I do feel a bit lonely, but am trying to manage it. The thing that really leaves me scratching my head is how could have I believed a total crock for just under 40 years, and have been totally unaware of it. Once again I would like to thank Simon (JWN), Paul (JWF), Barbra, Cedars (JWS) - just to name a few- for there hard work, as if it wasn't through them I probably wouldn't be here. Down with the towers I say.

Letting go of Highly Qualified Men
by James Jackson ini have been posting for a few months now and have read the life stories of tech49, confusedandalone, winston smith and other brothers who have held prominent positions in the organization who were dismissed not for any gross sins, but mainly for not keeping their child toeing the line.
they have been "cast aside", nit picked to death, and made to feel unworthy for their years of dedicated service.
even in my case, having my best friends treat me like the plague to jockey for position of recogntion.. is this what the organization is resorting to now?

Confusedandalone= assembly hall caretaker, that is another scandal that I knew nothing about.
To everyone else= I knew an elder that was removed because of his kids. Ok I will admit that the guy had a bit of a black and white attitude. But with in about 12 months after the event. He nearly lost his business due to not been able to fulfill contracts because he had employed to many witness who pulled the plug on him. His wife left him. And the gossip mill started circulating about what a hard man he was.

Ran into a witnessing table at the park today
by confusedandalone ini just got in from my daughters homecoming(she is a cheerleader and these guys make a huge deal out of this stuff).
they play 3 football games of various age groups.
it starts at 8 in the morning and just ended at 1:30. i just got in the house literally 5 minutes ago and i had to share.

To of been there they would of had to ask permission to be inside the park. Perhaps this wasn't given. A bit like at a dubbie convention. Although a public stadium and an open invitation if an apostate group wanted to set a news stand in the middle of the stadium they would have to get permission from the event organizers. How ever on the grass verge there is no problem.

Although I haven't read all the posts as I'm shortly to leave for work, I think I can probably a Answer your questions about setting up in the park vs not setting up in the park. I'm guessing where the cheerleading was would be considered a private function, in other words for them to have set up a store there they would have to of sort permission from the organizers. I'm guessing the issue of private property vs public property would of influenced the locality as well. Hey I'm not saying this is the case, but it would certainly merit consideration.

So I got engaged...
by frogonmytoe in...to my boyfriend, we're going to have one of those weddings ('gay' weddings to the straights).. although my jw family know i'm gay, and not going to meetings, only one of my sisters has sussed the situation.
but i think after 3 years it's about time i told them.
especially if sometime in the future i'll turn up with a (gay) wedding ring.

"Apostates" Who Return To Their Own Vomit
by minimus inonce you realize ttatt, how can anyone with half a brain, go back??.

i was thinking about why people return. I suppose it's a bit like a bad marriage. I think we all know of examples of a women who is married to a no good abusive husband who abuses and mistreats her. We all site back and think how could anyone in their right mind put up with this. Yet there is something that draws and holds her to him. May be it's when he is not drinking he is a loving farther and a husband, and this over rides the negative aspect of the relationship. Perhaps the reasons could be financial for both her self and her children.
Its a bit like me when I buy a lottery ticket (and yes I will admit that I secretly used to buy them when I was in the Borg). I know full well it's a waste of money, and that I have got more chance of been hit by lightening than on winning. week after week I go back for more, and I still ask myself why I do it. yet every time I buy a ticket I get this delusional sense of comfort knowing that at I least have a chance of winning, even though I know in reality I will loose.

I mistakenly thought I could play both sides of the field. I now realize I can't, and haven't put a foot inside the KH for a few months. I can now fully understand, why when the door of apostasy is open it is very hard to walk back through it again. Hey there are exceptions to the rule e.g fatboyslim, and I wish him all the best.
In this country there is this charismatic Christian leader, who is clearly using his religion for financial gain, numerous news reports of Poor vulnerable people been taken advantage of so he can lead his life style of extravagance. To be honest I think this guy is worse than the WT. Yet people are flocking And returning to him. As this example shows of why do people do the things they do. Who knows.

Are JW's scared of visiting apostate websites?
by yadda yadda 2 ini believe they are.
i think it's their biggest fear besides dying at armageddon.. there's a saying that anyone who reads ray franz's books is never the same again.
i think many jw's secretly know that there is information out there that would almost certaintly seriously damage their truth in their religion, and they are terrified of it.. they would rather keep their heads firmly stuck in the sand than even take a peek at critical information that might begin a slippery slope leading to the collapse of their unique worldview.. jw doing their version of the islam prayer:.

My slip into apostasy was a slow one. I wouldn't of come here in the first place if I hadnt been so unhappy in the religion. As an active witness when I first started reading apostate web sites I thought that I could play on both sides of the fence e.g know the TTATT, and still be a good loyal witness. 18 months later I now realize that this is impossible, and haven't put a foot inside the KH for a few months now. As I am now classed as inactive and still talk with those in the congregation, I can see I have no problem with Jehovah, Jesus, or witnesses as people as such, bit what I do have a problem with is the system with which they adhere to. The restriction of information, and how you just get steam rolled if you do speak out.
i remember when I got the phone call from the library telling me that CoC had arrived for me to pick up, and getting the feeling of guilt as well as of a journey into the unknown. I read the book twice in a couple of days. I also remember looking at the back of the book to all the other issue dates, and thinking what were the reasons for people wanting to issue this book out, and at what journey were they on.
