrine on the 1914 generation, up until that time, while I still had alot of discontent with the cult itself, I still could not rule it out, until they themselves changed that doctrine.

by Country Girl ini know it's old for us, but for me i never stop being scared.. remember the old paradise book, how a little kid and a bicycle were going down a big crack in the earth?

I no longer believe in their concept of Armageddon, so I guess it doesn't bother me anymore.

What if...
by Honesty inted jaracz formally disassociated himself from the jw's and started posting on this forum.. .
.
would you welcome him with open arms?.

it depends, but I definitely would be interested in hearing what he has to say. If he is sincere and fully repented of his involvement in the JW's, I would be more inclined to welcome him.

Six Screens comments on controversial conference call
by kool aid man06 inwithout question, the ravyn guiliani interview on the six screens conference call created lots of controversy.
ravyn's experience with sra (satanic ritual abuse) was instantly rejected by so many.
it was as though people pre-judicated her story before she had a chance to tell it.

I agree with you StAnn, I didn't listen to this particular call, but from what I have learned about the WT, very little would surprise me anymore. 10 years ago, if someone told me there was a pedophile problem in the JW's, I wouldn't have believed it. 10 years ago I never believed the WT would have anything to do with the UN.

The Reason ex-JWs Don't Communicate Well With Others
by StAnn ini've been giving this a lot of thought.
i'm thinking that, as a born-in, i was raised thinking that everybody who wasn't a dub was stupid and i had to go door-to-door to enlighten them.
and that the ones who were so stupid and stubborn as to not respond to my message (which was all of them, lol!

We did, but then again, you aren't like alot of XJW's. You are one of the exceptions.

It is just the opposite for me, I can bond better with "worldly" people more than EX-JW's, especially those with similar backgrounds and culture.

The Racist Roots of Georgia's Gun Laws
by Bendrr inhttp://www.georgiacarry.org/cms/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/racist-roots-of-ga-gun-laws.pdf.
"disarm the negroes!
" is a headline that once was found in the now ultra-liberal and anti-gun atlanta journal & constitution.. don't think that georgia and the former confederate states of america are alone in this..

But what I am wondering is if the people/government of the South even recognized the emancipation proclamation? I have asked this before and the answer was that the the slaves were not freed until the Union soldiers freed them, or the owners voluntarily freed them. What do you think?

I forgot to mention that within Eastern Kentucky there are 2 small black populations, one is in Hazard and the other is in Harlan, the funny thing is that down there the black people talk with the same mountain accent that the white people do, and you can hardly tell it apart.
