what i have realized studying JWs,the bitter truth

well, i have been studying jws religion ,my cousin is a jw and i have visited him a lot of times.i have watched his way of living and things like that.i have been at the district convention last week.i read so many things from both sides.i came to the conclusion that if someone believes god exists then it is so easy and he should be a jehovah's witness.sadly its true and that is why so many people are and every year they baptised even more.. stories about jws reducing?wrong.. facing problems?

false.. everybody in the convention had an ipad ,iphones etc with the bible in it.

When I was last in the "truth" (1998) they had JUST reached 6 million. now they are a little over 7 million. that is NOT a huge increase and I remember my father discussing that as a religion, they are losing as many publishers as they are gaining new converts. in the total scheme of it, they are BARELY keeping ahead of the people they are losing. I think the 'faders' are the ones that are keeping those numbers up higher than what they actually are, but for any religion their increase in numbers is REALLY slow.

And it's mainly due to so many people leaving.

it seems hardly a day can go by now without someone making a smutty comment and i really don't get it.. there is no need to interject talk of masturbation, sluts, gay sex or toys into every topic.

what are we, teenagers?.

please think twice before posting such comments.

what makes gay sex 'more smutty' than straight sex? is there something more offensive about the discussion of gay sex over straight sex? cannot the offense be against sex talk in general, or is there really a need to distinguish between the two?

ok, i hate to admit this but, im running out of ideas of things to do to the local jaydubs.

i mean yeah, knockin on their doors and showing up and taking books from the kh is fun and all, but kinda gettin stale.

my next big one is gonna be at the next memorial, where im gonna wear a big wool jacket and top hat as i chug the wine and eat the bread, then stand up and yell "praise the lord im healed!

@truthhurts13 okay okay okay, so I HAVE to ask... I worked out with a trainer who used to be a big pothead, and he said that if he smoked a lot on one day, on day two when he worked out he would end up getting high again (THC is stored in the fat... working out burns fat). I thought he was just kidding me. The process seems too fast (to build up fat and burn it all within a 24 hour period).

Can you veriy this claim?

(doggie demon possession can be a serious issue. Cesar Millan doesn't cover that sh*t in his books, you know... :-)

Write the local CO a lengthy letter explaining how you believe that your dog has a demon inside him/her. However, Jesus did not die for the sins of animals, so you are conflicted as to whether or not it is appropriate to call on "the name of Jesus" to save this creature when in fact... the creature cannot be saved. But you can't have a demon-possessed dog in your house either (be sure to mention how it's upsetting the neighbors). As the poor dog will not sit still for you (and other men of Jehovah) to lay the hands upon, is it okay to drug the animal? Can demon exorcism take place while said beast is on doggie downers or does the demon get drugged as well, making it impossible to vacate the body in a sluggish state?

These are weighing on your mind and ask for detailed instructions. Also include you are not sure if, at the end of it all, the dog should get a biscuit or not for fear it might confuse him/her into thinking demon possession was a good thing.

i was wondering if there were any other ex-bethelites on here.

i personally regularly went for temporary work at brooklyn then was assigned to the farm for a year and a half.

it was... one of the most bizaare experiences of my life.. so i wrote it all down (finally, after some 15 years) so i won't bore anyone on here with the details of the story - because bethel doesn't show up until chapter 15... and for you straight folks, it gets a bit gay in two places... but nothing gross.

Herd separatist mentality is herd separatist mentality, no matter what the group. It could be a group of whores trying to put up defenses in order to protect themselves against a society that judges them, or it could be a group of Jehovah's Witnesses putting up defenses against a 'wicked world' out to attack them. In this case, you were visually offensive and assaulting them.

In Bethel (and someone else chime in on this) being gay was a disease. You know how Witnesses like their “demon stories”? Bethel likes their AND THIS WILL TURN YOU GAY warnings. And (I wrote about this) you take a bunch of young men in their prime and sustain the sexual frustration of their normal development, and the straight ones are getting frustrated with suppression and the gay ones have a war raging on between their ears. Insecurity means that... in numbers... the group picks on the “weak”... in this case, that was you.

The sociology of the group is absolutely no different than that of any other. Just different colored ties.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. New Paltz had a little gay bookstore (it was so cute) and some other shops. The brothers at the Farm would comment when passing and such, but the HORRORS that Brookyln faced with the demons of NYC always circulating... as if the homoness would creep across the water from Manhattan Island and infiltrate through the windows AT ANY MOMENT.

I know I could be a little over sensitive due to the fact that I'm gay and I thought “geez there's a lot of DON'T BE GAY rules”, But seriously, I don't know a lot of straight dudes that hang out wrestling around in their underwear. Honestly...

@lrkr I don't know that I saw Bechman as power hungry, pre se... he was just authoritative... and power was then thrust onto him... like people thowing sticks into a blazing fire, not wanting to get too close. At the kingdom hall it was more noticeable because the local brothers were just so... QUIET. And to this day I cannot figure why in the hell he would create such things in the letter he sent other than... insecurity. But honestly, we were NOTHINGS compared to him. It honestly was one of those "just wait it out and the problem will take care of itself" type deals, and both Aaron and I would have been out of there in no time. There was no need for the extra pondersoity.

And talking to him on the phone, without his towering presence I remember thinking "Oh, my God... he's such a whiny little bitch." LOL.

I, like you, have left that world far far behind me. After a year or so I wrote everything down with the purpose of one day revisiting it and putting it in to an artistically structured format. I did not realize how much I remembered in re-reading a lot of things. I have consumed... copius amounts of alcohol for the single purpose of forgetting... LOL. and yet, BAM, there they all pop up.

Thank you, BTW... there is an immense freedom in living honestly. And I'm hoping you moved on successfully as well... OBVIOUSLY you have moved on from the religion. That's a good step. :-)
