  i questioned my mom today about beth sarim.

  she of course had never heard of it, even after 40 years as a jw.

  neither of my sisters have every heard of the 1976 predictions either, they are both born in with elders as husbands.

  You could ask why the WBTS mentions (regularly) the Inquisition and past sins of the Catholic Church.

  After all they don't do those things anymore. Perhaps they've had new light?

  i've seen a few threads/posts where some of y'all have heard from jw contacts and how they've stepped up their 'the end is close' rhetoric because of the earthquake/tsunami in japan.

  i usually take those things with a grain of salt.

  there's always some jw whose cheese has slipped that reads prophecy into every little thing that happens.

  there's is not the slightest inclination of the goverments turning on religion in the way the WT teaches it?

  You got it in one Misery, THE only sign they give for the start of the Great Tribulation is nowhere in sight.

  Does anyone remember is he said what part of Japan he is from?

  Dont remember Possible-san saying where he is from.....but I do hope he logs un and lets us know he is OK

  i would like to come back to him with evidence that they are not.

  I would say something like:

  Oh yes this earthquake is just terrible. And Jesus did say there were going to be earthquakes. But the Society has always said THE thing to look out for as THE sign that the great tribulation is upon us is................... The governments turning on religion............I don't see that happening.
