JW Kids Who Lack Sincerity: Are You In The Flipping Truth Or Not?
by Apognophos indid any of you know a jw youth who didn't seem to really even try to be sincere about the "truth"?
not someone who led a double life while pretending to be a goody-goody jw.
i mean the kind of kid who went to the meetings and did field service while making minimal effort at maintaining a pretense of being a true believer?.

What is wrong with doing their own thing? (within reasonable parameters). This is one thing I totally disagree with the WT over---the total control over the children. Someone raised in that Cult has been indoctrinated since birth--they have "considered" that religion since day one, or else when something happened early on that caused them to question it.

The problem is that this religion was built lie upon lie, and these kids may have a gut feeling it isn't the truth, but through all the lies they have been indoctrinated with, they can't really say it isn't. They are left in a catch 22 situation. I despised this religion from the time I was a small child, yet I could not prove it was wrong (until way later on). So I can understand some of these kids you describe. As for the kid that liked rural territory because he didn't have to talk to very many people--he may well have been just a shy person. I am sure there are lots of sincere believing JW's that have trouble talking with strangers, they can't help it, that is just the way they are--that doesn't make them any less sincere.

I have no Real Friends!
by stuckinarut2 ini have come to a startling and sad realisation!.
i have no real friends!.
i have always been extremely active in every aspect of the org, since childhood.

I don't think it is fair to paint all Jehovah's Witnesses as cold or uncaring. Yes there is an aspect of conditional friendship, but that is not self motivated, but rather enforced by their organization. To say that no one ever had true friends in the JW religion is absolutely false. There are many who would have given their shirt off their back for their friends. The problem is the fear instilled by the Org.

Thank you Carla and Rebecca, Yeah life is much better now, but it hasn't been easy this year, I have had to fight to get where I am now. But things are so much better. I love my new church, I thank God for my friend Dave, I consider him a blessing from heaven. He loves to hear me talk about my hometown in Kentucky, and he said today that he would love to ride up there for the day and do some 4-wheeling. I can't wait. Now if I could only talk him into taking guitar lessons with me. That is my New Years resolution for this year, to take guitar lesssons, I would love to be able to pick and sing for church, they have already asked me to be their music director.
Well I can't post here that often, just thought I would check in. I will see you all later and check in down the road. -

Well here is my end of year update.
All good news to report. After being here for so many years and feeling isolated, things have started to improve. Just recently I have found a church that I really love, after so many years of looking, I have finally found a church that is so similar to what I have back in Kentucky. There is only one small doctrinal difference, but I am Ok with that. The music, the preaching, everything is so what I have grown accustomed to. It took me awhile, but I finally found it. I plan on joining the church and will be baptized in the spring, as soon as it warms up. I have made several new friends at church, and that all seem like family to me now. There is even one really cute girl there that I have been kinda drawn to. She is not actually free yet, she is separated from her husband, but she does make eyes to me, and is always enthusiastically happy to see me. I am going to try to keep a little distance, given her marital situation.
As for me and friend, after a rough spot back in the summer, we have become really good friends, we are best friends actually. He told me that he loved me like a brother, and I told him the same. I plan on spending Christmas eve with he and his family. His wife likes me too, and she is a real sweetie. He has a really beautiful family, they are all American as Mom, Apple Pie, and the Flag.
Amanda is doing well in her new marriage, I surprisingly got a birthday card from her, I wasn't expecting that in a million years.
I still go to Kentucky and Ohio quite a bit, but it seems I have much more going for me now here, so I plan to spend more time here this year visiting my new church, and hanging out with my new buddy Dave. We all are planning a trip to Washington DC next year with his family, and also I plan to do some fishing with him next year.
Life is going great, and I am doing the best I can to put the JW/EX JW experience behind me. Life is starting to fall into place. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years I will be married again, and working on a family of my own.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks weeping for the concern, but I don't believe he is gay. We just get along well as friends, plus his wife can't/won't do the things on vacation that he likes, such as riding the amusement park rides, and his kids are too small to ride with him. So I will be tagging along.
I have been looking for a good friend ever since I have left Kentucky, and it just seems like it was meant to be for our friendship. We enjoy joking around, and we both have a good sense of humor. We enjoy hanging out together, and he has told me that he thinks of me like a brother, and I feel the same.
Things are going well and I am having alot of fun this summer.

I meant to say that she was having an affair with a married man after we broke up, as far as I know she wasn't cheating with anyone while we were dating.
And for Serena, thanks for the update. Now that Mountain Days is cancelled, I can go on with other plans. August will be a busy month for me.
