Seriously,
Quran 8:12 "Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: 'I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes."
Quran 9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, torture them, lie in wait and ambush them using every strategem of war."
Sahih Bukhari 4:52:177 Muhsin Khan: "The Hour Resurrection will not take place until the Muslims fight the Jews, and kill them. And the Jews will hide behind the rock and tree, and the rock and tree will say: oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, this is a Jew behind me, come and kill him."

The name Jehovah and the April Study edition of the Watchtower
by seek2find inin the 1st study article of the april watchtower, a statement is made about some apostates opposing the use of the name jehovah.
i would like to seriously ask this question to lurkers and active witnesses.
why is it that in the new world translation the name jehovah apears in the greek scriptures (aka new testament) only 237 times and yet in the watchtower magazine between the years of 2000 to 2006 the name jehovah appears an average of about 3000 times per year?

Seek2find,
I have told my mother the same thing.
But in some cases, comon sense dictates that the WT made a mistake in substituting "Lord" for Jehovah. For example, Rom 10:13 on. 13"For everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved. 14 However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him whom they have not heard? ....and so on.
Now, my question is: How can anyone call on Jehovah and be saved when Jehovah Himself gave us JESUS in order to be saved? Anyone who calls the name of Jehovah would have to call him in the name of Jesus, otherwise, He will not even hear anyone. I know that Paul was quoting from the old Scriptures, but when Paul went on to say that someone needed to prach, was he saying that Jesus's disciples needed to preach about Jehovah? I think not. He was talking about preaching a message of salvation which Jehovah provided in Christ.

Has anyone been affected by the poor economy?
by heyfea inevery weekend we used to spend a few hundred dollars going out to lunch.
but since less than a year, we no longer go out.
my husband business has been very slow, and on top of that, the management companies he does work for, do not pay him right away.

I'm sorry, I should have said we used to spend a couple of hundred dollars on weekends going out to lunch and shopping. Cognizant dessident, you are right. There's no way we'd spend hundreds of dollars just on lunch (we're only three). Unless is like a special occasion.

I'm happy for all those who's lifestyles are still the same.
A few months ago a co-worker of mine implied to me that a lot of people out there were making too much of a deal about the bad economy; that things were still the same for her. Now things changed for her too, possibly. We got a memo last week with the bad news about the layoffs. One bad economic move, touches so many lives. In this case, there were many bad moves, greedy moves.( Real estate, investment fiascos)
I bought my house 13 years ago at a cheap price compared to what's worth today. Our mortgage is shared with my in-laws, so each family pays half. Our share is only $940 a month. That's not bad at all. What I'm worried about is being out of work, both my hubby and I. Then paying the mortgage will be difficult.
The only little luxuries we give ourselves now a days is to occasionaly order out, Pizza, Gyros, and from time to time, Sushi. McDonalds once in a blue moon, only because is not too healthy.
My 17 yo son will finish high school in May. He's going to a prep school and once he graduates, we plan to put that money into savings. That's if we still have the same income. Of course, my son will be looking for a job soon. I only pray that he can find work with some sort of health benefits. He will no longer be qualified to be included in my health insurance once he turns 18 in May. I tell you, my worries are never ending. But as many of you expressed, my family is not the only one. We all have to hope for the best. May all of you get through this hard times, even with little, but with enough to live with dignity. May God accompany us at all times.

Every weekend we used to spend a few hundred dollars going out to lunch. But since less than a year, we no longer go out. My husband business has been very slow, and on top of that, the management companies he does work for, do not pay him right away. Sometimes they take months to pay him. He's not making enough profit to keep it going. He might close soon. To top it all off, my job will cut staff by March 27. I could be out of work also. Things are not looking good. We're trying very hard to be optimistic.

This past week, I was waiting for the subway on a crowded platform. There was no room really to move about. Suddenly I see this fat woman trying to get to the front of the crowd, like she deserved to be first to get in the train. She was carrying a bunch of WTs, displaying them like a good pioneer. I couldn't freaking believe it. When the train came, she pushed her way in, and pushed her way trough to find a seat. Not only she was rude but she also looked like she hadn't showered in days. Her hair was a mess and she had a tote bag full of clutter. She looked truly like a bat out of hell. So, I would say in her case, definetely REPROACH.

Sexless marriages
by Mickey mouse ini've heard of a fair few sexless marriages in the borg, probably something to do with the fact that if you're raised "in" you'll have a pretty skewed view of sex by the time you finally get to do it.
so if someone is trapped in a sexless marriage, from a jw standpoint they could get an unscriptural divorce...but...that doesn't leave them free to remarry??!
seems pretty sadistic really.

I've never heard of that. What do you mean the WTS allows an unscriptural divorce? To do what? To be disfellowshipped later? Because that's what it'll happen if either person remarries (in order to have sex with whom they have chemistry). If that's true, then the WTS is truly evil. It does not provide solutions; it provides depression, stress, and death, not only spiritually with their disfelloshipping, but also physically, though more rare, when people at the end of their rope commit suicide.
