Disassociating inactive ones?

a few days ago someone wrote about a new rule that came out in elders school this summer about inactive ones still being accountable to jehovah's (watchtower) rules.

does this mean that they are going to start disassociating ones who have been inactive for years who are not upholding the rules?

i know of a few people who have not attended meeting in several years who either celebrate holidays or in other ways break the rules and everybody knows it.

This discussion is extremely interesting to me, as I find myself in this very position as we speak. So far, the elders have tried to trick me into disassociating myself but I've written to them stating I definitely do not intend to do anything of the kind. Now they are on a witch hunt for me. I've not attended any meetings for close to 3 years, I've told them I've been stumbled and have fallen away but they are not satisfied with this, they are after me but I'm putting up a grand fight. A few weeks ago they had a judicial hearing and promptly disfellowshipped me but as I wasn't aware of the meeting and they really mucked up of some other procedures they had to back down. Now they're attempting it again but I'll go down fighting - why should they have the right to effect my relationship with my girls and the hundreds of witnesses who live in my town, not that i see the witnesses anymore but its the principle of the matter. How dare they inflict their narrow minded, bigotted, prejudiced, pigheaded, stiff necked attitude on me!

Abaddon - I've tried your reasoning but they ignored it, any other ideas?

What Are Some Of The STUPIDEST Comments Made?

what are some of the stupidest comments made in the watchtower, or by a circuit overseer or elder that you've never forgotten?

the one about" the rapist being human" too, ranks right up there....like we're supposed to feel bad for him?

When I was holidaying in Florida a few years ago with my elder husband and kids, we went to the Sunday meeting much to my horror and my girls but hey ho we done like we were told as usual. Well, anyway after the meeting a very nice couple invited us back to there home for some food and a few others were invited as well. An elders wife asked how us brits dealt with brothers who had beards, it seemed a real big thing to her. I said that it wasn't really an issue for us and that several of our friends and a couple of MS's in our cong. had beards, she nearly choked on her coffee and promptly said in defence of the US stand on not using men with beards -

"If its good enough for Mickey then its good enough for Jehovah!"

70 of us were laid off that day (after 6 months notice), and left at lunch, never to go back.

Been lurking and now I've found me voice!

well, anyway, i thought it was about time i said "hi and it's good to meet you all".

like many of you, i too have a story but not ready to share it yet, as i have two beautiful daughters trapped in the borg and i'd hate to do anything to jeopardize my relationship with them, you never know who lurks around or am i being paranoid!

Hi Everyone

Been looking around for a while and have posted a few times but said nothing real significant. Well, anyway, I thought it was about time I said "Hi and it's good to meet you all". Like many of you, I too have a story but not ready to share it yet, as I have two beautiful daughters trapped in the Borg and I'd hate to do anything to jeopardize my relationship with them, you never know who lurks around or am I being paranoid! I've made my escape but it has cost me my home and family and now the elders are trying to trump up some sin to disfellowship me but I'm fighting that - I won't give them the satisfaction, sad really they think I'm such a threat.

Great post Animal. I found it real interesting as a biker and a probation officer! It's a tough job and lot of my colleagues seem to have their heads up their a***s particularly when dealing with 'bikers' and they ain't supposed to discriminate. The book you talk about sounds like it may be helpful in my job, I'll try and track down a copy.

Thanks for the interesting and informative post - can I use it in my work? I can think of one guy that it could help.

i think that there a number of things about the circuit overseer's visit that stinks!

one thing that i hated was how all the elders got together to "shepherd" the flock right before the co's visit.....what bothered you about the week long visit??

just thought i'd relate this story, it's quite funny!.

the memorial came around, and my mother brought this newly baptized lady who my mother successfully got into the jws.

we went and picked her up.

Your story reminded me of one I heard a few years ago when I still attended meetings.

My friend worked a job share with a pioneer sister, and the pioneer sister went on vacation to visit her sister at a seaside resort in the UK for a short holiday. While she was there, her sister invited one of her bible studies to the public talk, but the bible study was finding attending meetings tough, being she was a lady of the night, and couldn't afford to give up her work. Well, she eventually makes it to the public talk with the pioneer sister my friend job shared with, and her sister. The public speaker is invited to the platform as a visiting speaker - and the 'lady of the night' promptly says "Oh, I know him - he's one of my regulars!". I really lol a lot when I was told but the poor pioneer sister was horrified. I could tell you others that I heard over the years but hey - I'd wear my fingers out!

I graduated from college today

at the age of 53 i graduated from arizona state university with a bachelor's in spanish.

when everyone stood for the national athem i felt a little guilty at first, but i soon got over it!

You're an inspiration. I'm in my 3rd year now at Uni in London, UK. Studying (hate that word) Criminal Justice, it's tough but I love it. When I couldn't stand the hyprocrisy in 'the truth' any longer, I walked away from my elder husband, my home and my kids, I thought I'd never survive and it broke my heart to leave my girls but it was that or die. So I got on a mission, found something I wanted to do and started doing it!

If an old boy like you can complete a degree, a youngster like me at 46 should be able to!

it appears as if this is a haven for those who hate the jehovah's witnesses.

if that is too tough of a stance, then this place is a haven for those who hate the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

I wouldn't normally post a comment on a site like this, but I read what you had to say and felt moved to do so. Like someone earlier, a while back I wouldn't of been looking at sites like this, but hey ho, life changes and what you see makes you think differently.

Just one thing to say really - try looking at others comments with an open mind not with your JW hat on.

Oh yeah, and thier is spelt their, sorry but I found that irritating.
