actually i'm not a witness myself, but my sister is.
we are both adults past 50. after reading about the april 15th change coming to the generations pass away belief here, i mentioned it to her.
flip flopping.
Although I was one for over 60years I disagree with most everything the Witnesses teach.
However I agree with some of the experts who say that, for a minority, cult life has advantages.
For instance I would not try to "educate" some of my elderly Witness friends and relatives, I think they need the support system they have in the cult.
Maybe your sister is in the same position.

i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

i read on the forum that tj had given one or two talks at a ca.. can anyone confirm that?.
last i heard he was still recovering from his stroke or heart attack or whatever it was.. can anyone shed any light on his holiness's health?
.
In a way, that's a GOOD thing... His [Jaracz] policies have caused problems in the WTBTS' rank & file; if a "bland centrist" were to take the reigns right now and render the 'official' WTBTS' policies more even-handed - more moderate - it would take the edge off of the discontent simmering just beneath the surface...
Good thinkin Zid
the definitions of partnerships are shifting.
indeed, they are different around the world.. the law doesn't always protect good partnerships that aren't on paper, and sometimes the law protects truly bad partnerships that are on paper.
the bible or church doesn't really have a definition of what a lawful "marriage" is.. i propose this..... if you set up home with a partner, you are "wed".
Living with a partner is living with a partner.
A marriage is a marriage.

It is when I read posts like your # 49 TTWSYF that I understand why some people are still JW's.
There are people who will not only believe, but also make excuses, for almost anything.
If you can excuse the religion which instigitated and carried on the inquisitiion for 350 years you can excuse anything.
