i have seen a couple of threads today about ones that went to a convention.
they were complaining that their experience was not good in doing so.

The part that seems futile is trying to make part of ones exit from the lie by attending meetings. If one is fading and no one is the wiser, attending a meeting or a convention is benign and it holds out the prospect of on going relations with friends and relatives. To show up at covention and hassle the attendants is another matter.

Why crawl back to one of these meetings? What is the point? I can see it if one is looking to recover their standing as a JW if this is not the case, give it up! Move on for crying out loud! Leave the rest of the ones still in the collective worship as they please. Its a free country. I am not advocating a return to the damn borg but, why put the life energy into a failing religion that has already robbed a butt load of your life?
i live with my hubby and children outside of my native country.
we will be going home for a vacation soon after many years.
we're faders and most of our jw relatives have adopted a don't ask-don't tell policy about our decision and we are perfectly fine with it.

that got me thinking...since coming out the society, has anyone embraced another organized religion or group, public or secret?
if so, what is it, and what made you join and continue membership?
I have been a Methodist since being baptised as an infant. Never resigned. Spent 25 plus years with the JW's all the time being a Methodist!
I belong to the Lion's Club, IOOF, IOOF Rebecka's, Chamber of Commerce, The Republican Party...Also served on the City Council, and belong to my High School Alumni Association as well my College Alumni Association.
leaving the borg of jehovah presents a somewhat lonely existence for many of us fallen angels.

many may find that after so many years in a controlled environment like the watchtower that they have a hard time finding a large group of friends again.

when i left the witnesses in 1992 after ten years in the orgainzation, i got as far away from the teachings and mindest as i could.
however some, like my former brother-in-law, also left, but are intent on finding ways to reform the society from within since he believes in the society as being of god, but that it has become misguided and is slowly drifting to "christendom" status.
one of the things he cites as evidence is the wtbts become aligned with the united nations.
Its the worst damn thing to happen in my opinion. Some are more brain damaged than others by the WT.
Many in my wifes side of the family have left the organizaion but still hang on to the teachings, still limping along in a dysfuctional state of limbo land....it's bizaare. Good luck.
