  The Mormon church has got much the same problems with survival in the information age. I heard recently on Mormon Stories ( John Delin) podcast. “The Mormon doctrine and truth claims as it stands today, isn’t sustainable long term. It needs massive reform if it is to survive.” Telling words indeed.

  I was discussing this Jubilee year, with my unsuspecting PIMI Father today. His comment was it’s the principle that has to be applied. So I’m guessing this new light could be swallowed by the R&F. But then you either accept everyone back into congregation or you don’t, and this includes apostates. This could be problematic with acceptance of those who have different views to the guys in NY. Do they then get re-disfellowshipped, to be forgiven in the jubilee year. Do it goes on.

  I agree with slim. About comparing it to other churches. In the church I go to if it wasn’t for immigrants attending, from poor Christian countries, there would probably be no one there. I have heard comments to effect of, “the church is devoid of Caucasian’s.”

  To go mainstream. They need to stop shunning, allow blood transfusions and higher education, and jetson 1914. I really can’t see this happening. But then again 10 years ago I’d never thought beards and FS reporting would be stopped as well.

  i been reading quite a few experiences on reddit lately, and their seems to be a common theme coming up….

  …dialed-up-to-eleven shunning of xjws by their witness relatives.. it reminds me of back in the day, listening to some of the over-the-top vitriol displayed by hard-core loyalists when the topic of evolution or apostates came up….

  …i was gobsmacked when i finally realized these guys weren’t offended and indignant because they thought it was lies….

  The Mormon church is going through a very similar thing. I heard a comment from a prominent lds podcaster John Delin ( I love that guy) that the Mormon doctrine as it presently stands is not sustainable long term. It needs repaid reform if it’s to survive long term.

  Interestingly I have actually attended a Christadelphian church. I was shocked, to learn, that I could used terms and doctrine, that I thought was specific to the JWs, and they knew exactly what I was talking about. Just for the record the JWs did not develop out of christadelphianisim but out of Millerite advetistisim.

  Although not to the same level as TOMO3 or Ray Franz. Wt would certainly want to be cautious in how they play their cards with him. I think he could know enough to still do them some significant harm if he decided to go public. I would certainly be interested in buying a book if he decided to write one.

  Has anyone heard of "Secret Disfellowshipping" by Jehovah's Witnesses? Menlo Park Ca. Congregation. Update.

  no doubt everyone has been following the juan viejo postings regarding the watchtower kingdom hall "grab" on jwn for the last couple of years.

  called the mrs and me to say "wow- you have to google this" we did...came here to jwn ...became members..and the rest is history.. in the last nine months i have been calling and emailing contacts in the silicon valley for verification on the societies theft and forced sale of the menlo park kingdom hall (near the new facebook heaquarters) because the story seemed...a little far fetched.

  every reliable contact i made has confirmed what juan reported.

  I heard that all those elders involved in the Menlo park have now passed away. I’m guessing the loving treatment of WT had something to do with it.

  I think probably what made that case so renowned was the lawyers comment about been like the Catholic Church. I think his comments done more damage to Wt credibility, than any monetary gain or loss.

  on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

  a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

  in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

  As I side point. I’d like to say that I’ve found the you tube channel “the blue envelop”, to be nothing but first class. Thoroughly well researched and put together. He’s by far the best ex jw YouTuber out there. NB// he was the whistle blower on Tony Morris were abouts.

  Were JW Celebrities Ever An Asset To The Organisation?

  just wondering if the rich celebrities that occasionally were aligned with the wt gave enough to the 'tower to be a worthwhile presence within the organisation?.

  my gut instinct is: "no".

  i imagine that the jackson family gave a fair bit, but it was obviously never enough to buy michael the right to be held as being in good standing.

  I think they can be glad they gave MJ the flick when they did. Imagine the drama they would have now with what has transpired anbout him. Combine this with Wt mismanagement of child abuse as well.
