Hey jwfacts I know Peter Moore. You probably don't know this but he died a couple weeks back. Apparently the society paid for Renee's university education. Well that what I heard.

I would just love to know the extent of assistance that is given. I would love it if they were forced to open their books for an audit.

Winstonsmith= about the talk that Steven price gave that got me into apostasy. I had discovered on the internet about some of the legal cases they were facing for child sex abuse, and the 27 mill that had been awarded. From that everything just opened up e.g financial troubles, cut backs, loosing members etc. At this point in time I was playing around with this in my head, and sort of wondering what to do. I go to the circut assembly, were Steven Price was giving a talk, and I still remember his comments clear as day. "we know that we are in the truth, so that should be enough. So why would we want to go looking beyond that.". That comment convinced me. BTW sorry Steve if your comments had the opposite effect to what was intended.

Comment made by an uber dub aunt
by joe134cd inok i've read similar threads to this before, but i just thought i would share a comment made by an aunt.
my aunts bible student died, and due to the families wishes the funeral service was given in another church.
my aunt with a disgusted look on her face when recalling the events to me said "and you know what, they must of only spent about 5 minutes talking about the person, and the rest of it was about the church".

Amen to that Steve amen. But what really amazes me is, just how blind my Aunt was to have not realised that the exact same thing goes on with a JW funeral service. I'm just finding it so hard to keep my mouth shut, to avoid getting accused of apostasy. But I'm beginning to think perhaps this could be a good thing.

Ok I need to apologize both to the Wt and those on this forum for my previous comments about the " food and clothing". It dose appear that I miss understood what they were getting at and how currency is the preferred donation. I think BLUESBROTHER helps to give balance to this discussion. It dose appear that the society will accept donations that are specifically ear marked for disaster relief. So if a person chooses to do this then so be it. But then again there is certainly pressure not to stipulate what it is used for ( e.g WWW) so there is no accountability. If I was a discerning publisher I would be stipulating on the cheque that I want it to help those in the Philippines. Thanks BLUESBROTHER FOR THAT LETTER.

What I getting at here is just how blinded they are, as the exact same thing happens in the KH. In fact I think it's even stipulated in the outline that X amounts of minutes is to be given talking about the person and the rest of it is on the watchtower.

Emergency relief fund for the Philippines. How will it work.
by joe134cd ini was just thinking it will be interesting to see how the wts emergency relief fund will operate in the philippines.
ok it worked well with the storm in florida, with cashing in on the insurance cheques.
sorry to generalize, but americans have the disposable income, and the insurance polices for things like this - a thing the wtbts finds very attractive.
