I don't think it is fair to paint all Jehovah's Witnesses as cold or uncaring. Yes there is an aspect of conditional friendship, but that is not self motivated, but rather enforced by their organization. To say that no one ever had true friends in the JW religion is absolutely false. There are many who would have given their shirt off their back for their friends. The problem is the fear instilled by the Org.

Thank you Carla and Rebecca, Yeah life is much better now, but it hasn't been easy this year, I have had to fight to get where I am now. But things are so much better. I love my new church, I thank God for my friend Dave, I consider him a blessing from heaven. He loves to hear me talk about my hometown in Kentucky, and he said today that he would love to ride up there for the day and do some 4-wheeling. I can't wait. Now if I could only talk him into taking guitar lessons with me. That is my New Years resolution for this year, to take guitar lesssons, I would love to be able to pick and sing for church, they have already asked me to be their music director.
Well I can't post here that often, just thought I would check in. I will see you all later and check in down the road. -

Well here is my end of year update.
All good news to report. After being here for so many years and feeling isolated, things have started to improve. Just recently I have found a church that I really love, after so many years of looking, I have finally found a church that is so similar to what I have back in Kentucky. There is only one small doctrinal difference, but I am Ok with that. The music, the preaching, everything is so what I have grown accustomed to. It took me awhile, but I finally found it. I plan on joining the church and will be baptized in the spring, as soon as it warms up. I have made several new friends at church, and that all seem like family to me now. There is even one really cute girl there that I have been kinda drawn to. She is not actually free yet, she is separated from her husband, but she does make eyes to me, and is always enthusiastically happy to see me. I am going to try to keep a little distance, given her marital situation.
As for me and friend, after a rough spot back in the summer, we have become really good friends, we are best friends actually. He told me that he loved me like a brother, and I told him the same. I plan on spending Christmas eve with he and his family. His wife likes me too, and she is a real sweetie. He has a really beautiful family, they are all American as Mom, Apple Pie, and the Flag.
Amanda is doing well in her new marriage, I surprisingly got a birthday card from her, I wasn't expecting that in a million years.
I still go to Kentucky and Ohio quite a bit, but it seems I have much more going for me now here, so I plan to spend more time here this year visiting my new church, and hanging out with my new buddy Dave. We all are planning a trip to Washington DC next year with his family, and also I plan to do some fishing with him next year.
Life is going great, and I am doing the best I can to put the JW/EX JW experience behind me. Life is starting to fall into place. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years I will be married again, and working on a family of my own.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks weeping for the concern, but I don't believe he is gay. We just get along well as friends, plus his wife can't/won't do the things on vacation that he likes, such as riding the amusement park rides, and his kids are too small to ride with him. So I will be tagging along.
I have been looking for a good friend ever since I have left Kentucky, and it just seems like it was meant to be for our friendship. We enjoy joking around, and we both have a good sense of humor. We enjoy hanging out together, and he has told me that he thinks of me like a brother, and I feel the same.
Things are going well and I am having alot of fun this summer.

I meant to say that she was having an affair with a married man after we broke up, as far as I know she wasn't cheating with anyone while we were dating.
And for Serena, thanks for the update. Now that Mountain Days is cancelled, I can go on with other plans. August will be a busy month for me. -

Scott77, to answer your question, I really wasn't too interested in her from the get go, but on the insistance of a friend I tried to give it a shot. I told her upfront I was looking to take things slow, but she was too head over heels too quickly.
Her true likes and dislikes probably didn't match mine nearly as much as she claimed. She was just too agreeable. She was like a parrot for everything I said. I respect a woman who has her own beliefs and is not ashamed of them, but she was willing to compromise her beliefs and her tastes to match mine, and that was a turnoff for me.
The sad part is I really did enjoy hanging out with her at first, but after that it became a chore. I started purposefully missing her phone calls, and I would go a whole week without even calling her.
The only reason it took me so long to break up with her was I was trying to figure out a way to break it off without her having a nervous breakdown.
She was barely 6 months divorced, and was looking for the first man to marry. I told her upfront that I was just getting out of a bad marriage and I was wanting to take things slow. I wasn't nearly in a hurry to remarry as she was, and therein was the problem.
Since we broke up, I found out through the grapevine, that she was having an affair with 2 different married men, one before we met, and one after we met. The funny thing is 6 weeks after we broke up she was already engaged to the first guy that came along.
I am so thankful I got out of that mess when I did. -

Thanks you all, good to see you again.
And Mouthy, it is good to see you are alive and well too. No, I won't be going to Blue Mountain this year, as my vacation time is already planned out for the remainder of the year. I am going on vacation to Ohio and Michigan for 2 weeks starting on the 3rd of July. Then in August I will take another vacation to Ohio with my friend and his family to Kings Island. Then I also plan on going back to Myrtle Beach in September by myself. Then In October, my friend has invited me to go to Orlando with him for a week. So my schedule is booked solid this year. Maybe next year I can make it to Pennsylvania.
I will probably check in every now and then here, but I don't seem to understand the layoyut here as well as I did the old JWD, so I won't be a regular anymore.
But it is good to see you all are fine. -

I still do alot of traveling, but mostly to Ky and Ohio, however I have been visiting Nashville alot, and I just got back home 2 weeks ago from a trip to Myrtle Beach. I went down there for a wedding of a friend at work, and had a great time playing in the sand and sun, although one of my friends complained so much it almost ruined the trip.
One more positive piece of news, I went on a diet last year and I have lost 45 pounds, I am now wearing pant sizes that I havent worn in 10 years. All of my fami
ly is still alive and doing well.
