Talking about turning into drones. I recently had an ultra Orthodox Pioneer Cousin. Look me straight in the face face and say “Wt has always encouraged using the internet for evangelising. You’re going to love this one “Wt has never had an issue with growing beards.” I just give up with these people,

The Great "Dumbing Down"?
by NotFormer ina few old timers on here often refer to the dumbing down of the jw organisation.
what examples can you think of from over the years?
(i ask as an interested outsider who was never in).

If Tibor is a disgruntled worker, and decides to go live with what happened. This could be the thing that sinks Lloyd. If it was a toss up between the end of L.E or the end of WT. I think I’d choose LE.
It’s a real shame really, as his online work and research has been nothing but first class. I’ve been watching him ever since he started, and he was very instrumental in my decision to leave. It’s just a shame that his off screen antics have are now the thing that has tarnished his online presence. Such a shame really.

I attended the Iglesia ni Christo. For about 6 months. There has a lot been said about the InC on JW forums over the years, as there are striking similarities between both groups. Due to Felix Manalo, the founder, connections with the JWs in his early life. Many JW/Adventist concepts he borrowed and adopted into his church. I really wanted to investigate this group from the perspective of understanding my JWisim. Tbh I found the culture in the InC to be more controlling than the JWs e.g blocked out windows, a card system to track those attending, and the cash I saw been handed over was breathtaking. What sadend me was most of this money was coming from new immigrants who could least afford to give.

Troll or not, I’ve found the advice given here to be beneficial to myself and self confirming as to why I left.
After leaving the JWs I decided to investigate other churches. LDS, Christian Science, Iglesia ni Christo etc. The one that really stood out to me was the Christadelphian church. I was absolutely blown away, with the exception on a few points, that I was able to use JW doctrine and JW speak, and they knew exactly what I was talking about. I would invite you to do the same.
I am someone who is still Christian but now attends another denomination. I see everlasting life, that’s heavenly, been more determined by relationship rather than organisational. As some one stated here, I too cheated on my field service report. I really done FS as a means of compliance rather than an act of serving God. Meetings were the same. I now worship with spirit and truth. So was I a better Christian as a JW or not as a JW. You decide.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Unfortunately one day I will have to make the same decision for my father. It will be in the KH, and a full JW service. My father is a fully believing JW now, which I’m happy with, and will be when he dies. I’ve decided after the death of my father, an aunt and a cousin it will be quitzies for ever walking into a hall or anything jw related. Out of respect for my father, I tolerate their nonsense.

Do you play the LOTTERY?
by Fisherman injw view gambling as a sin and sadly people get addicted to gambling causing them financial and health problems.
but is playing a couple of bucks a week on some lottery tickets actually gambling?
what do you have to lose?
-
joe134cd
It was funny as I used to buy them as a JW. It started to become more frequent when I was changing from PIMI - PIMO - Pomo. Mind you I was doing a lot of stuff I shouldn’t have been doing anyway. So getting caught buying lottery tickets was the least of my problem. All good times.

Sorry I don’t live in the USA, but just looked up what level 3 means. It’s the worst of the worst. I can’t understand what they were thinking when they appointed him.

Fellow exElders: did you ever get to hear of ...
by no-zombie inwhen i was serving as an elder, it because relatively common to hear of wild drunken house parties of witness youths.
i investigated one, it was so bad that the cops turned up and found empty bottles of whiskey on the lawn and smashed out on the road.
but every led went cold, with all the kids clamming up.

How come I never got invited to these parties. Lol
Seriously though, it’s not the elders kids, it’s the elders themselves you have to worry about. Apart from Tony Morris, I knew of 2 previous elders, and one currently serving elder, who are alcoholics. The currently serving elders father, as relayed to me by my PIMI father, was also a raging alcoholic. So I guess that makes 4 in a 200km radius.
