Anybody see this?
by Junction-Guy ini just saw a couple of news stories from israel.
apparently the jw's were attempting to hold some kind of convention there, and the the town ruled against the jw's, but another court sided with the jw's and they were allowed to have their event.
it turns out several hundred local orthodox jews turned out to protest this event, and it did turn violent at one point.

I just saw a couple of news stories from Israel. Apparently the JW's were attempting to hold some kind of convention there, and the the town ruled against the JW's, but another court sided with the JW's and they were allowed to have their event. It turns out several hundred local orthodox Jews turned out to protest this event, and it did turn violent at one point. I thought it was interesting that one of the Jews made the remark that he didn't want the children subjected to their brainwashing. Sorry I don't have the link to post, but you can google it. -

75% of Jehovahs Witnesses oppose same-sex marriage? And 12% are in favour of it??
by defender of truth inwww.allgov.com/news/controversies/which-religions-oppose-same-sex-marriage-white-evangelicals-black-and-hispanic-protestants-mormons-and-muslims-150424?news=856319.
opposition to same-sex marriage is prominent among many religious groups in the united states, according to a new survey.groups with the largest opposition to homosexuals marrying are jehovahs witnesses (75%), mormons (68%), white evangelical protestants (66%), hispanic protestants (58%), black protestants (54%), and muslims (51%), the public religion research institute found in its survey of 40,000 americans.among white evangelical protestants, white baptists are the most opposed (72%).on the acceptance side of the issue, the most supportive are buddhists (84%), jews (77%), americans who select other religion (75%), and white mainline protestants (62%).a breakdown of white mainline protestant denominations shows support is highest among presbyterians (69%) and both episcopalians and congregationalists/united church of christ members (68%).even a majority of white mainline baptists (53%) back same-sex marriages.
among catholics, 61% of whites and 60% of hispanics support gay weddings.. and the survey is here:.

I think with the JW's, you are not going to get an accurate answer, because unlike some "religions", JW's have a private opinion and then their public one, and this goes for any issue. Take blood, almost all JW's will say they are against blood, but now many X-JW's will say that they never fully believed in the blood ban, they only went along with it because the Society said they had to. I think the 75% is somewhat accurate, and feel it is actually lower than that.
I do think that the JW religion will soften their stance on this issue alot quicker than the bible believing churches.

Indiana "Religious Freedom" (right to discriminate)
by Simon insickening to see the photo of the religious zealots all stood around the governor signing into law the right for people to discriminate against others (gay, lesbian, trans-gender) based purely on religious dogma.. if religious people want those freedoms then the can't have it both ways - they cannot complain if *they* are discriminated against.. "sorry, we don't like zionists, get out".
"oh, it's some special mass and you can't work your shift?
you're fired!"..

If being a bible believing (non-cult) christian makes me a bigot (in your eyes)--then yes I am proud! -

I am not the least bit upset--in fact I would be surprised if you werent that way at all. I realize you are an atheist, and in being so, this is to be expected. If you were supporting me, talking decently to me, and not resorting to name calling, then I would know that I was in the wrong. -

you are poor example too--you preach tolerance, then when someone holds a view different from yours, you resort to name calling--you are a hypocrite. -

By the way, I never said they all were like that, just the ones I have met, and the ones who are working on the agenda--the non-political ones, not so much. -

Wow, you are so filled with hate! You can't even allow someone to disagree with you without going all ballistic and name calling.
