That quote was on JWN several years ago, but I will google it until I find it.

Some interesting points when considering Russell's masonic activities.
by oldguy inthis will be the first time i have communicated with former witnesses in this manner, so please be patient with me as i figure out how this all works.. it would be great to find a brother in scotland who could trace the membership records of the knights templar division of the masonic lodge that russell belonged to.. if indeed he was a 32nd degree master mason in the order, then he would have been practicing secret rituals for a considerable number of years during his adult life in order to achieve the title of master mason and being referred to as "worshipful master".. small wonder he was so determined to have his father (a mason with powerful contacts) on board the original bible study group.. makes it somewhat more understandable how he was able to give lectures in carnagie hall, and attract financing donations during the early years of the society.. what more could the rich families in america that supported the early zionist movement ask for than to support zion's watchtower and it"s elitist form of heavenly class distictions.. there are claims that joseph rutherford was also a member of the same masonic lodge as his mentor charles russell.. all this begs us to ask can a rotten tree ever produce good fruit?
or can a crooked tree be made to grow straight?.
welcome your thoughts and comments.

While doing research a few years back, I discovered a Charles T.Russell as a member of a masonic lodge in another state. It was common then for some people hold membership in lodges outside the area where they live. Also Russell admitted to being a freemason in one of his speeches. he just stated that he was from a different order than the group he was speaking to.

How Has Turning Athiest/ Agnostic Affected You?
by minimus inmany jws believed in god.
now many here, do not believe in a deity.
how has this affected you in your life?.

Well I still believe in God, though the Devil has tried every trick in the book to destroy my faith. Even so far as having a "supposed" friend lead me to a church where the social dynamics worked against me. I walked away from that church, in order to keep my faith, even though I still have a good home church in Kentucky. I still believe in God, even though I don't have a good local church in Tennessee, nor do I have a desire to find one.

This video was on the actual jw site 2 weeks ago, now I can't locate it. I wonder if the Whiskey distillery part was what caused them to remove it?

I just don't see how BAC's/JWs can get around the false prophecy at 2 Kings:1-4
by booker-t inthis post is mainly directed at bacs(born again christians) more so then jws because jws have set dates before whereas bacs have always claimed they are not "false prophets" like jws and mormons.
at 2 kings 20:1-4 the "prophet" isaiah come to hezekiah's deathbed and tells him to get his affairs in order because "the lord says you will not recover and you will die".
now if this is not a "thus saith the lord" prophecy then my name is not booker-t. then hezekiah wept and begged god to remember all the good things and his devotion to god.

Here's another question, why do some XJW's criticize the watchtower for twisting the bible, and then turn around and join a liberal religion that uses the same bible twisting tactics that the watchtower does?

Booker, when God changes his mind it is for the better. The difference is JW's lie from the very beginning, and only change their doctrine once their prophecy has failed--after all the wrecked lives it has caused. God has mercy, and if he chooses to forgive someone, then even better!

The simple answer--God changed his mind with Hezekiah. I also believe there are other instances in the bible where God changed his mind due to the repentance of the people.
Also with the JW's, they currently and in the past made false prophecies that didn't come true. The BAC's that I know have never made any prophecies tying the end to a specific generation of people. They have always made vague references, and with good reason to--Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour.

I remember when she either filed for divorce or when the divorce was final, I said, "mark my words, within a year she will be dead"--a year later, I was shocked because I had remembered saying that.

JW signage in all caps
by little_Socrates inhas anybody else noticed all the jws signage is in all caps and ussually always in the same font?
it makes them look stupid and uneducated.
is this their attempt at creating a sense of unity?

I don't think most people would be offended by the letters in caps--it is a non issue
